If you change something, it may invalidate your warranty. If you need to return your laptop to HP, they will just wipe the drive and start over, no questions asked.

You must remove the HP tools or the recovery partition. I think that removing the partition on an HP tools automatically goes to sleep you out of the recovery partition.

If you delete the recovery partition, you must make sure that you have done the set HP recovery disk and it is on quality discs and safely set aside.

If you are planning on dual booting with different versions of Windows, make sure that Windows utility block each other. For example, don't let Windows defrag loose on the other OS partition.

No, you can not install after Windows 8 in a dual-boot configuration. He recommends first you have Windows 7 installed, and then create a partition and install Windows 8. See the following topics:

You can't dual boot with the Windows Pro 8 upgrade, you must install it on a computer running an earlier version of Windows.

If you want to dual boot, you will need to buy Windows 8 Pro OEM personal use license. It is a full version license that will allow you to dual boot.

  • If I buy a version full of professional win7 and install on a different hard drive, can I put current version win8 and duel boot?

Currently, using a full version of win7 home premium 64 on a computer, I built. I would like to win8 for some things, but continue with win7 for most legacy applications mmy.

    Yes you can.

But first, install Windows 7 Professional, like any new installation, on a different hard disk / partition.

At this point, you should be able to dual boot Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional.

Now download and run Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard, to check the compatibility of the drivers and software that you use, of course hardware will support Windows 8 running Windows 7.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/upgrade-to-Windows-8

Download all the necessary drivers in need of update during the installation of Windows 8.

Then, perform the upgradation with Windows 7 Professional. Windows 8 Pro is currently available only for improvement.

Now, install the drivers certified for Windows 8.

Note: If you are upgrading the current Windows 7 Home Edition Premium of Windows 8 Pro, do not install Windows 7 Professional later, as Windows 8 Pro does not start correctly.

  • Duel to start a G20

    Hello

I have a little problem and I was wondering if someone could help. I have a g-20 and will have to Duel Boot of the machine. Only problem it is a Serial ATA HARD drive in. When you run the XP installation, it is said that no HARD disks are dectected. As there is no floppy drive and not back of drivers for the hard disk, I'm out of ideas.

Can anyone sugest anything I could try?

    Hello

It seems that you need a RAID driver.
The Toshiba RAID driver must be added during the installation, when prompt to 'press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.
To do this, download the Toshiba RAID driver from the Toshiba web page driver download and extract the zip to a disk file. Connect the floppy drive to your computer before starting the installation.

The Setup program continues until you are asked if you want to "S = specify additional device. Press' and specify the driver Toshiba Raid for XP or 2000 as required.
Press 'Enter' to continue the installation.

When you use Windows Setup to partition or format the HARD drive, the RAID driver is deleted in the process. To avoid this, do all the partitioning and formatting before you run the manual installation of Windows.

    Good luck

  • Disk partition makes it active so that I can boot from to load a different version of the OS

Hello: first time using this forum. Here's my problem. I have a custom-made computer who use to allow me to duel boot into the operating system of my choice. I have recently had problems at the start where the start cycle automatically sends me to my windows 7 OS. He used to give me a choice, but is no longer made.  I've entered my Bios and set the boot drive to correct an and are even went to management in respect of the management and the computer discs has tried to set the active boot disk partition but it will not even give me a choice on which OS start at startup. It just keeps going to Windows 7. Here's a grab of the scree of my disk management.

I know that that said 'no-limit' but this is my other OS. I need to somehow make it active so when starting it will give me the return option on which operating system to start.  Can someone help me on this?

Free mini tool allows you to configure the space / partition active fairly easy

The partition should probably show with Fat32.

  • Dual boot 32 and 64 bit

In order to emulate a real environment with Windows XP 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit running on 2 partitions of that same box I created a new VM with IDE 2 hard drives.

Based on my experience with physical boxes, Windows XP must be installed before Windows 7.

    However:

    • If I say that the guest operating system is Windows XP 32-bit, I can install Windows XP and later Windows 7, but Windows 7 does not recognize the network interface. Install VMware tools and edit comments settings do not solve the problem.
    • If I create a new virtual machine and I say that the guest operating system is Windows 7 64 bit, I can install Windows XP 32-bit, but it does not recognize the interface network and other devices.

    On the other hand

    • If I create a virtual machine, set the operating system and windows XP and install Windows XP everything works fine without having to install VMware Tools.
    • If I create an another VM, define the operating system like Windows 7 64 bit and install Windows 7 64 bit, everything works fine as well without VMware Tools...

The only test I did not not played is defining the operating system as 'Other', but I do not think that this will solve my problem...

Anybodu you suggest a way to solve my problem?

    Concerning

    Marius

When you select Windows 7, the next parameter is defined in the configuration for the network card .vmx file.

    ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"

It is not used by default in Windows XP, and you must provide the driver yourself if you want to use Windows XP.  The driver is included as part of the Windows 7 installation DVD.

What I would have done it, it's a Windows 7 VM pointing to the existing Windows XP drive to create and use two separate configuration files to Duel-boot build.

It is proof that it is not specific to a special section! You tested it on two different platforms, and it didn't work twice!

I think your problem is a PCMCIA Sound card driver problem!
Have you looked at the seller HP for a updated driver version?
Then, you must contact echoaudio support and ask for problems with laptops and if there is a solution available!

  • Satellite Pro L300 - what I can reinstall Vista with the recovery disk?

    Hey

I dual-boot (running Windows Vista & Win7) and if I delete Windows Vista can I reinstall Windows Vista with my recovery CD?
And I have another drive on my computer for recovery Partition so I can use my recovery CD to reinstall Windows vista if I want once I got rid of him and would it erase my win7 disk or remove the duel boot?

    My specs are:
    Intel Pentium
    2 GB OF RAM
    Hard drive 160 GB

    > if I delete Windows Vista can I reinstall Windows Vista with my recovery CD?
You can use the recovery disk to reinstall Vista on your laptop but as Luke mentioned, the recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive. It would erase all partitions on the HARD drive and you will lose also the installed Win 7!

  • During the installation of Windows 7 or 8.1 using a USB stick - get the message "cannot be installed, it is a GPT.

    Hello

During the installation of Windows 7 or 8.1 using a USB stick - get the message "cannot be installed, it is a GPT partition.

I have 64 bit install discs for Win 7 and Win 8.1. These two install on my desktop in duel boot. I made a Flash DRIVE of each disk so I can install it more quickly.

Problem: I get the cannot install because it is a GPT partition.

Y at - there no way to make these 2 USB sticks work?

    Thank you, Brad

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

Your computer does not have Microsoft's Downgrade rights and you must buy a copy of Windows 7 with a valid Microsoft COA and product key.

The screenshots below is from a laptop HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install Windows 7 from a USB and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '.

In addition, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
