Drive DVD W520 does not not with Windows 10

After the upgrade to Windows 10, the DVD drive no longer reads disks on the W520. It still works under Linux, so it's probably a driver issue. I checked the drivers on the Lenovo site and there is no DVD driver. The power player and opens but nothing is read off the drive. It does not appear in 'my computer '. Device Manager shows the drive with a caution triangle icon. Attempt to automatically update the pilot says that is already the newest one installed. Solutions Center Lenovo says that the driver is disabled. Deactivation and reactivation of the reader do nothing. How can I solve this problem?

Looking for more in the Device Manager, I found that there is a registry error (code 19). Follow this guide and it fixed it.

Try uplugging your magic Jack for a few seconds and install it back, it can set up an another hardware profile and take a next unassigned drive letter. Or change the drive letter of your DVD drive assignment:
Click Start-> right click 'Computer'-> manage-> click on 'Continue' on the prompt UAC-> in "Computer management" slot, click on "Disk management" "Storage". On the right pane, right click on your DVD drive and click on «Change drive letter and path...» "-> click on the button 'change... '. "under-> assign a new drive letter.

  • Drive DVD - RW does not properly on the Satellite A40-702

It's on my lap top of Toshiba Satellite SA-40-702. Five years ago.
Hi, I have looked at the wires for this problem and have not been able to identify a similar thread yet.

My dvd - rw play a purchased audio music cd and it will also work with disks that came with the laptop. S something works well... However, recently I tried to burn a piece of music (from i-tunes) and he showed in white, but strangeley the cd did play the piece of music OK in a machine at work. I tried now to show some other discs that I recorded on this laptop in January, and they now show that the discs and I cannot see their content (they were photos and text documents). They worked before.

I have this weekend made many attempts of 30 photos of burn, and I tried two different brands of dvd discs blank, but even if the laptop says 'burning to disc' etc when I try to view the burned disc, there is nothing on it!

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions please. I tried to clean the blue eye with a brush hairs inside the drawer of the dvd, that's why I expect that the next step may be just to buy a few more recent records?

    Hello

My personal opinion is; the reader cannot process the community burned due to the stressed out laser lens. It turns out that your laptop and the drive is older than 5 years.
I put t know how the drive has been used in recent years, but due to the long period of possible use of s that the lens cannot read data from the CD/DVD now.

This is not unusual. My brother s book can not read the CD/DVD that were burned a year ago, I presume that it of the same reason the s drive laser lens problem

Hmm you don t have many possibilities, you can try to burn these discs with another computer/laptop and then could check if you red the data.
The last option would replace the drive

  • S5-1060 casing dvd player does not recognize the Bluray disks after you restore windows 7

I have a s5-1060 casing with a HP DH12E3LH bluray player, recently the computer was so I took out the restore disks and just do a fresh install of windows 7, it works fine now, BUT the only thing I can't understand is why my bluray in unity player not to see, recognize or play blurays now.

The Device Manager shows the best drivers are already installed (21/06/2006 microsoft 6.1.7601.17514 driver), and he will play CD, DVD, just does not recognize a bluray disc.  I might say, we watched top of 25-30 movies on it so I 'hope' is not burned or something altogether.

It indicates that the device is working properly in Device Manager he calls it a cdrom drive (not sure if it matters), but with a bluray in the drive, it shows under properties / status / no media in the drive.

I'm not really sure where to start on this, drivers seem strange to be so old, is it a firmware I can update if so where can I get that info, I went to the hp site let it detect the computer saw the driver updated but nothing which was directly related to the cdrom drive.

Thanks for any help on this just stumped at this point, as it was working before the full restoration to the computer using the recovery disks, then there must be something simple.

  • DVD writer does not recognize 'NEW' blank DVD - r (Windows XP)

    Hello

I have a question that has been annoying me a lot during the last few weeks, as follows...

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 computer is running Windows XP service pack 3, it has a cd/DVD burner in this model (HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GWA4164B), I used to be able to burn CDs and DVDs fine, so please respond with lol 'maybe your drive doesn't burn DVDs' as you can see in the model # it's a DVD +-RW drive.

But my problem is the following... for some reason the DVD burner does not detect the 'NEW' blank DVD - R, there is no problem of detection of blank CD - R disc and I can burn fine on the CD - R. But for some reason it does not detect blank DVD?

