Hi Trynn23,
· This only happens with the games disc?
· This happens with any particular game disc or all the discs?
· You did changes to the computer before this problem started?
· You receive an error message when you access the drive?
However, you can use the convenience store open playing and burning CDs, DVDs and Blu - ray discs built in Windows 7 and check to see if this can help you trouble reading disc number.

Solutions to the problem of CD/DVD drive cannot read DVD discs
This article will tell you 3 ways to solve the problem of the CD/DVD drive do not read the DVD disc. Please the process step by step.
Solution1. Clean the DVD disc
If your Player cannot detect the DVD disc, the first thing you need to do is to clean the DVD disc. Use a soft and dry cloth (not painted) to wipe the disc from the center of the disc to the edge. Please take care to not to use a paper to clean the disc with a circular motion, it will scratch the disc.
After cleaning, inert the DVD on the drive to see if it works, if the reader can't read the disc, use a cloth of cotton wet with water or alcohol to clean the disc. After the disc dry, inert re the disc on the drive. If the reader can read, the operation is complete. If this isn't the case, please turn to the option2.
Option2. Check the disc to see if it has been damaged
Draw the DVD from the drive and check if there are some scratches or small cracks on the disc. If the disc is damaged, please try another DVD disc to see if the drive can read. If the drive cannot recognize the new disk, there could be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. Please turn to solution 3.
Solution3. Clean or repair the CD/DVD drive
When a CD/DVD drive has been used for a long time, its ability to play disc will only get worse. Then, the reader can not read some discs, or blocking your computer in the middle of the reading disc. This is usually due to the aging of certain parts of the disc, CD/DVD player dirty.
Open the drive to check if the DVD reader accumulates dust and dirt, if so, the cold air from the hair dryer allows you to clean the inside of the DVD drive. Be sure to not blow on the optical sensor orally, or clean it with a cloth of cotton with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert a DVD disc on the drive to see if it works. If still no, you need to call the s command customer service or take the reader to a computer repair shop.

I did the diagnostic tests, and the drive seems to work fine. I think I just need to clean the lens, as I've never cleaned. I need to know what kind of cleaning kit or drive to buy. I bought a cheap vacuum disc at Wal-Mart (Memorex) but it does not work in the PC disc drive - it has no brushes. A Utube video uses a 2-brush Phillips drive, but I want to confirm before buying another. Perhaps that the system 2-brush of cd/dvd lens cleaner SVC2330/27 Phillips? T61 DVD drive cannot read some discs
I try to install H & R Block tax software, but the disk is not readable. I ordered a replacement from the seller (Amazon) drive and still have the problem. On the other hand, some discs work, for example, the H & R Block software 2 years ago.
Tips on troubleshooting DVD player or replacement?
These drives are 'plug and play', you don't even need a screwdriver. Unlock (the latch is in the drive, well visible, on the side RIGHT of your ThinkPad) pull chase him, insert the replacement, push the latch back in. Fact.
Post a WTB (want to buy) announce here and someone will come to your rescue:

My hard drive is not even read the disc (Dragon Age: Origins)
Today I bought a new video game for PC (Dragon Age: Origins).
After inserting the disc, I thought I could hear the drive reading the disc, but it kept stopping. This ended up in my computer not give me an error message saying that there is problem... it's almost as if he thinks that I have never inserted the disc.
So I tried to run another game disc, and he managed to read the disc.
Please help :(
the required for the game is the following:
OS: Windows XP (SP3) or Windows nice (SP1) or Windows 7
Processor: Processor Intel Core 2 SINGLE 1.6 GHz or equivalent AMD Athlon 64 2/0 GHz processor or equivalent
RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Disc drive: DVD ROM required
Hard drive: 20 GB of disk spaceand I guess that video and sound are not the problem here.
I'm not a 'computer' wiz or anything either, but after reading the label of my system, it seems that the requirements very well.
they are here:OS: Windows Vista 64 - bit family Premium SP1
Processor: Intel Core 2 Q6600 Quad-Core
RAM: 4 GB DDR2
Disk drive: Super multiformat DVD + RW DL with Labelflash
HDD: 750 GB... As you can see, taking me the time to post all this place really shows how frustrated I am... so please Helo me ASAP :(
It is possible that you have a bad DVD drive. Try it in another computer (a friend or relative) and if it didn't work for them either, you may have to contact the company for a replacement drive. If it works on their computer and not yours, you may need an update of the firmware of your DVD player to make it compatible with the disc. It is a rare event, but can happen. You will need to go to the website where you made your computer and download the update of the firmware if available.

My DVD drive does not recognize DVD game discs.
My NEC ND-4550-reader DVD - RW does not recognize DVD game discs.
He has no problem reading movie DVDs and music CDs or access data CD and DVD burnt with data on them.
I removed and let XP Reinstall the device and high-low filters removed the registry etc nothing works.
I made a copy of a DVD game on another PC and it is recognized and install my PC.
All DVD discs work very well on the other PC.
I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2.
MS Fixit controls indicate no problems.
This would be a matter of software protection?
All tried game DVDs are official records and not copies.
The NEC ND-4550 uses cdrom.sys as pilot. Finally, I replaced the drive for a new one (Pioneer DVR-S18L) and everything now works as it should.
So I suspect that it's a hardware problem and not one that can be resolved by any of the Windows settings. -
My hard drive has trouble reading some discs
Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite C655 6.1 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I had problems with my disc drive will not read some game discs. Most of the games that no longer work, allowing to work perfectly. Now when I put in the drive, the drive makes weird noises as it tries to read the disc, but he can't. Some of the games will install very well, but then not play.
Music and film discs usually work very well, however. It's just my computer games which have this problem and not even all of them. I had some extremely scratched work very well when a new brand will not.
If anyone has an idea as to what is the problem please help.
Thank you!
Hi Sasha,
Thank you for the update.
This problem can be caused by two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries, follow these steps:
- Press the logo Windows + R to open the run dialog box.
- Type regedit in the run dialog box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow
- In the navigation pane, find and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters . If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 7.
- On the Edit menu, click delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, continue to the next resolution.
- On the Edit menu, click delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- Exit Registry Editor.
- Restart the computer.

Satellite P855: CD/DVD drive does not read 3 "Disc Camcorder
I have a new Toshiba Satellite P855 model but can not get the CD drive integrated read/recognize 3 "discs of my Sony's Handycam camcorder.
My previous laptop Aspire straight bed (as did older laptops) and currently have to use the Acer to import video footage on a hard drive.
If I connect directly the Sony camcorder to laptop Toshiba (via USB) it won't always recognize the drive if I put it back in there.
The Toshiba uses the W8 while software on Acer and other models previous I was using Windows7, but I do not see how it would make a difference.
Can someone tell me if it is possible to get my Toshiba to read the discs of my camcorder?
My apologies if this topic has been previously covered - this is my 1st post on this Forum in question and I did a search on the topic before making this post, but nothing came.

Original title: cd driver problem

Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
