Double disc HARD MacPro boots on one, not the other

I have a MacPro 2008 with two drives hard bootable. We have OS x 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and the other Mavericks 10.9.5. I use the first for my daily work and the second opportunity for LogicPro.

The drive of the Mavericks has stopped booting and I don't know how to fix it. It appears as an option if I hold the alt key after the Gong to start, but if I select it, I just get the gray Apple logo screen for several minutes and eventually Mac starts on Snow Leopard disk. The two drives appear in the startup disk pane in the Control Panel, but by selecting the Mavericks an and the reboot leads to the same result.

The volume of the Mavericks is visible from Snow Leopard, I can open the files subject to the permissions of the user, so I can't to my Logic Pro files. I had some weird user account problems when I installed the Mavericks on the second disc of the first and had to set up a new Userid on it.

I ran disk utility (when it is started from Snow Leopard), which notes that the Mavericks drive is OK. I ran repair permissions and the ERD; the first made many changes, this last, no.

I tried to reset the PRAM.

I tried out the Snow Leopard disc there is only the Mavericks in the Mac.

In case it is relevant, Snow Leopard is sitting on a 960 GB SSD, Mavericks on a classic 500 GB drive (which was the original drive provided with the Mac). The content of all the two have been cloned at least once using Carbon Copy Cloner through other intermediate readers, and both worked very well several times in the current configuration since the cloning of the last.

I still have a disk of 250 GB which was the first facility of Mavericks/LogicPro and could restore but would not be able to get to any LogicPro project since this swap.

Any suggestions please?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive

Make sure that you have a current backup before continuing.

Boot to HD recovery: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen to appear.

Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left.  Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.

Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.

  • A video on any website is presented in double, one on the other!

    Every time I want to see a video, any site, it is case, the screen, the video is on, shows two images from the video. Basically, the video is condensed into two, one above the other, making them wider, but I don't know why he show two!

    This appears to have happened after the last update of Adobe Flash Player. Could be a compatibility issue with Firefox, because the problem does not appear in Internet Explorer. Have not yet tried all other browsers.

    For me, it seems that the two images that appear are similar to those used in the manufacture of 3D movies, but instead view overlap them, they are displayed separately. It's just a wild guess and I have no evidence to back this up.

    Later edit: I found a work around for this problem. Right-click on any incorrect display video and choose settings. On one of the tabs found there is a checkbox "enable hardware acceleration". It has been activated for me, after having stopped it and restart the video browser was back to normal.

    If you disable the detection of wrist (on your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: Watch My > General > wrist detection), it will make all notification alerts to be delivered to both devices. However, you will not be able to benefit from features including screen Wake on wrist lift, Apple pay and one unblock after placing the watch on your wrist.

    I use my cell phone as my computer on travel. When I come home, I transfer my data to my main catalog on my desktop. Sometimes, the files remain on my laptop and I made changes to some of my files.

    I was trying to identify objects through finder that I've changed since I added changed files from my laptop to my desktop. My intention was to identify the XMP files that have changed since I added the files from my laptop to my desktop.

    Do not do this through xmp. Some elements are never written to .xmp.

    To do this through the sequence of command as follows:

    • On the laptop, in Lightroom, select the photos you want, then use the menu file-> export as catalog command. If the pictures are not on the desktop, check the box that says "negative."
    • Copy all the files created on the desktop
    • On the desktop, use the command file-> import from another catalog and point Lightroom in the laptop just transferred catalog file.

    Which leaves the question of how to identify the photos changed recently. Create a collection of smart with the criterion that the modification Date is greater than YYYY-MM-DD, where of course which is the date of interest.

    Maximum machines, the license can be activated is 2. Somehow, it seems that on your side the same license can be activated on any 3rd machine as well.

    Activating the license on any other machine, please select the option to disconnect all other devices and try again.

    This page has some errors coming JavaScript on it.  If you press Ctrl-Shift-J or Cmd-Shift-J on a Mac in Google Chrome you will bring up the javascript console.  Anything in red is usually a javascript error or a 404 error for assets that are not found... you should always try to clean them.

