It seems that the Inspiron 3531 is sold with no internal DVD drive, the laptop has a Bay for optical drive with a filling that is installed at the factory [Page 17]

You will need to buy an external drive USB DVD, similar to this:

When you request support, please provide the model name and product number complete (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are on the bottom, back, next to your computer or on the BIOS boot screen. DO NOT include your serial number.

Any hard drive should be able to work on your computer, as it is the same type of interface. After replacing the hard drive, you may need to check that it is seen by the BIOS.

After replacing the hard drive, use the HP recovery media that you created when you first set up your computer to return the computer to a factory State. If you don't create this media, media must be bought from HP customer care through a depression. This method can be valid in the United States and the Canada. Contact customer support and see if you can ask the media

  • Satellite L50D - Boot problems after replacing the hard drive

I just upgraded my hard drive of the pathetic crod 5400 they provide to a SSHD@7200rpm, but now have a major issue.

I initially image the operating system from the old hard drive to the new drive and have had chronic start-up problems (1-3-4 attempts to start to succeed if it fails at any time (often to the Toshiba start screen)).

I reinstalled from a drive under Win 8.1 plain own ENT (trying to avoid the bloatware) and it is exactly the same number and is what I used to format the laptop very well with previously and had previously worked.

I tried reformatting and reinstalling (by removing all partitions on each attempt) to the CSM, unsafe UEFI and UEFI secure. MCS is a straight line never works not proceed and both UEFI methods have the same exact result.

I tried with original restore disks and it seems to work (not had time to fully test) but I don't want the bloatware and it shouldn't be serious since, if I were a customer who forgot to make restore disks (too often) and just have to have a failed hard drive or replaced sacrificed the laptop would be now a door stop.

This seems as bad as Apple to lock people in.

So I would appreciate ideas of people to please, I don't know if there is a program that is supposed to take place on a new drive as PS3 etc (I doubt it), but that leads me into the wall, and will be the last time that I consider Toshiba as anything other than a joke, if there is no solution.

I had to replace the hard disks many times in my previous Toshiba laptops and were devoid of this crod, it has something to do with UEFI which seems more a nuisance than a help right now.

    TIA.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should first check if the startup problem is related to the new installed HARD drive or new installed system.
You said that the laptop fails to start up often to the Toshiba start screen.

The splash screen appears during the POST (power on self-test) procedure. During this test, the material will be checked.
I m wondering if the hybrid SSD/HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS during this particular step.

From my point of few, this could be the reason why the system cannot be started.

    Another important note:
The 8.1 win requires enable start secure as well as the UEFI boot mode.
Therefore, you must enable both options in the BIOS.

Last but not least check if you are using the latest BIOS version as latest firmware for the hybrid SSD/HDD

  • Old hard drive installation

I just bought a HP a6700f. My 3 - year entry door, blew its motherboard.

I have the gateway hard drive... a sister 500 GB Hitachi drive.

I want to install my HP as a second hard drive Hitachi.

I don't know how to tell it that the slave is master or none of it. I do not know which of the cables inside the box to you connect.

Where can I find the instructions very simple to do this?

Depending on how old your gateway, your old hard drive might be IDE or SATA.  Your news is SATA.  Rather than going into how to connect to your new RESUME, it is perhaps easier to get a box (enclosure) external to the old hard drive and mount it in there. You will not be able to run old programs on the new HP, but you can get in the data files (for example, Quicken data file) and move to the new drive.

You can reinstall the programs on the new computer that you bought programs and still have the media to reinstall.  Impossible to copy programs out of the old drive and expect to work on the new computer.

BTW: you could look in the book provided with your new computer for upgrade instructions.  At least when I bought my new HP, there was such a booklet to see how.  If your computer is NEW, I wouldn't spoil you by installing the old drive in there if you don't know what you're doing.

  • Hard drive and RAM for Pavilion dv6 - 6123cl

Hello! I want to change my ram and my hard drive. The ram will be 8 GB and 2 TB drive, I wonder if I used the hard drive, if supported? and with regard to the ram, if I have to buy one that is compatible or anyone served me?

