downgrade from vista to xp pro installed factory

I have my acer travelmate 5720 laptop before semi-bas sisters had vista (not sure which version) as a pre installed... She wanted to xp pro... they downgraded it via three cd discs... the laptop was bought from pc world... She let go of his daughter on this subject and he got a massive amount of virus on this subject in the course of a year... I ran malware anti-malware and mcafee to clean but it froze dead. My sister had the understanding that she was in possession of the xp os disk pro as part of the three-disc set that provided her with the new laptop... She had never backed up his sys disk and relied on the fact of his duty of these discs unless something was wrong , she could just re - install xp pro of the said records... There were three partitions on his laptop computer on this disc... some had the remnants of his old vista to factory (I think) within IT... the second was here personal backup space and then finally the live Webcam c: windows partition... a label key of vista on the underside of your laptop without label of xp key only the key of vista... Despite many attempts to re - install disks said the bone was never given on... windows installed but there is no os... in a last ditch attempt to recover the laptop, she bought an XP pro disk from e - bay with its license tag... before I install this to his laptop is it possible to use the old key of vista with the new windows xp disk to return and use the license key of the part bottom of the laptop computer and save the new software and key to another pc? .. .i have read some threads on decommissioning, but it does not explain how 'reuse' an old but valid license key on the original... She bought the license for software/computer laptop / touch so its hers to use probably still, or do we install this new copy of xp, even if it means that this laptop would have actually two xp pro key and a vista key assigned?

Please can someone enlighten us on this thorny and confusing subject :)

Thanks for your time, he seems to have found a result... as this was a company pc world pre installation of vista and then brought back to xp pro, it seems that the hidden restore partition was a vestige of vista, can't be totally sure as that, but I re - partition the drive as a single drive, not as three discs rather small and then tried three discs provided to my sister with the installation she bought. I have the plonked in the drive after and all is well. I know I lost the recovery option, but with the disks now works very well, I don't seem to need the additional hidden partitions. could something in hidden files have jumped to the top of the first re-setup, I tried when the laptop was the recovery partitions? ... still am, typing this answer you on him and all seems well, still a little confused on the subject of how a system downgraded keeps the files for a more early system (vista) installed not those of a downgrade from xp pro? I only wish that I had taken a shot before I ever had a chance to examine hidden :(files

Once again, thank you, I'll have to look at the discs that I've been able to burn images of fron in the hidden partition and keep you updated on what they were if all goes well.

Regards, rob

  • Downgrade from Vista to XP Pro

My company bought a laptop computer for us to use around the laboratory. The Dell Latitude D630 has been bundled with Windows Vista. We prefer to use Windows XP Pro to maintain consistency and ensure that all programs "home-made or home ' run as it should. What are my options to downgrade from Vista to Xp Pro? Thank you.

If you have a retail version of Windows XP with the product key, Yes. As long as there are drivers available for this computer to Windows XP from the manufacturer.

  • Need help with this problem without downgrading from Vista to XP pro.

OK so I have a problem, but it is in a common category, it is a rare problem as given that everywhere I look I can't seem to find someone who has the same problem.

Question #1: Heres Alright so my question downgrade from vista 64 bit of the month last to XP pro SP2... Well, I'm going through the process of installation very well, wipe the hard drive, make new partion (or how ever spell you it) etc. It starts the formatting, and it installs everything seems to be fine. Now when it comes to the reboot screen it counts down it restarts correctly now, this is where the problem occurs. During the restart of the process rather than continue through the installation process which should be, where it says "Press any key to boot from the CD" soon after that instead of going into the installation process it says "disc read error" or something of the sort just underneath. Help, please!

Question #2 also now that I re installed vista I did all good also, erased the hard disk (even I tried to install XP on) just to make sure they had no data on this. Well now, during startup it asks if I want "a previous version of windows" or "Windows XP" as if I double started somehow. Vista loads still very well when I choose it however. If I managed to do an install own success of XP it should fix right?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Kevin112,

Thanks for posting. Follow these steps on your XP disk.

    1. place your Windows XP installation CD and start to her...
    2. Press any button to start the Windows installation (don't worry... we do not actually use the installer at this point)
    3. wait a few moments for the installation program starts, when you see repair an installation of Windows XP using the Recovery Console, and then press the R key
    4. wait until you see this screen, enter the number of your master installation. (Typically 1 to C:\Windows)
    5. press ENTER.
    6. If you are prompted to do so, enter your administrator password. If you don't have one, leave the field blank and press to enter.
    7. from the command prompt, type: chkdsk/r (note the space between chkdsk and / r)
    Allow it to complete undisturbed.
    8. remove the disc, then restart.

