  Double-sided printing works very well with the driver available in Windows Update.  The page here indicates that some functions are not available, it is regarding the MFP devices that are not compatible with Win 7.

  There's no drivers 64-bit of Windows XP and I think it won't be available on the Toshiba driver page. Why?
  There are a few reasons for this.

  First of all the Vista is the disciple of Win XP and only Vista 64-bit drivers are designed for new laptops and computer equipment.

  Second, really unique operating system Win XP 64-bit. It was not so popular like Win XP 32 bit and most of the applications and software are not compatible with the XP 64 bit OS.

  I put t know many people who would like to use the 64-bit XP and maybe this is the main reason why 64-bit XP drivers are rare.

  I think that if you want to use this OS on this laptop, then you have to collect drivers 64-bit XP to your own hand.

  You need a Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit system disk. I doubt that Microsoft Win 7 32 bit disk also contains the 64-bit version.

  The Satellite A500 PSAR9A is the same series of portable as PSAR9E.

There is a very good news for everyone who is still working on it and try to make it work. "I managed to install Windows XP Professional 32-bit/64-bit on the system including the drivers Intel AHCI/RAID 'modded' ' in the installation CD, I downloaded from win-raid.com/t11f23-Modded-Intel-AHCI-and-RAID-Drivers.html they work very well for Intel 8 and the previous series. But you must include the version of the specific drivers (32 bit / 64 bit) in TXT Mode using nLite (tutorial). And remember NOT to hit F6 in the beginning of the installation or the drivers will not load. And even if Windows XP was not only supports the boot from VHDs, I managed to install it on a virtual hard drive and it starts in native mode on the system, using this tutorial. And I even found the official driver for Intel 4th gen HD Graphics on Windows XP, but it did not work for me.   The video controller in your model is not entirely Vista or W7 capable.

  Here is a driver that will allow you to change the resolution of the screen and have the graphics acceleration, but you don't have Windows Aero (one of the reasons that the gpu is not quite capable of running W7).

  Download and run this graphics driver.  You will probably get an error of unsupported operating system.

  There is unfortunately no drivers for Windows 7 32 bit so I think that the Satellite U500 doesn t support this operating system.

  Why you have installed another OS without checking the availability of driver?
  AFAIK U500 is pre-installed with Windows 7 64 bit then why you changed obsolete 32-bit version that supports a maximum of 3 GB of RAM?

  In any case, I think you need to get yourself to drivers so check other sites such as Intel, Realtek, etc. directly to get 32-bit drivers.
  Alternative, you can search the Web from Toshiba site for other models of laptops they support 32-bit and have similar hardware as U500.

  You need not install W7.

  If you want to update the BIOS (which I don't recommend unless your laptop is having issues addressed by the BIOS update), and then update the BIOS by using the file on your laptop support page by using the operating system supported.

  It goes the same for firmware.  Firmware and BIOS updates are hardware specific and are not pilots (they are the binary code that can be compared to the brain and nervous system of the unit).  If a problem occurs during the update, or you apply them to the wrong material, you can start your laptop in the trash.

  As much as I know Win server 2008 is not supported by Toshiba, so you will not be able to find the drivers for it. Toshiba offers support for OS preinstalled only and possibly an upgrade if your laptop model is supported for the new OS.
  Warranty has nothing to with Win server 2008 so I think that guys will not be helpful for you. What they can do is to check if the original recovery image can be installed or not. If this is not the case, there may be a hardware problem.
