Do not display WMF thumbnails

I have some lareg WMF (Windows Metafile) file from the Microsoft Clip art site. In XP they always displayed as thumbnails, but since I changed to Vista I can't see one of them. I see some files JPG and PNG, appearing as the pictures, but none of the WMF files.

I checked the settings under Folder Options and checked that "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is NOT checked. Also, the display is set to average-sized icons, but it does not matter what I choose in this drop, as none of the WMF files display.

Even more curious, is that the folders that contain several types of files (such as JPG, PNG, WMF) will display thumbnails of all but the WMF files.

Can anyone provide any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hello Tom_Rawls,

Thank you for your message.  You cannot view .wmf thumbnails is because file recognized as a serious security threat, so Microsoft has disabled this feature in Vista.  If you still want to display thumbnails, you will need a 3rd party software such as www.xnview.comWeb.  I have attached a few articles that explain the threat to security for your comment.

  • file names are not displayed under thumbnails

    CS 5

    Mac os 10.6.7

  • Windows 8 photos are not displayed as thumbnail preview what I can do?

I searched google and tried most of two simple ways to fix it.

First I went to edit forlder and search options > view, then the first box was already unchecked, so no change there.

Then I made on computer properties > advanced system settings > performance > settings but also the box say: show the photos instead of icons has been already verified.

What can I do else? I have pictures on the hard drive of my copied pc of smartphone Jpg files, but is not visible from the preview thumbnails.

Open the folder where you have the number and then follow these steps:

    1. click on view in the menu bar.
    2. in the options in the Ribbon of the view, click Options.
    3. in the Folder Options box, go to the view tab.
    4. on the tab selected, under the list of advanced settings, uncheck the box always show icons, never thumbnails to activate thumbnails preview.

If this is not enough, you need to show hidden files in this folder, and then delete the Thumbnails.db file (if you have one in this case). Here's how:

    1. open the folder you have the problem with.
    2. click on view in the menu bar.
    3. in the options in the Ribbon of the view, click Options.
    4. in the Folder Options box, go to the view tab.
    5. click on the option that says: Show hidden files folders or drives and uncheck the option that says: Hide protected operating system files.
    6. click on apply and OK.

Now you see a file named miniature or Thumbnail.db in this folder? If you see one, delete it and restart the computer. Which solves the problem?

Note: Remember to make hidden files appear is not in the computer once you have gone through the troubleshooting. You will need to check the options that you have unchecked in the second series of steps I provided.

  • Thumbnails of files is not displayed correctly?

My question is specific to the video files by extensions of: .avi, .mkv, .mp4, .flv

On my desk, I have 1 .avi file. It displays a thumbnail of a still image of the film. Yet many others my .avi or other video files do not display a thumbnail of a still image. Can someone tell me why this is and if possible, how to solve this problem, so that all my video files display a thumbnail of a still image of the file?

    Thank you!

I would offer 3 suggestions. They are not mandatory.
If you agree to try them, do, in the order they are listed. If you're working, stop doing the rest of the list.

1 do a full scan. Your machine may have caught something.

2 do a check of the filesystem (sfc/scannow)

Start button > Search box type cmd > look up, do a RIGHT click oncmd.exe > click onRun As Administrator > in this window cmd black and white, type at the prompt flashing sfc/scannow > press theENTER key.
Note: there is a space between 'sfc' and ' / '.
To sit and wait. It will take time.
When finished, exit the cmd window.
    Reboot (restart your computer)

    3 do a check disk (chkdsk/f/r)
Start button > Search box, type cmd > look up, right-click oncmd.exe> click on Run As Administrator >

in the black and white window, at the command prompt flashes, type chkdsk/f/r > press the Enter key.
Note: there is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.
The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.

Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait.

  • the thumbnails are not displayed?

My thumbnails are not displayed in recent times.  This isn't the case for each of them only.

It goes to the old thumbnails years ago and more recently.