After completing this, then format it and try to reinstall XP again. As for your other question if completely format you your drive using XP you should not see the previous version of XP. The only reason you would see that it's the Vista BCD is located on a second hard drive in your computer. If this is the case and you want to do an install own format two readers please.

  • Downgrade from vista to XP pro on Pavilion dv3-2005ee (need drivers)

    Hello

I want to downgrade from vista to XP SP3 because some old games on does not work on vista as Hitman:codename 47 and TheSims... etc.

Then... I need help to find the driver for this laptop. I did a forum search for my model and found nothing.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Before that we'll start with her, I have something to tell you. Decommissioning of this model is not always easy, and your model is designed to work well with Vista. Please check first that link written by Joshua Wood and concentrate on problems that may appear when you install the sound card in it. I don't know then it's dv5 guide, but a lot of hardware and drivers are the same for both models. It is recommended also by me to print this guide and information on the problems with the sound card.

First make the Vista backup. Here you have all the information, how do.

You have a folder with the drivers & programs that can prove very useful after downgrade XP. Copy the folder in C:\Swsetup on DVD Before you format your hard drive.

Now you need to integrate your drivers Sata (only x 86 drivers) win nLite.

Here is the guide how to do it and here are AMD SATA AHCI Controller for you. Just unRAR it drivers with winrar.

Remember, also, that you use the Windows XP SP2 version. If you have not got the version SP2 here you can download this service pack

and here you guide how to integrate this file with your new system of nLite.

In this program, you can even burn your new XP cd with this driver.

  • If I downgraded from Vista to XP Pro business, can I go back to Vista Business later?

I bought 11 of these machines in early 2008.  They are machines HP DC5800 comes with Vista business with the ability to go back to XP Pro.  I was not sure about Vista yet again on my work network so I spent in them.  Now that has been support for XP until 2014 and Vista has improved with the SP1, I expect these machines to upgrade to Vista now that I have Windows Vista Business OEM product keys.

Am I allowed to upgrade to Vista with OEM product key I have?

Am I allowed to upgrade to Vista with OEM product key I have?

You should have a product key for Windows Vista. Yes, you can use Windows VIsta Business because it is what came with the machine and is probably on the CoA sticker on the unit itself.  You have also bought the right to downgrade to Windows XP.  You can use an operating system on these machines and switch back if necessary.  What I can't say is whteher or not will require a clean install, because it is OEM software.  (Vista to XP - clean install only... OEM XP to Vista OEM, I don't remember.)

But I think I should comment on a few things...

You mentioned Windows Vista SP1? (Released 2008-03-18).  Given that Windows Vista SP2 is now (aired on 25/05/2009), you are not just back - you are far behind.  Probably more than a hundred patches AFTER SP2 as well.

Personally - for a company (or personal) - I switch to Vista and get Windows 7.  However, this would cost money.  Given that you are still an 11 year old operating system now and considering just the upgrade to an operating system almost 6 years now, on the edge of another new OS coming out in a few months - put two OSes still behind the curve...  This probably isn't something you / your company is ready to do.  Maybe because the software that you have does not work on a modern operating system?

-These PCs you have, they have Celeron processors.  You're probably better from a performance perspective - without spending money - not even their upgrade to Windows Vista.  Maybe if you have 3 + GB of memory in each...?

You can watch the lifecycle for Vista Business too:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?sort=PN&Alpha=Vista+Business&filter=FilterNO

    and

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/lifecycle

You are already in the cycle of extended support for Windows Vista, just as you are for Windows XP.

April 8, 2014 is the end of extended support (no more patches for Windows XP) and April 11, 2017 for Windows Vista.  Yes - 3 years - but these machines (hardware) have been at the end of life for a while. especially if they have processors celeron as the web page for the given model.

  • Satellite A210-downgrade from VISTA to XP Pro SP2 - unknown base system device

I recently bought a laptop. On the Toshiba product page, it is listed as Satellite A210-199 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3). If I followed the link to the drivers page, he is listed as Equium A210 (PSAFGE-05M00FG3).

the laptop came with VISTA Home premium, I don't like / want, but works perfectly. After complete installation of Windows XP SP2 home edition Professional, (latest updates, all the drivers of Toshiba home page, etc.), hardware device Manager lists a "DEVICE BASIC SYSTEM" under "system devices", for which he cannot find drivers (Yes, it automatically searches on the internet and that did not help either).

I tried to uninstall the device and restart it, just to see what happens. And I got the ball from the standard taskbar with 'new hardware found '. Windows still do not find the drivers for it, and it still lists as a yellow exclamation in the hardware device manager. The only difference is that now he is no longer in the "system devices" section, but instead, it's an "unknown device" in the "other devices" section (you know, the big icon question yellow mark)

After a thorough cleaning is reinstalled, it is always an "unknown device" under the heading "other devices."

