Does she not get the restored properly - Windows Vista Edition family

I did a backup on 2 of vdv - that, once accomplished was reported as successful. Now, I have restored my laptop to factory settings since she was infected. When I use the Center backup and restore and Advanced Restore option - files from a backup made on a different computer - then the hard drive. He starts the backup asking if some files or all - I choose all files in the backup. It then proceeds...

I got the c# edition installed with which came the SQl-whiel restore the backup of the ih said there is problem with the authorization of users for SQL 2 related records - I click on go come without affecting the rights of the user. In this case 2 times.

In the meanwhiel, it shows a lot of files being restored in the progress bar. Then he gives erroe that the label of the disc in the drive is not 1 user-Pc-DateofBackup-disk name where as the disk name is the default name assigned when the backup is performed, which is the name of user-Pc-DateofBackup (may not be the suffix of disc 1).

Then I choose the option ignore this and drive 2-, it gives the same error...

When I check - I find a lot of files is restored, but they contain no data/files.

Help, please.

Here is an article on the restore procedure: http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your processes more closely than would a full restore (which is not available in Vista Home anyway).

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work): http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that the backup location is not available " ")

10. and you press "next".

11 guess what... no error!

12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).  I hope you find any error or discrepancy in your procedure and it will clear up and allow you to restore.

I hope this helps.

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

  • Is it possible to get the files for windows vista, so I can reinstall my system?

    Hello

Im a user of linux on one machine HP Pavilion dv5-1095eo leisure. IM tired to restart my machine to run a windows OS, so is possible for me to get the files for windows vista. I got the windows key attached under the computer and I don't have any windows CD when I brought the machine.

    Hello:

You can do your own installation disc Vista too if you wish.

If you can read your 25-character product key MS, you can make your own Windows Vista installation disc. You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

I selected no, make the ISO file.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them (just before going forward with the actual facility) and they seem to work perfectly.

Apparently, when you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

  • Is it still possible to get the 64-bit Windows Vista support?

    Hello!

Well, I have a copy to authentic detail, under license of Windows Vista Edition Home Premium. He put 32 bit media. But at the time when Vista comes out, I could order the 64-bit Vista Home Premium support which I use today with the same license key that came on the parcel.
About a year ago I bought the Windows Vista Express upgrade, which is valid for a Home Premium to Ultimate upgrade. But the disk is 32-bit only! So, I was wondering if it is still possible to get the 64-bit separately, support only this time, for the edition of Vista Ultimate? I ask this question because I would like to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, but still run on 64-bit, since I can't spend 64-bit Home Premium to Ultimate 32 - bit.
I know that it may be too late now, given the fact that Windows 7 is already out and Windows 8 is in its phase of consumer preview now. But I am not really interested in upgrading to one of them at this stage. All I really want is just to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, but I need the 64-bit support, since I already have the license key.
Maybe that Microsoft may allow me to download an ISO image of the Vista Ultimate 64-bit? That would be good enough for me, I don't care for the physical disc, it is not really necessary. I could get some pirate site or something like that, since I already own not one but two licenses, but I don't want that.
    Thanks in advance!

The disks are probably non-destinee resale and this may explain the color.

The Express Upgrade product key is specific to an upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate.  The product key with the expedition is probably a full license key.

    > By 'Matrix Vista upgrade', you mean upgrading one bit-version to the other, like 64-bit to 32-bit or 32-64, right?

N ° upgrade matrix tells you if an upgrade installation is allowed or a custom installation is required when moving from one edition of Windows to another.

    > Also, if I use a key Vista Home Premium that I have today to install Home Premium and then upgrade to Vista Ultimate, what happenes to my old key? The old key become invalid/replaced by the new key that I got the update? I mean where I want to go back to the old edition, I've had to go back to Vista Home Premium, I reuse this old key?

You can use the old key to return to the old edition.  However, you can not use the key to install the old edition on a different computer.  The old key is bound to the key to upgrade.

    > "" If a user is running a 32-bit version of Windows, a user can only be upgraded to another 32-bit version: upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit requires a clean installation. ""

Now you are confusing a "install update" with an 'upgrade license '.  A retail upgrade license is valid to move from a 32-bit edition to a 64-bit edition, but an upgrade installation is not allowed and a custom installation is required (due to the change in the number of bits of the installation).

    > And now Microsoft will probably speed up the versions of Windows, with new versions coming out every two years or more, or has done.

Not true.  Microsoft has been on a cycle of three years for a long time.  There is no speed upward.  Vista has been delayed for two years, when Microsoft declared a moratorium until security problems in Windows have been fixed (XP SP2 was the result).

    > I don't know about Windows 7. I don't know if I'll get it or wait for Windows 8. I hear a lot of misfortunes for Windows 7

I don't know where you got this info.  Windows 7 is much better than Vista or XP.  Vista is the one that is panned by critics as a real dog.  Try Windows 7 and you will never look back.
