I have replace the battery and tried to turn it on again and I went through the same thing. The lights for the 'WiFi' would be on, key Caps Lock flashing and I hear the system starts for a few seconds and then off. I'm not sure what could cause this problem and I'd love to help, try to understand this.

  First thing you need to do is update to win 8.1 which should fix.  After update if you continue to plant run driver verifier

  I have a laptop computer X 230 and I run the Diagnostics and health care system and it seems that the HARD drive has no 2 test here: 'targeted reading test' and 'SMART short self-test.

  The same program said my warranty expires in 240 days, but I don't know that I bought the cheaper coverage option, so I don't know exactly, what is covered by the present.

  AFAIK all ThinkPads are covered by at least 1 year warranty. The HARD drive is covered by this warranty, so you should be able to get it replaced.

  I contact Lenovo support and provide them with the results of the health care system and Diagnostics. This should be sufficient to establish that the HARD drive has failed.

  I hope that you have already created a recovery media and/or have recent backups of the data on your HARD drive. Lenovo will send you a replacement HARD drive, but you will be responsible for the restoration of Windows and your data on it.

  Reformatting and reinstalling Windows because you meet one
  problem is almost always a very bad thing to do.

  Before perform us any of the steps, first of all I suggest you to create a backup of the data stored in your external hard drive on another computer.

  To save the data, you can connect your external hard drive on another computer and copy all the files and folders on the other computer. Later, you can connect the external drive to the Windows 7 computer and try to run the disk error checking and check if that helps you solve the problem.

  I was able to resolve myself.

  In the Panel, I chose printers > add printer. I selected the option without wireless/Bluetooth.

  I took care to wait for all of the printers that it detected were loaded. I found myself choosing the second listing of the printer that I want - with the IP showing.

  I clicked on install. I was asked to choose my manufacturer or say if I had a disc. I chose the installation of the drive.

  He urged them an 'install from' option to select a destination to install from. I sailed on my installation disc and the Autorun feature on the disc.

  He said 'installation' for a while. Then he gave me a print test option. I sent a print with a total success and can now access the printer from my computer.

  Has had a total of 5 minutes.

  My laptop hard drive crashed about 3 months ago.  I had my son reload my windows 7 Home premium, we used the key on the bottom of my computer code.  Everything works fine until today when I received a message that my windows was not valid.  I followed the steps and returned my key code and it was not recognized by microsoft.  Before the accident, I was using this windows with the code key for more than one year.   I have a toshiba laptop and I don't have the operating system installed on any other computer.
