  If your camera comes with an installation CD, you must load this first and only connect your camera when asked to do so by the installation process. This will ensure that when your camera is connected the correct driver will be associated with it.

  Hi Paul-C! I understand that you want to use the DSC-W710 camera as a webcam. Unfortunately, this camera model has not a USB streaming feature. Once the device is connected to a computer via USB, it goes into data transfer mode and will not be able to save pictures or videos.

  It may be possible to view a "live view" of what the camera is the view using audio/video connection. However, the computer may need to other components of an audio/video input, video capture card and software for recording. This may be an alternative, but still not guaranteed.

  Is it possible to change the name of files image of DSC to something else? I work with a pair of Sony, an a6000 and a NEX-6. When their number sequence matching, it's a pain to edit photos. With my Nikon DSLR, I am able to change the name. This prevents images from 2 different cameras, and if there is a camera problem, I immediately know that the camera has the problem.

  DSC is synonymous with digital camera, which is the default file for the cameras as prefix suggests Caméra & Imaging Products Association. Some companies use a Variant, as DSCN of Nikon and FSCD of FujiFilm. And as you have already discovered, some allow you to change the prefix of the default file to something else. Unfortunately, Sony is not

  HI, you have limited play with the speed as you move the camera a little to get used to the speed. I know it sounds strange, but it takes a little getting used to for you to know how fast to move it to. If you move too slow or too fast, you will not receive either the scene or the camera will tell you to slow down. If you can't move the camera through any matter within the time limit, a grey zone occurs in the composite image. In this case, go faster the camera to record a complete panoramic image.

  To take the panorama photo, you can press the button all the way down and release, then move the camera in the direction of the arrow. The camera records for about 7 seconds.

  Hello. Macro mode on the camera is automatic, so there is no particular setting to select. At the larger end, the camera will focus about 2 inches to infinity then until the end of the TV about 5 inches to infinity. This information is taken from the manual in full page 105. Hope that helps.

  I have a similar problem to ngoc - maybe someone can direct me to a download driver "FREE"? I have a Cybershot DSC - S30. I have a new laptop with the Vista operating system and now it no longer works. I did some research on google for the updated drivers, but it brings me to other sites were you get supposed to be charged for new drivers. After paying 2 times $ 50 I thought only to try the Sony messages. Surely customers should not have to continue paying 3 parties for drivers who do nothing.

  Any ideas?

  Due to the age of the unit, there were no updates for the drivers. You may be able to get help from a specific forum of the camera driver.

  When you use a Mac OS computer, you will need to download the software of automatically importing wireless to allow the camera send wireless files. You can download the program here.

  After downloading the software, please follow the steps below on how to configure the wireless connection.

  • Initial setup process:
  
  
  • 1. Make sure you that using a memory card is inserted in the device.
    
    
    2. Turn the camera
    
    
    3. On the camera, set the mode of USB connection from the camera to the MTP or PTP.
    
    
    4. Connect the camera to the USB port on the computer.
    
    
    5. On your computer, go to Finder and select Applications.
    
    
    6. Select automatically importing wireless.
    
    
    7. Set up your computer as a device to import files from your camera wireless.

       NOTE: If the device should be synchronized with another computer, the new computer must be defined as import wireless device.

    
    
    8. In the auto import wireless window, select set.
    
    
    9. In this computer will be set to the wireless device for your window of the camera import, click OK.