EDIT: maybe I should also mention that when I install graphics and sound card, says windows drivers I changed some important system files and I have to put the original cd with kit WXP SP2.

Have you installed all the drivers provided on the European driver Toshiba page?

I mean divers for card reader controller, AMD processor driver, Driver Modem, infrared Driver, etc.

    Please check all these drivers!

  • Presario C551NR (C500) Downgrade from Vista to XP Pro

    Hello

I have a Presario C551NR comes with Vista Home Basic I want to install XP Pro on.  I saw the (excellent) CherylG article, but the C500 series is not expressly mentioned in his post.  Well, I want to do everything necessary to make the change, but I would like to know is it possible before starting down what could be a long road and rocky!

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thank you

    George

Should be pretty easy to accomplish. Just enter the BIOS and disable the native SATA mode if you do not want to integrate driver and burn a new cd of XP.

You have Intel Chipset and Intel 950 graphics. Most of these pilots are in the link in the Guide for VX5xx and below. Should also find your Broadcom wireless driver there.check now your device manager to make sure wireless since HP uses Intel and Broadcom, Atheros.

A nice feature is that HP posted a Conexant Audio & Modem on your Drivers XP page. You will need MS UAA installed first by following the instructions in the XP Guide. I also noticed a Synaptics touchpad driver here.

Excellent... Thank you Daniel. That MS doesn't have the stuff, but at least it helped identify the wifi card. After the installation of sp39403 the wifi in the device manager card installs other devices - network to network cards controller real but has an exclamation point. Pilot wasn't always right. He has been identified as a series of card Atheros AR5009. I searched and found an updated driver sp42654 (tried to add shortcut HTML) and loaded. Card WiFi immediately started working.

Success, finally. I think that everything is operational under a best Windows XP Pro instead of Vista.

  • Satellite L300 PSLB8A - cannot locate the WLan adapter after downgrading from Vista to XP

    Model - L300 Satellite PSLB8A-01F004
    Australian model
    Place of residence current UK

Happy new year to you all. I have a problem with the adapter wireless following a downgrade from Vista to XP Pro home. Device Manager indicates that a network adapter, which is the LAN and it does not work properly.

I have two points with one exception - Ethernet controller and Modem on Bus High Definition Audio device.

I find all the major engines of the Toshiba Australia but he lists three (I think) site possible WLAN - Atheros, RealTek, and one of the other manufacturers.

I tried all three without success but am willing to acknowledge that I can have a mistake, perhaps by installing all three drivers at the same time for example.

The indicator on the front of the box portable wireless lights on or off with the hard switch setting.

I am also unable to locate the display of all available wireless netrworks, this can be a symptom of the driver is not installed.

I tried to locate the wireless card, but it doesn't seem to be accessible through the background panels, including the Panel of RAM module.

    Any ideas please?

    > I have two Articles with one exception - Ethernet controller and Modem on Bus High Definition Audio device.

The Ethernet controller is the WLAN adapter.
I guess that the WLan driver is missing and so the wireless network card does not appear under network adapters

Please check this Toshiba How TO:

This will help you find the right WLan driver for this chip.

  • Satellite U400 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello guys,.

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite U400/03 s with a pre-installed version of Vista business & do not like. It came with a recovery disk for Windows XP Pro product. This confused me a bit. Can I downgrade Vista Business with XP Pro?

My next question is, if I can downgrade to XP Pro I need registry XP with Mircosoft?

Also, if I do not need to register with Mircosoft XP, where can I get the registration key of?

    Greatly forward a response.

    Thank you very much.

    Normand

    Hello

A downgrade from Vista to XP is possible. Why not?
But as far as I know, so you need to reinstall the full specifications but in my opinion, this isn't a problem because you have the XP Recovery disk. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

But before that, you you should burn the Windows Vista recovery disk. How do you know this? You need to start only the Toshiba recovery disc creator and you need a blank DVD. Then the Vista recovery disk will be created, and if you want new Vista, you must start only on this disc. That s all because it contains the settings factory and if all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

If you have installed XP you must register it on Microsoft. It is not necessary.
AFAIK, you must enter a product key. It of already on the recovery disk.

    Welcome them

I got my * _Satellite A200-1M4_ * from Vista to XP pro.
Do I have to downgrade the Bios too and please help me with the necessary drivers for * key to _FN_.

    Thank you

    Hi guys

    I would like to add that the Satellite A200 - 1 M 4 belongs to the * PSAE0E * series.

This series needs a BIOS update after installing XP.
The European driver Toshiba page provides a special version of Win XP BIOS.

In addition, you can find the + Installation Instructions on the page of the driver.

This document provides the proper installation order which is very important to get all the drivers and tools work properly.
