Possibilities:
1. you are not the administrator. You don't have to enter the admin password valid when he asked for it.
2. you probably have the problem with the infection by the virus.
If you ARE the admin, suggestions:
a. run a full scan.
b. If the machine is clean, do your Safe Mode system restore.
How to go in safe mode?
Restart > immediately and repeatedly tapping the F8 key until you see a black and white scree > top? Touch down arrow, and then select Safe Mode > Enter > now that you are using safe mode. Make your system restore.

Thanks for posting the query on the Microsoft Community Forum.
From the description, it seems that the error revceive you associated with VSS snapshot.
- What security software is installed on the computer?
- Do you have any third-party backup program installed on the computer?
To begin troubleshooting, I would suggest that you do Check Disk
- Press Windows key + R
- Type "cmd" to open the command prompt.
- Type Chkdsk/r , and press enter.
Note:
If all available hard disk data can be lost when running chkdsk, as the chkdsk attempts to repair the affected area.
Reply with more information about the issue so that we can help you further.
I had the same problem with a HP dv5000 has an Intel Dual Core processor, after installed the 10 Pro Update window cleaning, after the update sent by Windows Update Service left me with this problem.
Thank you post I did check in the menu properties C: Tools.
After that, I was able to create a Restore Point.
Thank you very much for your message.

Well, all I can say is I tried to use the tool of restoration but always have the same answer, cannot perform the task. I wonder what to do because I opened the registry editor to see if something I did that intrigues, restoring the system but found nothing. While it would be! Thank youvery much!

Receive the error code 0x800700b7 during the Vista system restore
Get the error code 0x800700b7 during the restoration of the system.
"System restore failed due to an unspecified error. Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x800700b7).I have a Dell laptop, Studio, running on Vista. I just installed some Windows updates (ALWAYS a hassle!) and restarted the system. Failed to start,
I tried:
(7 times) Startup Repair
System Restore (at least 7 times - try them different restore points to restore the system, going back to mid-May
Trying to reboot without doing anythingThe error message persists. I can't boot the system in safe mode, so I'm not able to disable the antivirus software or go to start or anything else. Windows does not start. Y at - it a fix for this error message?
Help!I managed to fix it on my own over the weekend. In Safe Mode, disabled Norton and also downloaded a tool that Norton offers to help solve the problems of this kind. The tool worked and my laptop works fine now. The update of Java was the problem - I don't allow anything not my automatic update system, but Java auto-updated anti-virus Norton was on.

Original title: Windows 7 system restore always fail.
I get error code 0 x 80070005 that reads "system restore failed during the restoration of the registry since the restore point. I don't have Norton AntiVirus.
If anyone can help solve me this problem I would be very grateful.
Thank you for your response. I forgot to mention in my first post, I tried both methods without success. However, I finally understand how to solve the problem that led me to want to do a restore of the system in the first place. for now, I am therefore able to avoid a system restore.
Thanks again.

I want to do "System Restore" in Windows Vista. But I can't change the restore point. How to configure manual restore point? Can I enter a date I want to restore? I tried, but it did not work.

Hello
Either the system restore point is already created for an earlier date, or is not available.
You cannot create a restore today Point to return to yesterday.
You can create a restore today Point to use in the future.

Hello John R H,
Are you able to restore system successfully on a different date, or that you get the same result? I looked through this thread and was curious to know why you want to perform a system restore? Having other issues in addition to what you have described?
Try to make a last good known Configuration and see if you are able to perform a system restore.

Will system restore remove e-mail accounts created after the date of the restore point
Hello Nick,
The emails and your gmail account settings would not be affected. But, if you have configured your user account in Windows 8 with the newly created Gmail account, these configurations too after the restore point then only, would be affected not the main account to the Gmail server.
I hope this helps. Otherwise, feel free to write us again for more assistance, and we will be happy to help you come.

An error occurred during the restoration of the virtual machine
Hello world
I pause my vmware and when I try to restore it I have this error
«An error occurred in restoring the State of the virtual machine files "C:\Users\Asus\Documents\Virtual Machines\Windows Server 2008 R2 x64\Windows Server 2008 R2 x 64 - acc901af.vmss»»
Thank you
My suggestion would be to remove the State Suspended (.vmss) of the Virtual Machine file. Note that the removal of the waking state has the same effect as when you perform a hard reset of the virtual machine, or by pushing the reset button on a physical computer, in that all data in unsaved open applications is lost! However if the virtual machine resume so I don't see any other choice to try to run the Virtual Machine.

Dates of the Restore Points are one month in advance
For reasons I don't understand, the date of the day on my computer was changed to one month before the effective date, for example from May 13 to June 13, 2013. As a specialist, I kept getting messages that my Microsoft Security Essentials were outdated. Later, I discovered that all the restore points created after May 13 are dated June 13. I corrected the date and have updated Security Essentials and things are back to normal, but I have several restore points, a month in advance. Restore recent points are correctly dated now, but what can I do on these wrong, before the restore points. Thank you.
If the pc works fine, then 2 options:
1 turn off the system restore, which will remove all items, reboot, restart System Restore, and a system checkpoint will be created.
2. go to disk cleanup, use the tab options, System Restore, cleanup, it will erase everything but the last system restore points.
