Do Dell R710 should be updated Firmware?

Hello world

Are my servers Dell R710 running ESXi 4.1. The current firmware of the servers are 2.1.1

After I check my servers vmware compatibility guide, I got the result:

dellr710.png

Can I upgrade the current firmware to a new? And how I do with Dell Server?

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the communities.

Yes, you must upgrade to meet the needs listed on the VMware HCL. See http://communities.vmware.com/people/vmroyale/blog/2010/12/29/how-to-install-vendor-updates-on-server-hardware-running-esxi for a set of instructions that can be used.

I see there's a 1.0.0.48 updated the firmware on the Netgear site, but control over the router software said: I'm updating even if I'm on 1.0.0.46. Should I update?

Personally, I put because it is a new release.

If you have a valid reason, of course, but if things are

  • Update Firmware in Dell Equal Logic PS4100E

Hello! I have a Bay Dell equal logic PS 4100E. I need to update its firmware. Currently Im running Firmware V5.1.1. I read this: "Update Firmware for Dell EqualLogic PS Series arrays and FS Series storage facilities" but I need confirmation before doing the actual upgrade.

Since Im running V5.1.1 now, I need to:

    (1) download and install the firmware V5.2.11

    (2) download and install the firmware V6.0.8

    (3) download and install the firmware V7.0.2

Am I wrong? Could someone confirm that its okay? Soon ;)

To get to v7.x v5.1.1 you only need to do two updates, first upgrade to 6.0.x (the most recent, 6.0.8).  The document upgrade firmware for v6.0.8 clearly shows that you can go to 6.0.x 5.1.x and no need to do the 5.2.11 upgrade).

Once on the last version 6.0.8 (and the table has been restarted - very important to do this step!), you can go to the latest version of 7.x.

(Note that the release notes for 7.x is a bit of confusion on this and need to be revised to show the path of 5.1 to 7 a little better)

  • Update firmware on Dell Powerconnect 6248P battery

    Hello

I need to update the firmware on the switches on my stack, the stack consists of 3 all current 6248P to run version firmware 3.2.1.3 Powerconnect switches.

I plan to stack in a 4 switch that is running 3.3.1.10 so I need to update my existing carpet before doing this.

I would like to use auto update and upgrade the firmware on the circuit breaker that will modernize, then the rest of the stack, but the issue I'm having, it's that the documentation Dell tells me to enable synchronization of the firmware using the command "start auto-copie-sw" in the cli, however appears not to exist at all?

    Can someone advise?

    Thank you

    Steve

    The documents listed here.

    www.Dell.com/.../pwcnt_stacking_switches.pdf

Is a little outdated. Therefore, the listed order is more part of the 6200/CLI firmware. By default, the switch will try and push any updated firmware for the other switches in the stack, no need to run a command.

  • Reference Dell R710, Dell and VMware VAAI MD3200

Hi guys, we have 3 x Dell R710 hosts running VMware ESXi hypervisor v5.1. Our SAN is via Dell MD3200 Direct attached storage. We have activated the option of High Performance. My question is about VMware VAAI. In particular, the recommendation of VMware: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1033665 it says: "For more information on support VAAI in a particular storage group or required firmware levels, contact the storage array provider." So I'm wondering: is VAAI supported (or not) with the MD3200... and otherwise: should I be deactivation of VAAI settings as recommended by VMware? What are the potential implications for the performance of deactivation of VAAI... or support DO NOT turn it off? Thank you, Steve

Indeed, you are using a fairly old firmware. The most recent is 07.84.53.60.

To be able to upgrade to this version, you will need a version quite familiar of the MDSM. I would say to download 4.1.2.29 or later, which is 5.0.0.70. All servers Windows and Linux (not VMware or XenServer) server that manage and/or are connected via iSCSI SAN should have their MDSM, updated software before upgrade you the firmware on the raid on the SAN controller.

  • Update Firmware of BMC R610 of linux

    Hi mates,

I need to update a few R610 servers, I would like to only update the BMC Firmware if possible without shutting down the machines, is - it possible? I'm running debian on these machines.

I open it because I've been Googling much this and I found that maybe there are several ways to update the firmwares of server, including the iDRAC completely update, etc., but I am only interested to get the latest patches of cooling, so I guess that should be only update BMC.

Could you please some direct me in the right direction? I looked and I found some binary files in dell FTP, but I need to be sure of where to find the correct firmwares for my machines and what is the most common method through linux so far.

Thank you comrades, I appreciate the help.

    Hello

There is no separate BMC firmware in R610. You need to update firmware iDRAC who BMC features as well. Down, you can load the latest firmware iDRAC at the bottom of the location

    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/product/PowerEdge-R610?driverId=63KCR&osCode=NAA&FILEID=3287900761&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=es

You can update the firmware iDRAC without stopping or restarting the system. As you have debian on these machines, I recommend you update iDRAC using Web GUI. You can check below link with a video on the updating of the process. First half of the video is on the download of the image that has changed a bit. You can download the File Format 'Application' link above.