    Thank you! : smileywink:

    Here is the Manual:

    Repair manuals

You are located in the United States? If not, where? Country only just so we can connect you to a source for hard disk and memory.

Page 62 on the hard drive and 66 for the memory.

You must open the door to the memory and see if you have a 4 gig stick or a 2 x 2. If you have 1 x 4, you just need to get another to have 8. If you have 2 x 2, you need get 2 x 4.

You need DDR3-1333 mhz SO-DIMM memory and you need a 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick hard SATA. 2 TB disks are not really available on the market. 1 TB is about as big you'll find there.

Post back with your country of residence, and we can connect you to a good online store. If your hard disk does not well at the moment you use the HP Recovery Manager to burn DVDs to put the software on the new recovery disc.

  • Satellite A10 - lsass.exe constantly reading & writing HARD drive

    Hello!

Two weeks ago, I asked here a piece of advice from my Satellite A10 has bombarded me with messages on "bad clusters" and "not being able to write this or that" on my HARD drive. I thought that my HARD drive was too old and bad functioning, and maybe it should be replaced.

Now, I know that the cause of my problems is Windows XP.
As soon as he starts lsass.exe this horrible process is constantly read and write something on the HARD drive.

As a result, it keeps my HARD drive so busy that all programs that I use can not work properly: when they want to write something on my HARD drive it must wait and wait. And I think this incessant and door reading wrote on the poor HARD disk.

I googled for a solution (it seems that there are other victims who are unable to get rid of the unwelcome lsass.exe) and I tried to prohibit files indexing and system recovery but these solutions do not work for me. Is there another remedy known to this naughty lsass?

I have Windows XP Toshiba Recovery Disk and lately this lsass were so widespread that I can not download updates for XP SP2 or SP3. So, if there is a good solution, it must be for the Virgin XP SP1...

    Help, please!

    Hello

Lsass.exe belongs to the Windows operating system and it s a Microsoft file!
It is a path to the file: windows\system32\lsass.exe

    I found these details:
+ "lsass.exe" is the local security authentication server. It checks the validity of the user on your PC/server logons. It generates the process responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service. +

I put t think that the file can be removed or should be removed.

  • Should I replace my hard drive of my MacBook Pro?

I'm trying to decide if I need to replace the hard drive of my MacBook Pro (mid 2009) with a new... or

    Buy a refurbished MacBook Pro?

I'm afraid that if something is not Apple does not work on it because I have installed by a third party.  If I bought a refurbished Apple, they cover with the warranty...

    I can't afford a brand new...

I have someone else would install so I do not need instructions...

    Any opinions?

    Thank you

    Artsytexan

Replacing the drive does not cancel any warranty... you got the instructions with your system to replace the RAM and HD.  The only thing the Genius Bar should do is charge you for repairing the damage you cause change RAM and HD.  But... I changed the two enough times to know that it takes every inch to do this.

iFixit.com has instructions for changing the RAM and HD.  Or an Apple authorized qualified service center.

OWC (macsales.com) door RAM and SSD (more expensive, faster) and HDs (less expensive, slower) that can stabilize your system.  HD + RAM would be about $200, add in $100 extra for disk backup and external fixation for the reader.  You can do it.

I have HP pavilion 15-n208tx and he has 1 TB HDD installed I want to replace with 2 TB HDD. And I want to know if my upgrade of the portable hard drive of computer support please tell me as soon as possible.

Yes as long as it is not thicker than 9.5 mm you can replace the disk of 1 TB with a 2 TB drive. You may find it useful to have handy maintenance manual:

    Your repair manuals

See p. 59. The Service door on the bottom gives access to the memory and the wifi card. Replacing the hard drive requires significant disassembly and is technically only supposed to be done by an authorized service provider. The guarantee will be compromised in other words. If you just need a lot of storage space, you may want to consider a second hard drive bay adapter optical to know where the DVD player.
