I never liked this HP laptop - but to have a drive only hard failure after 1.5 years is ridiculous. I regularly perform system checks/run antivirus etc software
Can someone tell me if this is indeed a hard drive failure? Much else is problematic too - especially the speed. I have already restored the computer laptop back to factory settings to sort the other probs - a lot of your time. If I restore settings still is likely to address the problem of restarting? I had a lot of trouble from my computer. Whenever I turn it on, I get an error of Windows with 2 options recovery: launch the repair (recommended), which only leads to a silver background with nothing more than a mobile cursor, and to start as normal Windows, which leads to the logo screen, then the computer automatically restarts.

It is a failure of hard drive & not because you it completely filled with data, it is because your unlucky this hard drive ceases to function properly.
You try to save if not already done on an external hard drive if you can get into safe mode or troubleshoot page by pressing F8 or F11.
If you are under warranty, HP will replace it for you for free.

Yes, replace the hard drive should solve the problem completely.
You can read the product key on the bottom of your laptop?
If this isn't the case, you will need to either buy a new full version of Windows 7 or to see if you can order a set of recovery disks by reading the info on the link below.

You can change the country to the other by clicking on the United Kingdom and a drop-down list appears.
You should not need the product key with the recovery discs.
If you can read the product key on the bottom of your laptop, you can make your own windows 7 installation disc.
If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.
Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.
The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Conf system: Windows 10, 64-bitYes you absolutely need a new hard drive. Yes, you can take the old disk, put in a usb adapter and use it outside. Maybe you can retrieve data from it, and probably you can recover some data maybe not all. It depends on how the disk is damaged. Stop trying to use it, it will be only make it worse trying to boot from it.

See p. 63 for hard drive replacement. It is not really easy to do what you have to remove the top cover.
You have a 1 to 5400 RPM SATA 2.5 inch hard drive. It would be a good opportunity to upgrade to an SSD. Tell us where you live (country) (the India?) and we can direct you to a place to buy the disc (and a usb adapter). Computer parts cost a little more in India, but if you can do it yourself it will cost maybe the equivalent of $ 75 for the reader. I don't know which would require a technician in India. In the United States, you might expect for maybe $100 in labor costs.

I'm sorry to say this, but the 24-character error codes indicates a drive failure, which means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.
You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself – please let me know.

Well, if this is the case, it must be too late to consider waiting. A new hard drive seems to be in order. Given that the post says Windows 10, which is the updated "free"? If this is the case, then order a 1 TB hard drive to replace the failed unit. On the restoration of the OS, I have to assume certain things
(1) you do not have the recovery put DVD to reinstall Windows 8, as it was
(2) you do not really want to reinstall Windows 8, on the new hard drive
(3) If you have access to a working computer and can make windows 10 media creation dvd site M$, you might be able to reinstall Windows 10 using this. Of course, any other software that has been installed on the old drive before it failed will be lost, unless you have the information you need to reinstall that, too.
Considering that the computer does not start, I have to assume the worst condition for the reader. It is perhaps not completely watered and important data cannot be retrieved, but don't count on it.
Let me know how things go once the drive is replaced.

There is nothing you can really do to repair the HARD drive - the drive must be replaced.
However, you may well be able to access and back up your existing data by removing the HARD to place in an external enclosure - drive is an example on the link below - and this connection to another PC and see if you can access your files.

I was using my computer today when he says an error has occurred and has said it will restart to solve the problem, but when he did he didn't want the computer load. I understand that you were using your computer when you have received a message that he would restart to solve a problem.
