3 when was the last time it was working fine?

Check if the problem persists in safe mode.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Right click on a drive in Windows Explorer, error

    Hello

I hope someone can give me a viable solution to this problem with my Windows Explorer which persisted for months. I can't right click on my computer or any player it contains (C:, D:, etc.) via Windows Explorer. I tried everything I could find by Googling the problem. Outside these three methods listed at the link below, I finished the antivirus scans, deleted applications and spyware scans. Nothing fixes the problem. My biggest problem is that my C drive is an SSD, so I cannot defragment on it (or shouldn't, at least). When a drive is a click right (left click has no problems), I have error: Windows Explorer has stopped working.

I followed the three methods available here to resolve, but the problem persists:

I was on facebook and remove an icon by using the right-click menu, but then all my photos and pictures of profile, could no longer be seen. I was able to view them in the browser, so it's something I've done in Firefox. How can I unlock a site?

If you select that right click menu context then you block all images from this area and not a specific image, so do not use that.

    • Check exceptions in tools > Options > content: Load Images > Exceptions (for example sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net)

You can use the following steps to check if the images are blocked:

    • Click on the "More information" button to open the "Page Info" with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "tools > Page Info").
    • Go to the Media of the window tab "tools > Page Info.
    • Select the first link of the image and scroll down through the list with the arrow down.
    • If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.
  • Why don't I have to use Ctrl + Alt + Delete to use my computer?

My PC starts directly from the windows 7 desktop.  How ever I can not click on the Start button.  If I open a desktop application I can't click any function on it once it is open.

To have access to my PC, I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete.  So I have to left click anywhere on the screen (not any text or button).  Then I can click on the Cancel button.  Once I did, I can use my programs as usual.  I have to do this every time I start my PC.  This problem exists from the outset, even though I have repeatedly re-installed Win 7 as a 32-bit and a 64 bit OS.  Since the first office sometimes.
I have also not drag and drop functionality.  I can't drag my around my office desktop icons, for example in the trash.  This was not always the case and it takes place after the service of some or other update.  I spent this morning of uninstallation of updates as much as possible, until finally after a reboot, I could drag and drop from the desktop icons.
A program that was unaffected by the problem of drag / move is iTunes.  I can drag tracks/albums from iTunes to a windows Explorer folder, but not a file Explorer windows to another.  I have to use the dialog box copy - paste on the right click of the mouse.
What this problem is, it also affects Google Chrome by preventing the features left click on any of the control buttons.  By clicking a new tab, close...
I'd appreciate a lot any input on that.
    My best regards,
    Duncan

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and start safe mode.  Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure.  To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode.  Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.
    -
You can check the corrupted system files.  Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.
    -
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log.  To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools.  Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods
above is preferred so that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are
    found)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.
