Dumping Vista to XP in Pavilion s3600v (office slim) - how to install

Technical support HP told me after 2.5 hours there is an incompatibility between my PRTR laser (HP 1300 & 1150) and the printer drivers for Vista.  Since I also spent the $170 for the extended support tech kit, I was annoyed.  Looks like the only way I can save what I want to do is dump Vista and install XP on the new Pavilion s3600v.

Need: install a printer parallel port card in the Office to continue to use of old old office program accounting requiring ms - dos to print; Therefore, parallel printer and XP need (or more) operating system. Use Acronis software for cloning vista.  Determine how

1. remove Vista;

2 find out if the hardware will work with XP and where to get xp software drivers necessary;

3. the Protocol or the order of the xp on the office installation process.

4 xp would describe the warranty by HP of the Office.

5 advice re re-installation of vista if you wish at a later date.

It sounds like more work that I want to take, but I think I can do it.  Key question is if all the components of the s3600v will work ok with XP and drivers available... and if the guarantee is irreversibly affected?

I am a user with intermediate knowledge/experience - although I've used computers since Apple built them!   But that the experience of old time isn't going to help a lot with this Vista OS. Thanks for the help!

How do we install the memory in laptops 17z - F series (17z-F200, product L2H13AV) Pavilion?

HP seems to have no guide available for this series of model maintenance. What is happening with this?

Please, do not offer the generic (and obsolete) Pavilion 17 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. It seems not to apply to 17z - F series. This guide indicates to remove the low service panel which I could have understood that mine. However, 17z - F series does not appear to have removable panels at all. I took a shot near the Pavilion 17z-F100. And it is not any removable panels on the underside, with the exception of the battery. So, I guess that 17z-F200 are the same.

I am a computer technician. And this is the first laptop I've seen without signs of service. I'll probably have to remove the outer shell together to install the memory (or replace the hard drive when the time comes). But, any laptop I've worked on in the past had its own special table hidden screws or special tricks for disassembly. So having an interview guide is a necessity to prevent the pests from plastic, clips, guides, mounts etc..

    What about this one:

Don't get started me on that. It is one of my hobbies, too. HP is not the only one to do that. Acer and Toshiba, etc. also sell 'closed' systems now. I hate it. I need help, find how to install Windows Vista on a HP Pavilion 6475z disk.   I had to replace the hard drive, so he has nothing about it and I added more ram, but I replace the cd player so it is not yet installed on the HP.   So I was wondering if I could put the installation disc in my laptop cd/dvd and connect computers by usb ports and install it this way and if not how can I?

    Thank you

    Hello

    You are welcome

If the CD/DVD drive in the works of PC Gateway, you can (at least temporarily) remove it and install it in the HP, you can run your recovery disc and reinstall Vista.  Once everything is running on the HP, you can always remove the CD/DVD drive and reinstall it in the gateway PC if you wish.

  • Vista Home Premium: Startup time and office flaws often requiring the log off / log on to Correct

At all to being able to help solve these problems successfully:

When I bought my office, it came preloaded with Win XP (a FANATASTIC/s o!) with an installation disc free for Vista Home Premium. I have installed Vista until recently due to support XP being more available.

Problems currently on a regular basis (every reboot) are:

    (1) long startup (sometimes nearly 10 minutes)

    (2) the "Blacktop" (AERO) Vista appears generally "gray" (like Win Classic) but with VERY little
Services (icons missing, unable to run diagnostic programs, etc.).

In this situation, I usually 'Log Off' and 'Connect' again and it fixes the problem-"bitumen".
is back with the functions of the al. Despite this, I'll restart desktop using Services.msc. for all the functions

    are available.

    System information:

    (A) AMD 64 Athlon 3500 + (2.20 GHz)
    (B) 3.00 GB RAM
    (C) Vista 32 Bit (SP1 and SP2 installed (all updates current)
    (D) ATI Radeon XPress 200 Series (current driver)
    (E) all drivers are current (no changes required)
    (F) update BIOS (not not required)

    Note:

    (1) I am the user ONLY if the 'Default' options are regularly 'Log In' (as admin) - no guest accounts, etc.

