  The problem seems to be resolved.  I tried to attach documents to Word for outgoing mail.  When I chose the attached file (trombone) the list of documents came but when selected a file and clicking on open there is no response and I also lost my project.  It seems now work, I haven't opened the taps of security but don't think I've really changed anything.   In any case, thank you for your response and I am impressed by the 'Microsoft community '.
