During the upgrade of Vista SP2 to Windows 7 (including SP1) my keyboard is no longer in effect. How can I enter the activation code?

I'm in the process of upgrading to Vista SP2 (32 bit) to Windows 7 (32 bit) via DVD.  I saw that the process was going to take top one some time and went to sleep with the assumption that activation code window waiting for me in the morning.  Well it's here, but my USB keyboard does not (as no functional mouse).  I can't enter the code.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to approach this?

Press the power button, once, energetic and very slightly (do not press the button). If the PC is in sleep mode, it should wake him up.

  • Slow start after upgrade of Vista SP2

I've upgraded to Vista SP2 may 27 09, whenever I rebooted, because it takes an age to password screen to display. Later, he takes my OS a long loading time of all programs.

I suggest to perform a clean boot to prevent loading in the background startup programs.

You can have a few contradictory items running in the background and the origin of this problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click Start collapse this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

    c. under the general tab, click Selective startup , and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all .

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    b. click on the Services tab and then click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box.

    c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    d. click OK and then click restart .

Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services , and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    a. perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    b. click on the Startup tab and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    c. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 5: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click on start to reduce this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK .

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart .

    Hope this helps :)

I bought the laptop in 2006. The windows is genuine, but I don't have the activation code. What should I do? I installed vista and because I had no code after about 4 weeks it will stop. I'm up, but its prompting me to activate again. Help, please! This has been a good laptop and will continue to be if I can get help with activation.

Original title: old Dell laptop broke down.

    Hello

You can contact Dell and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks and to reinstall the operating system.

They should do this for a small fee.

If this method has not been destroyed by the last re - install, and if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

With a Dell, you press F8 at startup and follow the instructions

    http://www.Dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=266618

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

  • I don't have the activation code for my Windows Vista.

    OT: activation code.

I have a computer dell laptop with windows vista. The OS has been corrupted and I had to reinstall Vista.  I lost the original disk, but concluded that a backup I had made when I got the computer. It worked, but I don't have the activation code. I called Dell to ask them to send me disks of software for the software I got when I bought the computer. They are my account, but was told that they no longer support vista. For $200.00, they could get my computer work. I told them it worked. I just need the disc or activation code. They said that Microsoft would not let that happen. I don't know why. I bought the software, when I bought the equipment. It's mine.

I called Microsoft. Microsoft said that they no longer support Vista. They said buy a new computer or a new copy of Windows. I have four computers, without counting those at work. My other computers use Windows 10. I use the vista computer to play music. I know that I can buy a new computer for 200.00, but the Vista computer is all I need. I have that I just need a code to activate it. Because Microsoft does not sell, does support it, just give me a code. Microsoft tech support guy told me: 'go to the black market on the internet. Do a search for activation codes. I said, OK, given that Dell will not help me with the products that I've bought from them, and Microsoft doesn't help me with the product they make and Microsoft makes me refers to the black market, I guess that's my only option. »

A search of the internet has shown that there are a lot of people with my problem and many solutions of the product to keygens keys lists. But so far none of them have worked, and my anti-virus try to protect myself against malware. Y at - it REALLY No. MICROSOFT SOLUTION to MY PROBLEM, BUT THE BLACK MARKET?

    Hello

Recovery Dell disks who buy from Dell are what is recommended when when you lose your product key.

But you never mention looking for him:

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

If you need a disc to use this product key with:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Hello

you sitting not what type of disc you are using

you start from the DVD drive to do a clean install

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

    http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-XP-Vista/

    and read this too

    http://www.theeldergeek.com/Vista/vista_clean_installation.html

and here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