    In this case, your "expstickybar.js" file is loaded on this page, and he introduces a "jQuery.noConflict (); statement that basically removes the possibility of using the variable ' $' as a quick trigger jQuery methods.  This is not the case on the pages of your catalogue main is because you only reference this script with a relative url: 'expstickybar.js', so when you are on your catalog at http://www.thesanfordcenter.net/suite-menu/appetizers page then it is looking for your javascript to http://www.thesanfordcenter.net/suite-menu/appetizers/expstickybar.js files so it is not find it is coming as a 404 error.

    On a side note, also included two libraries jQuery in your site and that is never a good idea... you have jQuery 1.4.2 loading in the HEAD of your page or the page template and then you are also to load jQuery 1.6.2 in the BODY of your page or your page template.  You must use one or the other.  1.4.2 is old enough now, so if I was you, after you try to correct the mistake of jQuery.noConflict () you have got going, you need to move this jQuery 1.6.2 reference in your BODY element and replace it with jQuery 1.4.2 marked in your HEAD.

    Also - you should change your reference in your page templates to make the "expstickybar.js" a URL relative to the root instead of a relative URL of the file.  Change:

    Guys, I have a problem. So, my laptop has 2 graphics cards, an integrated course of the Intel HD graphics (which works perfectly) and the other being the dedicated Nvidia graphics (Nvidia GeForce 940 m). Until 2 days ago, everything was going well and running.

    I have the application experience GeForce and it prompted me that there is a new driver update should I download. He started to install then after rebooting to complete the installation, it failed. I checked my device manager and saw a yellow exclamation under under my Nvidia graphics card (remember, my laptop has two graphics cards: Nvidia graphics card and Intel HD graphics that works correctly).     If I pick up my laptop and shake it side by side, I hear a slight rattling noise, and it seems a little loose (I found this out after seeing the error message). The noise seems to come from just below the middle of my keyboard (I'm using a laptop). If for some reason, my Nvidia card is loose? Is this possible?

    I am quite technologically inclined, but not to the extent of removing components and reconstruction cell phones / pc and access the bios and what not. I can only remove/add ram.

    I want to know if its something I am able to fix it because I do not necessarily want to go running and sending my laptop places - only my pc up shop.

    As you can see - the video works very well in this last example (it's the same hierarchy). But why don't you see the video on my site? You can take a look at the source for staggclan.com on this page and you can see that I'm NOT xreferencing my hard drive and I am referencing an image that has not been downloaded (although I was - you would see at least one indicator 'broken image'). It does not even include space for where this video should be - it's as if he was not yet placed there.

    For the life of me I don't know what the problem is. Why is - that will work in a field, but not the other (both hosted by 1 & 1. com)? One who can correctly solve this problem for me will find me ETERNALLY THANKFUL.

    I'm just using DW8 to insert this .swf on a page. Obviously, I had deleted by mistake the "Scripts" folder is published with the course when I put on my server - so - no multimedia.

    Its a long time I have been using DW since now, we mainly use eLearning software rapid development. Gawd how I miss DW. Fortunately, I get to 'play' with it from time to time on the home front and have since updated my 'official' home-homepage which is now showing the video correctly:

  • FF jump between tabs if I have several open at the same time and it sometimes seems to be trying to load the same page one above the other

    When running FF for awhile, it starts to jump between different tabs I have open without clicking anything whatsoever. Also, it will sometimes appear that another copy of the same tab I have open try to open again at the top of page. The address bar that appears at the bottom of page loading will appear one above the other and the page will jump up and down about a 1/8th of an inch. Out of the enclosure, then by restarting FF does not solve the problem. I have to restart the computer and then restart FF for him to quit.

    I changed to Chrome and it doesn't, but I prefer the FF browser so I can get this fixed number.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do not click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

    Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

    Hmm I n t think so.
    As far as I know that these drives support not all CD or DVD and it s nothing unusual that one or the other DVD may not be recognized correctly.

    Sometimes a firmware update could allow the reader to recognize more kind of CD and DVD, but on the other hand, no one can say that this update might help.