  • Update firmware on esxi servers

    Hi all

I plan to update firmware on my two Dell servers.

Now my lack of Manager as an official document or the site who said that the updated firmware will be supported by the ESXi software.

It's after the upgrade of the card of network/BIOS firmware etc, this will be supported by the ESXI version.

The servers are already in production.

Can someone direct me to the site where I checked the firmware compatibility against ESXi software please

    THX

    Concerning

    Nicolas

Check the supported firmware versions listed for each system after selecting ESXi 6.0 (assuming you're going to the latest version)... This is as close as "documented" you will find.

    https://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/PowerEdge-R710/drivers

Firmware updates do not change the compatibility.

If you're worried, see the release notes for red flags.

  • Satellite A45: need to update firmware on DVR K12D drive

    Hello...
IM new here... Well, I have a toshiba > Satellite A45 Series... which had a DVD Multi Drive (DVR K12D) inside. The problem is that his operation stopped. Sometimes she would write a CD then sometimes it spoils my CD. I used on the media player were Verbatin, Imation, Supermedium, Sony.

Well the reader works as a very short period and then dies OFF... every time I took it to the repair center...

The drive has been changed now 4times by toshiba support. I asked for the release of Firmware from 1.05 to 1.15 or higher. They keep answering back telling me to ask pioneer. But it is an OEM obvious by toshiba.

The player after having been changed stops working without delay of 2 to 3 months max 4 months time and den customer tried upgrading the drive by putting a higher config recorder multi disc double tht is the 8 GB one. The satellite detects that hardware.

been 2 years now my readers send me problems such as:

    does not read DVD
    doeant read CD RW
    don't write CD/DVDs
sometimes DVD detects any sometimes they detect its weird.

The only solution is to update the firmware, but how can I do? I need the update of the firmware. I called toshiba WE also, they talked for two hours and then answer that I have to contact pioneer!

    Please help me!

    Vik!

    Hello

CD/DVD players support generally not all means.
As far as I know in the manual you will find a list of the CDs and DVDs is supported and it works properly.

In addition, it seems that this device was designed for an American market and in this case, you should look at the Toshiba Site us.

    I checked this American site:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_home.jsp

There, I found several notebooks A45 and the necessary drivers. I also found a driver for DVD rom and ram. It s not a firmware update but maybe it helps.

However, on Toshiba Europe site, I found several updates firmware for the readers and the different European books but as I said at the beginning you have a US laptop and have to look on the American website. If you don't get an update of the firmaware if you ask the manufacturing of the car.

In addition, I want to say that you can not be sure that, after updating the firmware of the player will not work correctly. This kind of malfunction looks like a defect of lens calibration and therefore only a replacement disc can solve this problem.
If the drive has been replaced several times so I guess that the guarantee is valid and you will get a new.

  • jumble of text in the web interface after Web Services update / firmware

I received a message on the screen of my Officejet 6700:

    Update recommended

An update is available for Web Services (ePrint and Apps).

    Do you want?

I chose to update now and it installed fine, or so I thought.

I checked the web interface of the printer, and there is a bunch of text confused, as the code is messed up for the web server.

I had just finished to check the status of your ink cartridges (and subsequently replaced a), so I have the fully functional Web page fortunately still open on another machine, so I can tell exactly what is forward - after on this page.

On the tools > gauge of ink page, on the right page (old) the said table (title, first line, first column):

    Cartridges installed

    Color | Magenta | Cyan | Yellow | Black

    Part number

    Type

    End of warranty date (A-M-J)

    First Installation Date (A-M-J)

    Area of ink

    USE

    HP

But after the software update, it says this:

    Print the self-test Page

    L@S#0456 | Number of recorded events. L@S#0462 | L@S#0552 | L@S#0450

    Use of the accumulated media

    Date

    L@S#0477

    L@S#0561

    L@S#3345

In addition, the order "supplies" link, with a contextual text of "print order supply."

now, says "Cartridge", with a contextual text ' block unwanted faxes '

And "Print Printer Status Report" now says "L@S#2567".

I went to the support section and found an update firmware, but during download and execution, after you find the printer, he says that he is already up to date and leaves me not choosing to try and reapply the update of the firmware (as is obviously what is happening through the touchscreen menu has already done).

Should I just restore to factory settings? I think that firmware would not be changed by doing this. It is not an older version of the firmware available on the product support page, to return to an earlier version.

Via the screen menu touch printer, a Printer Status Report print indicates the firmware version is MPM3CN1322DR.

How to force a reinstallation of the firmware, or let them difficulty firmware which was released on 25-06 - 2013?