    (2) I reduced some Desktop effects, which are not necessary (Menu Fade in and out, etc.) according to

instructions of MSFT community on how to do this and what is safe to disable. This helped a little
and I don't miss these features.

    (2) I deleted the "Windows.old" folder (as there was nothing to add to the Vista o/s).

    (3) I have NOT deleted the Partition which was part of the Win XP System Restore feature as)
"I don't know if I should as well as to think that I should keep this system offline and running XP).

    (4) I use a security program that securely wipes deleted data, cache password, etc..
Under Win XP, there was the possibility of "Protect Restore Points" (not required for Vista).
I do NOT use the option "delete shadow copies".

    My questions are:

    (A) what is the cause of the boot extended both office and how to tackle it successfully?

    (B) what is the problem with the desktop computer? I don't mind the Log in and out a lot but would like to get rid
me of this disadvantage.  I would like TO have the Vista boot WITHOUT having to Log in and out to

ensure that the AERO desktop is available and functional.

    (C) should I delete the files and restore Partition in Win XP? Is this the cause may be a conflict with
Vista? Also, please let know us if you think it would be better to keep these files available if no
    conflicts are possible or probable.

    (D) what is the path, the file name or folder (path if necessary) which governs the entire desktop
(startup, appearance, services, etc.). so I can enter my security software to exclude it from
    be affected?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Incidentally - for all owners of Scanner Epson 1200U running Vista Service Pack 2:

YES! Successfully, you CAN install and run this scanner on Vista with the EPSON Twain 5.53 driver without twisting your registry, etc.

    Steps to follow:

    (1) download the file of v5.53 (10245.exe) driver TWAIN Epson

    2) extract to the folder (default location or a location of choice) and open the folder

    (3) right click on the "Setup.exe" file, go to properties and set the compatibility to Win XP SP-2

    (4) run the configuration file and wait for Windows Vista to give up the search on the web, ignore the 'warning' when he

comes to the top and connect the scanner to complete installation as you did under Win XP (or earlier versions)

NOTE: You will have to wait a long TIME for the next window appears once complete Vista

research on the web. It seems that the reason why a lot of Vista with the Epson 1200U Scanner users are

running out of patience, that it was my problem-so, the Eureka moment happened!

My camera works great! The only loss is you open TWAIN in the application, is not
automatically start more. This may be fixable, but I'm glad it works and I don't know enough to make the necessary changes in the registry, etc.

    try to use MS-FIXIT

If that didn't help, then maybe you would not survive the installation completely, and you will have to reinstall vista with updates it's still once, don't worry, it happens to all peoples.

  • Computer laptop 32 bit Vista will not shareprint with XP Office officejet v40 printer. Help, please

I have read forums and tried everything for 4 days without luck.

I'm trying to print from my 32-bit vista laptop to my printer of office xp... an old officejet v40 printer.

The office prints well on this printer from xp desktop attached and I named shared printer.  All security and firewall disabled. I started at least 20 times and have tried to install unsuccessfully

It seems that the HP driver Web page has a driver for vista, BUT the instructions are only if you hang the printer directly with the USB... No shared networking. I always thought that you could just download the dirver to the computer and it turns when you go to install it. I made for the devil to the hook to the top of my computer vista laptop directly to the printer and it installs and works fine... BUT I want it in a network or shared... no USB.

Also, if I go to "Add a network printer" and select the printer in office shared in the list, it will be in my control panel as a printer on my laptop, but when I hit print, I get the pop box, which allows you to set the preferences, print etc, and when I hit print again, the small pop-up box flashes on for a second that it's printing paper... but no printing. Instead of this, when go to see what happened to the list of document status, I see the State of the document listed as error - printing"

I don't know if I have vista for this printer driver in my laptop or what? I'm totally confused by the present. I read somewhere that there is no way for a computer vista laptop to print over the network to this HP printer while the printer is connected directly to a computer running XP? Is this true?

