Do I need to install Windows defender if I have Microsoft Security Essentials?
original title: Programs Microsoft Security
I installed security essential to the life of the window.
What I can and it is recommended to install the defender of the window and window life care?.
Do you mean Microsoft Security Essentials? If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, you need not advocate or Onecare.
I have Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop with Vista 64 - bit - is it true I don't have Windows Defender? because I can't get to open-
Yes; It is true.
MSE has its own version of Windows Defender and disables the installed Vista Windows Defender by default and there is nothing to worry.
Here is the information about it.
See you soon.
I just uninstalled Windows Live One Care and installed Microsoft Security Essentials (the new free program). Windows Defender was always "off" under Windows Live One Care. Defender warned me that he can 'stops' also now that Microsoft Security Essentials is installed. Is it the way it should be? I have not any instruction on the site of Windows CE. Can you tell me please?
Solved. For some reason any installation IS does not stop Defender tries to start. Solution (as you would expect) must have Windows Defender off HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run - exactly why Security Essentials is not beyond me...
get the error code when you try to install this update. update history shows this update failed on previous dates
The latest version of virus definition is: 1.151.1642.0 | Exit the: June 5 2013 03:13 UTC
As long as you have the latest version don't worry about the updates failed.
Download and install the latest update that replaces the old updates manually.
try to install windows defender get message - remove microsoft client protection help please
You apparently Forefront security or installed Microsoft Security Essentials. If this is the case, you can not install Windows Defender. MSE already has an element antispyware anyway. So what antivirus/security software you have already installed on the computer? I don't like Windows Defender on XP machines in any case. A better choice is MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware (free versions). Install and update / it run manually once a week or more. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
I use a windows live care and now it time to renew a subscription so I want to know what is the different between Windows Live one care and microsoft security essentials? should I stay with windows live care?
Windows Live One care is discontinued.
Read the above info.
WLOC uninstall it before installing MSE.
Two AVs installed may cause blockages of the system, etc..
Microsoft Security Essentials offers protection in real time to your PC at home that protects against software viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
Microsoft Security Essentials questions should be directed to the MSE Forums:

My brother-in-law gave me his laptop Dell Latitude D610 to work on. It was loaded with virus and almost completely non-functional. I installed an old windows XP Home Edition SP1 upgrade disk (I had to insert my plu too Windows 98 disc) on it because I had no original disks supplied with the computer. I am therefore perfectly legal with that. I installed it and I activated it until I went through updates. When I finished updates of service pack to download SP2 to the execution of the method to update to SP3. I tried to install Microsoft Security Essentials however it would not load and said I had to VALIDATE windows. I already got it activated prior to all other updates. How can I fix it? When I try to validate windows all I see is a white screen, so I can't go any further! So basically I have 2 problems I need to validate (the computer says that Windows is already activated when I click on the button "Activate Windows"). And I get the white screen when I try to validate... Please help I know it's legal software, just old.
Visit the genuine Microsoft software Site of diagnosis and start the Diagnostics.
Also, follow the steps in troubleshooting the Microsoft KB article and check if it works.
Windows Genuine Advantage does not validate a copy of Windows XP

OK so what is the best laptop windows defender or microsoft security essentials

XP pro with Service Pack 3 on 10 years, Dell Dimension 4500. I use NOT of MSE. I use AVG, malware protection. I authorize updates from Microsoft automatically download but I decide to install. 13/03/13, I noticed that my PC had set a new restore point called "Software Distribution Service 3.0". Checking Windows Update I found 8 updates which appear legitimate 3/13 but I did not knowingly take any action to install them. Have I not malware? If so, how can I recover?
KB2807986 for a Note
KB2687505 to the Visio Viewer
KB890830 for malicious...
KB982726 for Office 2010
KB2767886 also for Office 2010
KB2809289 for IE 8
KB2814124 for Silverlight
KB2553501 for filter Pack 2.0
When you install Office 2010, Silverlight, Windows Live Essentials or Microsoft Security Essentials, you can make two changes:
1 Microsoft Update (vs Windows Update) becomes your update by default source (that is, if she had not already the default); and...
2 automatic updates will reset the automatic configuration by default (that is, if one of the other options had been selected.)
[The above is specified in the EULA that you accept when you install one of the requests, but it is "buried" in the small print and difficult to anyone who bothers to read.]
Since you had MS Office 2010 installed for a while, chances are that Microsoft Update was already your default. So, it seems that #2 happened to you after you have installed Windows Live Mail (part of Windows Live Essentials) a few weeks ago (i.e. the or after 12 February).
If you have not already done so, do not hesitate to change your automatic updates affecting the 'download but do not automatically install... '. "option.
so that Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software (MS Office 2010, Silverlight, Windows Live Essentials and Microsoft Security Essentials).
I HAVE MOZZILA FIRE FOX AS MY BROWSER ~ I'VE BEEN USING MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS ~; BUT I INSTALLED GUARD PROTECTION NOW, BUT CONSTANT FEELING I ONLY INSTALLED SOFTWARE, YOU CAN ME SAY WHAT I HAVE TO DO AND WHICH IS THE BEST PROTECTOR
You really should only use an antivirus product that use an Analyzer to access because they can collide so slow the system down and jeopardize the protection they offer. Manually run standalone detectors are acceptable if used with care and sparingly.
As for the one which should not be to make a specific recommendation that they have different characteristics that can meet your requirements. Personally, I used AVG, Avast and MSE and now confine myself to the last as a free application base.
Oh and do not use capitals unless necessary, it is equivalent to shouting on the net.
Anything does not work what do I do?
I think I have spyware because whenever I try to get on a Web site a random other site rises. So basically no internet.I'll try Malwarbytes. Windows Defender works, but I don't know why this isn't to find the problem.
Original title: changing from Vista to XP.
Good, so I have a computer with Vista on it, and rather than upgrade to 7 or 8, I was wondering if it is possible to put XP Professional out there. anyone? anyone? Bueller?
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if XP drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, XP does not work for you.
If XP drivers are available, then buy XP and clean install.
Microsoft sells more than XP.

1. have you installed Microsoft Security Essentials on the computer?
2. do you have anti-virus software installed on the computer?
If you have installed Microsoft Security Essentials, it has its own antimalware feature. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.
Check if that helps.
