When I click on Yahoo in FF, the page is slow to load. When this happens, email is still slower to load. When it does not load and I click on an e-mail message, the message does not open. Any suggestions? If I delete FF and reinstall it, I'll lose all the information in FF (e.g. bookmarks or preferences)? Thanks in advance for your help.

    BFirst SALVATION,
Just in case, back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox, but before that, you can clear the cache for a specific site in the subject: permissions page.

Select Yahoo mail on this page and forget about the site. This will remove cookies and active connections for mail. Please, restart Firefox and reconnection to Yahoo mail.

If there are other issues, happy to help you.

  • Firefox is to add an extension .part to my downloads and they won't open. Why? Difficulty?

When I download a file, Firefox does 2 things: changes to the file name gibberish-gook of letters and numbers AND adds an extension .part - so the file does not open. It is a NEW problem. If I remove the extension .part manually in the download folder, the file opens, but I still have the problem of the name change. I believe that the extension .part is supposed to disappear when the download is complete, but this does not happen. In addition, my downloads always used to come with their original name, not a name of numbers/letters. Thoughts?

You probably have too much in your Inbox.

    1. Move messages that you see in the user created folders.
    2. OE backup.
    3. Close and open OE.
    4. Compact your folders.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: file | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

    Compress your OE folders:

6: Uncheck work offline and make a manual send/receive.

What now? If you still have questions, after return before doing anything else.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

  • Try to download and my computer won't open the file

I wanted to download Facebook messenger for my office, but it won't work. (don't ask why I want it, I know it's what you thinkthe small bar at the bottom of my screen pops up and had only save and cancel optional.) If I hit, it won't download because it can not open the backup file. If I hit Cancel and then it freezes just straight up. What happened to the "Run" option and why it wont download? It's the same thing the other day, trying to download my songs on Amazon. My computer doesn't have that program to open an .amz file. Once I found a link to let me download Amazon downloader all of this came together and worked for me. It's almost the same thing. Download instructions say to click "run" when it happens, but it's not even an option for me. Then, as I said earlier, if I come out or cancel everything freezes and I can't do the little box go away if I close Internet Explore completely to dismiss as nothing shows in my downloads folder... Help? Oh, I have a HP Pavilion DV7.

    Hi Joanne,

I just downloaded the file without problem. Not sure that it is an EPS file? You will need to open it in an application that supports files .ai (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). Let us know if you're still having problems.

    Thank you

  • Outlook express download old emails read like new unread emails whenever it is open

I turned on my PC and re-opened Outlook express after a 2 week break. Under send/receive I get ALL my emails stored as new unread emails as well as new unread then emails that I was absent. It is about 3000 emails everytime I open Outlook express. How can I limit the send/receive to receive only the emails sent to me from OE last opened?

What Steve said, but I'll elaborate on that a bit.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. Then, remove the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the messages once more, but it should be.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

  • Word (.docx), wil attachments not open via TB, but only if I go to website Fastmail

I was not able to open .docx files attached to e-mail messages when using TB (10, 2013 windows desktop). "Word has encountered an error trying to open the file."

I tried all the suggestions presented by Word.
I tried to download on my desktop and opening.

The only reason why I wonder if tuberculosis is a part of the problem is because if I go to Fastmail webmail and open from there, it WORKS.

BTW, PDF attachments work fine, but not .docx

    I'm out of ideas ab.

Thunderbird does not change the content in any way. and in the message source, you will see the MIME encoded attachment.

    PDF is not affected

What is different from the download of a web page (webmail) and Thunderbird downloading (create the file in the Temp folder). Usually only the way they are treated by the anti-virus.

If it were a framework of Thunderbird, it would be all attachments be damaged the same way so PDF or JPG would also be affected.
Unless your PDF files are smaller than the DOCX. It is perhaps a matter of size, but I doubt. 2 words must be a small enough file...

A bit of googling later (10 Windows is not available in Australia. Thank you Microsoft)

Did you upgrade to Windows 10?
This problem occurs when a document is opened in protected view. Protected mode is a security feature in the office that opens files potentially untrustworthy in a secure sandbox where users can read without fear of the file with their computer.

Hello, it seems that you run a very outdated version of firefox & old plugins - this is a serious security risk, because there have been dozens of corrected critical vulnerabilities from firefox 3.6 was released (it was more than two years ago).

You must do the following as soon as possible:

    • Download and install the latest version of firefox from getfirefox.com
    • Check your plugins to https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ & update all those which are obsolete
    • You can also remove all the toolbars you have installed, because they can cause problems. in firefox, go to tools > addons > extensions and uninstall Yahoo! toolbar, motor driven, Radio TV 2.1 Community Toolbar and "Ask Toolbar". then you can launch the searchreset extension to restore the search parameters which leads crushed...
