Dual-boot 7 and 8. 2 7 full and 1 8 upg Req'd?

I'm planning a new system with windows 7 and windows 8 pro dual-boot. my knowledge, that's why (2) windows 7 ultimate full backups and one upgrade of windows 8 Pro. so, is it Ireally 2 windows 7 or is it legal for me to use 1 windows 7 of Duel-initialize the two?
Thank you.

When you upgrade, you use the Windows 7 license as the basis for the upgrade, so it cannot be used again as long as you use Windows 8.

You will need another license of Windows 7 for a dual boot.

  • How do I set up a dual boot Vista and XP with 2 hard drives?

Dual boot Vista and XP with 2 hard drives

I tried to get my computer has a separate hard drive put in place that lets me run Windows XP or Windows Vista. I tried the path of the CMD, but I could do things wrong with that because the news NTLDR appeared much too different info from Vista. Currently, I have deleted this change to the startup configuration. I want to know what I have to do to get these two to be able to boot. I noticed problems similar to mine, but the answer always seems to be a software that would cost me money.

    Thank you

    Tevans95

    Hello Tevans95,

You cannot install two different operating systems on two different disks. For a dual-boot environment, you must install both XP and Vista on the same drive with different partitions.

In addition, you must install Windows XP first and then Windows Vista.

You can check the items below which will give you information on Dual boot.

    Install multiple operating systems (multiboot)

    Set up a dual-boot system

Change the default operating system for startup (multiboot)

There is no software that can help you to install XP and Vista on different drives.

  • Dual boot XP and Vista

I have vista sp2, I have an update of XP, I also have Win 98, then I install XP and still have Vista? If I can't, I could just wipe the drive and just install XP, I try to get the old game ' keeper dungoen 1' work and I'm having NO luck with vista, as I lost my cd of vista!

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

You can not do a clean install of XP with a XP upgrade disk; you need a version of XP FULL.

  • Dual boot XP and W8

    Hello

I'm going to buy a new computer my old father for the holiday and I have to admit that it is not tech savvy.  I want to save me tons of phone calls and headaches.  My dad's current computer is running XP and it can get around it well enough.  The new computer would have to W8.  I have a dual boot on my own (reasons of game) and I double boot with W7 Pro and XP and I have 2 HD (have W7 on 1 and XP on the other).  My daughter has W8 on his laptop and I frackly don't like the way it installs things on it.  Sometimes it is on the desktop, and sometimes, he's somewhere else where I struck an icon can pull a page to the top of the bottom and look for to start the program.  Anyway, probably wrong but I don't like how works W8.

I was wondering if there is a way I can take her out of his current Office XP disk and put it in the new computer and change W8 for dual boot instead of a brand new install?  I looked online, but can only find new install on a partition and not on two discs.

Windows XP is so old its very unlikely to run on a modern computer, not to mention, its not supported any longer. There is no update available for her.

    If you use Windows XP.

A week to teach him the basics of using a virtual computer as Oracle VirtualBox and load Windows XP it for their daily needs. It can run in mode full screen without interaction with Windows 8.1

Ensure that any new computer you buy has preinstalled Windows 8.1.

  • Dual-boot Windows and Linux, but Linux has calendar, TB 31.0

I'm using Linux Mint and Windows 7 dual-boot. I have TB 31.0 installed on each operating system. TB Linux has a capacity of calendar; in Windows, there is nothing (by nothing, I mean no calendars - I can't see their properties, for example, access somehow).

I should add that Windows and Linux TB programs share the same profile folder (located on a separate partition), therefore, all of the same modules, passwords, etc.

The error console records the following:

    Timestamp: 14/08/2014-18:41:33
    Error: Components.classes['@ [cid] is undefined
    Source file: resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm-> file:///P:/PortableApps/ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calUtils.js
    Online: 17

There are a variety of flow on the errors related to this.

My apologies for posting this in this way; I intend to submit this via the crashreporter, but I can't get the program crash with this error earlier.

An answer to my own question: it turns out that, while sharing a profile works quite well for most of the cases, with lightning, he does not, like the extension has different versions of Linux and Windows. The problem is solved very simply: by not using is not the same profile for each version.

Glad to see that no one takes on this one (except me, of course).

  • Re: Problem of dual boot Win7 and WXP

I read the complete step by step how to Setup dual boot windows 7 and xp. I have all my partitions has prepared in advance and them labeled accordingly so there is no confusion.

I installed windows 7 on my new SATA drive. Everything went OK, except that I've never had a start this menu - at 7, it's like Windows XP Home edition was not there.
I downloaded and installed and ran, easybcd and tried to add the menu WXP manually entry. He asks the drive and the drive with xp on it is now Windows 7, drive D (when E is I boot xp).

All the necessary files (ntldr, boot.ini, ntdetect.com) are all on this disc. But when I try that menu entry, every computer is restart. It will start again than windows 7, unless I go into the BIOS settings and change the HDD boot order (in this list, if I do that with nr of partition Win7 1, I can boot windows 7 and only this, if I do that with nr of partition XP 1, I get my old regular boot.ini boot menu (what makes me also in my ubuntu wubi installation).)

I would like to be able to boot in Windows XP Home edition from the Windows 7 start menu, or, Alternatively, to want to boot Windows 7 Startup menu Windows XP Home (what would be even better).

    Are there directions for me?

    Thanks in advance.

I have more Satellite A300 with two hard drives and I've install WXP and Win7.
What you need is the Boot Manager. When you start your laptop, you can choose which OS should start, and one of them can be set as default OS so if you n t choose anything after 30 seconds, one of them will start automatically.

