Dreamweaver crashes on the fatal XML parsing error
I use Dreamweaver 8 with Vista 7 and it works perfectly since 2007.
Today, it crashed for the first time.
The box on my screen shows: the analysis of structure of document invalid fatal error line: 1 XML file C:\ etc\etc\ gives the file name.
I have not changed this file since the last time that I used it when it worked perfectly.
What can I do to get it working?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Sunny
Before you use the re-setup, try changing in DW, workspaces. panelset.XML is a workspace file and yours seems to be corrupted.

Dreamweaver (CS5) has stopped working. Says the error message - fatal XML parsing error: an invalid document structure, line: 1, I tried to reload DW. No change. I also tried to reset the computer to an earlier date before I rebooted. Also, did not work. Anyone can shed some light?
The first thing to try is the removal of corrupt Cache. Don't forget to turn on the files and hidden folders in your file (Win Explorer or Finder of Mac) Manager.

If this does not help, try to restore preferences

Howdy. I just got this error and I hope there is a quick fix for it. I can't open Dreamweaver - it fails to initialize. I get a fatal XML parsing error:
An invalid document structure, line 1: < file path > double Screen.xml
Has anyone met with this error before?
Please advise - it's very urgent.
Thanks for taking a peek
Best,
IKE
Have not known this, but can you locate this file on your system and move it to another location? After that, restart Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver must re-create this file and I hope that everything will work. Basically something is corrupt in this file and Dreamweaver must recreate a 'proper' version of it - I think. Anyway, this output from test and see if it solves your problem. If this isn't the case, after return and we certainly through other troubleshooting tips...

I have a big problem with Dreamweaver CS4 for Mac. When I want to start DW I get this error that goes something like this: fatal XML parsing error: an invalid document structure, line: 1, file: / filepath/John Workspace.xml
I click ok and get this:
Click on ok and close DW. It gives me no chance to change preferences or whatever it is.
It seems that I need to uninstall and reinstall. What do you recommend? Do I lose all the work I did on the previous sites?
I don't think that there is no need to reinstall. Go to the specified location and delete Workspace.xml of John. Then try to run Dreamweaver. If Dreamweaver still will not start. remove the entire Configuration folder. Dreamweaver should then create a fresh Configuration file the next time you start.
Reinstall without getting rid of the folder Configuration will achieve nothing, because the Configuration file is not deleted when reinstalling. If the Configuration file is damaged, the problems will continue until the corrupted file is deleted.

Can you give us some details? When this message display? Is in your phone or your computer? What is your language? More information you can give us the best.
You use the add-on and Firefox 4? If so, I'll ask you to disable and remove the add-on: Sync is now part of the Firefox browser and you don't need the add-on. [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=644894 some users solved this problem by uninstalling the add-on.]

What Firefox locale (UI language) do you use?
Try a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
- Download the installer of Firefox and save the file to the desktop
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.
- Download the installer of Firefox and save the file to the desktop

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