Select one and turn your back then turn - this should fix it - then you can do it for large groups of thumbnails at a time

  • Do not display thumbnails of photo

    Hello

I have a few thousand photos stored in several files. When I access folders to display the photos a lot of thumbnails are just gray boxes, while other images loading partially before becoming gray boxes themselves. When I double click on a gray box or a picture do not show a thumbnail image, I told myself that the I need to improve my Windows Photo Gallery. However, it seems to date.

I searched the internet for weeks. Can anyone help please?

    Thank you very much

    Hey Gacartwright,

I found a post by another user who had the same gray box problem you encounter. They were able to get their thumbnails back leaving the window upward all night (a long period of time). This allowed the system to compile again, the miniature database compensating for the problem.  Here's the link where I found another post.

  • Photo not displayed in preview thumbnails on Windows 8

    Dear team,

I need help on the mentioned theme. I use Windows 8 and Windows Explorer does not display thumbnail previews for images like what I used to have in Windows 7.
I check the Folder Options and make sure that the "always show icons, never thumbnails" option is not selected. I have also check via the System Properties and make sure that 'show thumbnails instead of icons' is enabled. However, I still couldn't preview thumbnails for images.
Is there a solution for this problem? Or is there some Windows updates that go to my Windows 8 in order to make it work?
    Please advise.
Thank you and have a nice day.
    Kind regards

I tried all the recommendations found here and could not solve the problem. I thought something I installed so I sort my apps install / update date and found that I had just updated to version Java 8. I uninstalled it and Wah - lah! I have my thumb nails back! I hope this helps someone!

  • The Explorer does not display a pdf thumbnails

The Explorer does not display a pdf thumbnails

    Hi Ken,

With several comments from our clients and requests for the same thing, we have implemented return thumbnail preview.

With the update of October of Acrobat DC published last month, we added back support for PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer for 32-bit systems.

Please note that by default, it is disabled. To activate the same, please go to Edition-> Preferences-> general and turn ON the thumbnail «Previews Enable PDF» checkbox in Windows Explorer

In a future update of the software Reader / Acrobat DC, we are looking at the possibility of adding back to back support of PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer for systems 64 bit as well.

    Kind regards

  • I've updated the plan of the photographer and since the download, I had problems nonstop with fluidity and now the bridge is not displayed large previews, a few thumbnails. I restarted and reset the tool, is there anything else I can do or should I cancel

I've updated the plan of the photographer and since the download, I had problems with non stop with fluidity and now the bridge is not displayed large previews, a few thumbnails. I restarted and reset the tool, is there anything else I can do or do I cancel my subscription to the CC and return to the CS6?

The problem of fluidity can be the result of a graphics card problem:

Try to uncheck the box in the preferences > performance > graphics processor use, then by restarting Photoshop. If this solves the problem, check with the manufacturer about a possible update.

On the bridge: when you select an image and press the space bar, what happens?

  • Elements 8 Organizer is not display thumbnails of .mts

I opened two support with Adobe on this issue tickets and one unresponsive and the 2nd case technology has not even read my post to let him know what I already tried.

I even completely reinstalled windows 7 x 64 and ONLY installed Adobe Photoshop/elements and thumbnails for my AVCHD (.mts) files do not appear.  My videos HDV (.m2ts) do.  Thumbnails appear in the elements, but not in the menu organiser... which makes the Organizer without value for me because that's the real reason, I upgraded.

I see where othere have had this problem but I have not seen a "fix."  I suspect it's because it's a bug and adobe it won't fix until maybe version 9.

    Frustrated

    Hello

It is a recurring problem with Premiere elements 8 and there is no solution for it. But there is a solution that works well and successfully.

Rename the .mts .m2ts file and then import the file into the first elements 8.

To get the name extension make sure that you have disabled the option of the "do not display Extension" in the view tab of the folder in the Tools menu options.