When I put one in the drive, I don't get the popup asking what I want to do etc, or to go to WORKSTATION and look a the drive it shows no media present.

I have Nero Platinum 15 installed in my burning software, which has a function of DISK INFORMATION, which also shows that 'no disk in drive '.

    I have re installed Nero...

I uninstalled the drive and re installed

Re, I installed the latest drivers for Dell Optiplex

I bought a second axis of new blank DVDs

I took out what I left little hair!

Can someone provide me with a fix for this problem? ANY help is GREATLY appreciated guys!

  • Pavilion p6744y: HP Pavilion p6744y DVD-ROM does not not after installing Windows 10.

I have recently installed Windows 10 on my Pavilion p6744y. Since installation, the DVD-ROM does not work correctly. This worked perfectly before the upgrade of the OS and is the original drive installed by the manufacturer.

Spin discs and the light flashes, but there is no response from the computer. DVD - ROM does not appear in Device Manager and has been confirmed as "ENABLED" in the BIOS Setup screen. All wires and cables are attached and tight.

The HP Support Assistant is installed and confirms that all the drivers and software are up-to-date, like Windows Update.

Microsoft contacted for support and remote access to the PC. They have attempted to install an updated driver, but have been unable to find newer and easier to apply than the drivers already installed drivers. They were unable to solve the problem and advised me to contact HP. Contact HP is not useful because the PC is out of warranty and they expect me to pay for the support.

Help, please. I suspect all that I need is a updated driver to make the DVD - ROM communicable with 10 visible Windows.

I know a little about this stuff, but I'm certainly not a computer "guru". Please keep the simple resposnes with easy to understand by a layman terms.

    Thanks for your help!

    I FOUND A SOLUTION!

Research in the blogs of support paid off in a big way. A minor registry editing is all it took, and my player works like new!

Here is the solution. My system is Windows 64-bit 10.

Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note to use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help, check that you are an administrator, go tohttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important follow the steps described in this section carefully. Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you edit, back up the registry to restore in case of problems.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the run. (or right click on the windows down icon to the left)
Type regedit in the run box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow
In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
Right-click atapi, point to new, and then click key.
    Type Controller0 and press ENTER.
Right-click Controller0, point to new, and then click DWORD(32-bit) value.
    Type EnumDevice1 and press ENTER.
    Right-click EnumDevice1, click on change...
Type 1 in the value data box, and then click OK.
    Exit Registry Editor.

  • Error message: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged" and dvd burner does not

Original title: dvd burner does not work can not load the driver

I get this message "windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.

    Can someone help me?

    Hi Garry_x,

    1. were you able to use the DVD burner before with no problems?

    2. you remember to make changes to the computer recently?

This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure at the opening of the service registry entry, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service registry entry.

You can check out the following link and check for the resolution:

You can also read the following article and check if it helps:

  • Windows7-USB-DVD-tool does not have a Microsoft Windows XP/SP3 ISO

I am trying to create a bootable USB key to reinstall Windows XP with Service Pack 3 on my laptop Dell Latitude D820 that seems to have a CD player fault. I used a Microsoft technet subscription to download the ISO of Windows XP with SP3. I downloaded and installed Windows XP with SP3 Windows7-USB-DVD-tool but when I select the ISO file, Windows7-USB-DVD-tool tells me that this is not a valid ISO file. I'm guessing that Windows7-USB-DVD-tool is designed to install only the ISO files that have been purchased via the Microsoft Store, which is the case, I downloaded Windows7-USB-DVD-tool of.

I've tried other tools and programs to create a bootable USB key with the ISO image, but the USB resulting either don't start completely or the tool used a format boot of Linux which does not the Windows Installer to run.

    Hello

The tool seems to work only with some ISOs, so I suggest you try to download a Windows ISO from one different location other than TechNet.

    Hope this information helps.

  • CD/DVD-ROM problems, drive not detected AND the category of CD/DVD-ROM does not appear in Device Manager

I'm having serious problems here. My CD/DVD-ROM drive is not detected and will not answer. I can ONLY open the drawer at the beginning of my computer laptop startup. The drive does not appear in my computer and the category of CD/DVD-ROM does not appear in Device Manager. Therefore, the "uninstall/reinstall" is impossible if the computer behaves as it has never been this drive now or never. Previously, I was able to use it as there was no problem, but someday, it's simply not there.