    I'm using Win7 OS default.
    > I would like to be able to boot in Windows XP Home edition from the Windows 7 start menu, or, Alternatively, would like > to start Windows 7 from the start menu of Windows XP Home (what would be even better).
I put t know if something like this is possible. If you want to change your OS, you must restart your laptop and start the second OS.

  • Tecra A10 - dual boot XP and Windows 7

Can I set up my Tecra A10 Windows 7 from dual boot with XP?

I created a partition on the HARD drive. When I try to start my load of CIP 2 ser XP I can almost the first Setup screen then bomb out with a message saying to continue would be detrimental to my installation of Windows 7.

    Any ideas. Bobg

    Hello

Of course, you can do a system dual boot with both operating systems. But before you change anything on the HARD drive partitions you create the Toshiba Recovery disk if you didn t it yet. With this record, you can restore the factory settings every time.

Generally if you have installed Windows 7 first of all you need to create a new partition for Windows XP. You can install XP on this partition and you need to change the boot sector using EasyBCD or another tool.

In your case, I would ask Google you'll find hundreds of tutorials how to make a system dual-boot. ;)

  • Dual boot Linux and XP on Lenovo 3000 J205

I have a 3000 j205 (I think. It says on the tag 9686-A12) and one of my friends set up to dual boot with XP that cannot access internet and Susa, which works well. I called customer service and was told that since my mother bought the machine (she died a year from Cancer) that they could only talk to him. It is a Vista box that has never worked directly for her (she dropped out after 3 months of trying to make it work, technical support to come and even my brother and children trying to run more than 20 minutes on the net) I realized that running the network card drivers for XP are missing. He sees even the router wireless in the line and the Comcast cable modem, but he always swears that the internet isn't here. Any ideas? The Vista of origin had the same problem trying to access the net.

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-69024

If the machine came originally with Vista, then there probably the Marvell ethernet driver.

Scroll to network and you'll see the listed Marvell ethernet driver.

    See if it works.

  • dual boot 7 and 10 - what my software?

Once I put in place a system to dual-boot Windows 7 (current) and 10 will be all my software (everything is compatible) be automatically available to 10 Windows? If this is not the case, what should I do?

I intend to leave Windows 7 on my C drive and have already set up a petition on my drive D for Windows 10 - this creates a problem for Windows 10 find my software?

There are a few things to note here:

    • The free update will modernize your existing installation only. You cannot launch the free update on your installation of Windows 7 and say to install on the new partition you created. To do this, you will need to purchase a license Windows 10 and install own to that partition. Just so you know.
    • If you decide to go out and buy Windows 10 dual-boot both systems, then you will be able to install the separate disk. It does detect your Windows 7 programs.
    • If you want to check if your Windows 7 programs will be compatible, run the Windows get app and check the compatibility of that report. You need to install manually on Windows 10.

    Hope this has helped

  • Trying to dual boot xp and win 8. The two are already installed, but only win 8 boot option is available.

I have xp and win 8 dev already installed. I want to dual boot, but 8 victory is the only option I get.  I guess I should have installed from xp with an ISO... reading program or something. Is it possible to get two startup options appear now? without uninstalling or OS?

Download EasyBCD, scroll to the bottom to get the free version here http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

Go to add a new entry and in the upper pane, select the Type of Win NT/XP combo. Give it a descriptive name and that it points to the appropriate drive, and then click Add an entry. Now, you have a choice of systems when you turn on.

  • Dual boot XP and Windows 7

Hi all.  I'm trying to install win7 on a XP machine for a dual-boot.  Advisor says upgrade I'm good to go.  I have an E-Machine with a single processor core AMD with 2 GB of memory.  New active partition is 60 GB.  About 30% of the file extension that the screen turns into multicoloured blocks & installation breaks down.  Tried to copy the cd to a flash drive in case the disc was bad.  Arrived at about 40%, but the result was the same.  Custom installation uses to keep active XP on HD.  Any suggestions?  TYVM.  Brad

    Hello

Do not always rely on the Upgrade Advisor.

'the screen turns to the multi-colored blocks. '

Which seems to graphics card hardware/drivers problem

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

  • Set up the Dual Boot Xp32 and Xp64

I want to set up a dual-boot for my business environment, mainly because some of my hardware will not work with the 64-bit operating system. I currently have 64-bit installed, but cannot get the 32 bit version to install, once started, it won't read the disc (I put the CD-ROM as first boot device) should I wipe it and install first 32?  Thank you

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I have the same question 2 days ago on an old house built X Gamer computer.

It turns out that the SATA DVD drive necessary data cable be moved to a JMicron (completely illogical) SATA port controlled instead of the Intel ICH10R SATA ports.

What you can also try is pressed the space bar twice a second after you put first on the PC with 64-Bit CD already in the CD/DVD drive.

  • dual-boot apps and saving disk space

I remember there was a trick to save disk space during dual-boot installation of applications on the same location on both operating systems, although it did not always work due to its location different %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto in Windows 9 X and XP. Was this something more to the other case pointing to the directory \program files on the C drive instead of the D drive? It's been a while since I used it and I think that I forgot something important. As the problem of recycling bin.

In addition, at - it someone remind if one of the following conditions has had problems using the trick?

    Applications:
Open Office 2.42 (latest version 98, I could just installing OO3 place)
Office 97 (might install Office 2003 instead, I like it better and it can read the docx)
    WinRAR
Printing 5.0 (version of Windows 95, will not install on Vista on my other machine, but works under virtualPC)

    Games:
all games of the Infinity Engine (Baldur's Gate series) and Icewind Dale series
    Final Fantasy VII (FF7)
    Final Fantasy VIII (FF8)
Pool of Radiance: ruins of Myth Dranor (reflection, with the issues surrounding this match, I don't try, I'll just boot 98)