I rarely if ever gave to be beaten by computer problems... but this one had me done bankruptcy for the third time and about to give up. Any help would be appreciated.

THIS TIME IT WORKED! After several months of not being able to print from my computer vista laptop for my v40 OfficeJet (which is connected to my desktop XP) I decided that I would give it one more try. I used once more Bob of the 2nd ad above, as well as suggesion Eddy's instructions to select "New Port" when you arrive at the end close to Bob's instructions. THIS TIME IT WORKED! I think I'm out track somewhere when I tried to do this several months ago. In any case, I thought that I have would expand a bit on what Bob wrote just in case there's someone that who needs a little more in detail. (For a beginner, even the smallest thing can be stumbling blocks if you have never done this kind of thing before)

On your computer vista laptop, go to printers and Control Panel. When you click the Printers icon you can click on add printer and select Add local printer (it even if it is not a local printer, but a printer that is connected to your desktop computer in another room) Ok... Then select "Use the existing Port" LP1. Then you select your printer from the list and click on it to install the driver. I think that you then click FINISH. (No you are not really over, so don't bother is not clicking on this Test Page again). Once you click FINISH, you will automatically be on the screen that shows the printers you have installed on your laptop. for help. You will then see the the OfficeJet v40 as the printer that you just installed. Highlight and right click. Then select "Run as Administrator". That will open a submenu where you and then click Properties. Then click on Ports, Add Port. Select "Local Port" and click "New Port" (as Eddy proposed). A small screen will appear where you enter now the \\NameOfPrinterYouArePrintingTo\ShareNameOfThatPrinter once you do this and click on apply and OK, you will be brought to a final screen where you will notice that the box LP1 is more verified. Place a check mark was automatically placed in the new port that you just created above IE name\sharename.  YOUR DONE!

  • How to install Office for Mac 2008 on El Capitan 10.11.3?

I'd love to help on how to install my Office for Mac 2008 software on my new MacBook Pro. When I run the installation I get the error message "Setup could not install the software because there's no software to install" who says a guy from Microsoft's Support could be because I was running the disc via remote disc from my old MacBook. He added that Yosemite is the latest OS to support the 2008 Microsoft software. Does anyone know if there is a way around this?

You may be able to create an iso from the installation disc, and then move the iso to your MacBook Pro and run it from there. RoaringApps.com said it should work in El Capitan without problem but I still do not believe their results.

    Hello John

It is not easy to understand the whole situation, especially the part with the virus.
In my opinion, Windows XP Home edition installation should not be problematic.

What you need is Windows XP Home SP2 or SP3 and driver SATA edition disc. Without SATA driver disk HARD will be not visible to Windows XP Home edition.

Thanks for the reply and the information updated. Check the link to your model and you will keep. Thre is no specific driver for Windows 10 for this computer for now, but there is a Bluetooth for Windows 8.1 driver.

I could start with the HP Support Assistant, as I mentioned and see if she can find something for you. It is useful to have, as it will seek new pilots as part of its function.  If this does not work for you, then you can try to install the driver Windows 8.1 of the support page.  Broadcom Bluetooth driver

Try to install such what, first and then Bluetooth test. If after the test, you still have trouble with the Bluetooth does not, try the method of this other link I posted on how to install a driver using compatibility mode, and then see if it will work for you.

  • Re: How to install any boot on the Satellite A300 Vista Manager

I want to install second OS on my A300 but can't do any boot manager works with Vista.

IBM os/2 bootmanager can start Vista, but Vista say he can't run winload and hang up, Acronis bootmanager does not see any OS to Vista's NTFS disk...

    Hello

Vista supports a clean Vista Boot Manager and there you can add all the installed OS.
I did after I installed my Win XP as second operating system.

First, I installed Win XP on the second partition but I couldn't start on Vista because Win XP damaged MBR (master boot record). That's why I started again from disk (NOT the Toshiba Recovery disk) Vista and the Vista disc to repair the MBR.
Then, I started in Vista and edited the BCD. You can use the freetool like EasyBCD because that would be the best way to add a second operating system for the Vista Boot Manager.

    See you soon