I've been using Google Chrome and even had 2 tabs open in the same window, one from before the update and the second I opened after the update, so this was not a factor.

I had not revisited the web interface of the printer to date, and currently, I see that the problem has disappeared!
The version of the firmware has not changed, and I did no manipulation of the printer. I also highly doubt that the main user has nothing, because it is not tech savvy. So, the problem seems to have corrected itself.

The only thing I see now, that I did not notice before, is that there is a version of firmware fix, but it currently says 0. I don't know what it was before, but I guess zero means that there is a patch, so the firmware didn't automatically update in order to make the problem disappears.

Problem disappeared, but I don't know how or why. I haven't decided if I will update the second printer that is the same model.

We have 6 PE1950 server with SAS PERC 5 / i integrated RAID controllers. Dell OpenManage complains about being obsolete PERC firmware. 2 servers I currently have running, firmware 5.2.1 - 0062 and 5.1.1 - 0040. I downloaded the latest version of 5.2.2 - 0072. Firmware doesn't have flash. Stop!

The process of updating of the firmware of the controller does not have!

Both servers had the exact same mistakes as described above. Ideas on how I can get the firmware update successfully? I checked the package I downloaded is for the PERC 5 / I integrated.

  • Dell PE R720 fully updated

We have a new dell R720 I need to install xenserver 6.1 on it.

However before that i need to fully update the firmware on the dell box

I searched online and found that there is a ISO that we can download to update the firmware

    ftp.dell.com/secure//FOLDER01087307M/1/cdu_2.2_core_702.iso

But when i boot the server using this ISO , it gives me an option to update firmware and install OS.

I though it will automatically update the firmware for all devices on the Dell Box and then prompt me for XenServer CD

    >On the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility Home screen, click Firmware Update on the left pane.

    >The Repository Selection screen is displayed.

    >Specify the location where the update files repository resides

Could anyone please help me to know what all i need to download to fully update the new Dell R720 server

I thought this will be something like HP smart CD .

    See Kitab,

What you need to do is to start on the BUU (Build and update utility), then when you get to main menu, insert the diskette SUU (Server Update Utility) and select the update of the firmware in the menu.

    SUU - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r720

  • Update firmware H730 on ESXi

We have two R530 running ESXi 5.5. They run slightly updated firmware on controllers RAID minis H730 I would like to update.

The problem is the firmware update files I can find are if you are on Windows or Linux. How do I the R530 firmware update if I run ESXi? I am aware of the image of Dell SUU, but it's more than 10 GB is size, which is much too big, even for a DVD double layer.

Dell do not seem to offer a "hard drive" version of the firmware from what I see.

tonybarrett in your case, you can start in the LCC (Life Cycle controller) to perform updates to the server.

1.demarrez Lifecycle Controller: press within 10 seconds after the Dell logo appears.
2Click on Firmware update and update Firmware of the launch.
The select the update repository page appears.

5The latest firmware is downloaded from Dell's FTP server, internal FTP server or FTP server of the service provider.
The select updates page appears. For a component, compare the currently installed firmware version and the latest version in the current and available column.

  • Reference Dell R710 - Configuration of memory

    Hi all

I'm sure I'm missing something, but I read the two technical papers about memory configuration in the Dell R710.

I have a server that currently has 48GB stated as follows

    A1 - 4 GB

    A4 - 4 GB

    A2 - 4 GB

    A5 - 4 GB

    A3 - 4 GB

    A6 - 4 GB

(It then returned on the b-side)

According to the BIOS it's set to "optimized."

Now I have sticks of 2x16GB I wanted to install, the only way that I could operate without the whine of BIOS was to install as follows:

    A2 - 16 GB

    A5 - 4 GB

    A8 - 4 GB

    (Duplicated on b-side)

    Giving 72 GB.

As I read the manual, I should be able to mix the sizes of memory for "optimized" as long I have spend from A1 to A9 and so I have an another 6x4Go sticks left, I want to install.

My logic is that I can fill with A1 to A9, mixing the 16 GB, however when I try I get the error on the A1/A2/A3 needing to be the same?

Am I missing something simple? I am unable to make changes in the BIOS, the memory is all of the same type (bought from Dell)

    Rob_991,

The question that you are running in is due to the R710 need 3 memory channels to match.  Each game nine media is organized in three channels with three supports memory per channel. As shown below, each processor has 3 channels of memory, allowing only a single channel to the need to match, or filled.  So, with only having a couple of 16 GB DIMMs, you are only able to fill a channel on each side. What I would say is the addition of a couple more 16 GB DIMMS fill A1, A2, B1, B2 with them, and then place the 4 GB in A4, A5, A7, A8, as well as B4, B5, B7 and B8. This gives you two channels on each side, as well as 96 GB of memory.

Let me know if this helps answer your question.
