dv2700 'missing' CD-ROM in Device Manager

Hello

I recently discovered that my CD has stopped working. I saw my Information System and there is no CD-ROM only whatever it is not listed under the components. Similarly, when I go to Device Manager, I don't have the option to select a DVD-ROM/CD-ROM drive.

When I insert a CD or DVD, trying to read the disc, but nothing happens. It does not have the same sounds that he used when he worked. I have no reason to believe that it is damaged, but I don't know how to fix it.  This could be a problem with the hardware itself?

Thank you for your help,

Liz

  • Problem HP DV4 - 2100 Webcam, missing same picture of Device Manager device

    Hello

I have HPdv4 - 2100. The laptop is a year (bought in April 2010) and now out of warranty. The OS is Win Home Premium 7.0

I had the problem with the webcam. All of a sudden it has stopped working. Also, I don't see imaging device in Device Manager. I tried all the updates, contact the HP support by phone, lost a lot of time without result.

Recently I started to use an external monitor, screen and keyboard. I noticed when I tilt the screen at angle of 45 degrees or less the webcam has started working. I can even see the imaging device listed in Device Manager. If I am inclined then 45 degrees of the webcam no longer works, even imaging device get disappear from Device Manager.

The problem is when I need to use the machine with the webcam, I can't use, because you can't work with the screen tilted at 45 degrees. It must be set by HP engineer.

So the conclusion is there may be a fault of (acrack or bad connection) cable that connects to the webcam to the computer of PCB.

I wonder the poor quality of the cable or the connection used in this machine, which is a year old and not used much.

I write this so that people facing simillar problem, try.

It was a problem with the webcam and view the cable. Both had to be change.

  • Vista Home Premiun Device Manager does not display my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive

I recently tried to use my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and it did not work. It was working fine a few days previously but now... Nothing.

My first reaction was to open Windows Explorer, expand and look at computer. There was my C drive and the recovery Partition but no Opitical drive more.
Then I opened the Device Manager and saw that the CD was registered it is more as well?

    My question is

Vista automatically removes the CD-ROM drive in the list of Device Manager if there is a problem with the drive itself?

Or is there something that happened this suppression the CD-ROM in Device Manager list and it is not a problem with the drive itself?

I had a disc go bad before on a PC running Windows 98 and 2000, but the disc stayed in the Manager list but I'm pretty new to Vista and know things are very different. So before we get in panic Mode, I thought that it would be a good idea to ask where someone will know probably for sure.

    Thanks in advance for clues

    Hello

1st try a restore of the system if you have a point of return before it happened.

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

    -----------------------------------

    If no joy:

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • ProBoob s 4540: unknown device in Device Manager

I reloaded the OS on a SSD and thought I downloaded all the drivers from hp.com devices but I must have missed one. In Device Manager, there is an entry named other devices - unknown device. I clicked it to get the properties, but there is no useful information other than "the drivers for this device are not installed." I clicked on Update Driver, but Windows didn't find anything (but that's normal as Windows). I can't determine where the problem is. The player (Ralink) wireless card (Memory Technology Driver), wired (Realtek), fingerprint reader (validity), touchpad (Synaptics), webcam (HP/Sonix), USB 3.0 (Intel) and sound (IDT and Intel) all have their own sections and seem to agree. Any suggestions?

  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM missing from Device Manager, FRUSTRATED!

I jumped on my computer today, to copy a disc in iTunes and found that Windows is for some reason, do not recognize my DVD/CD drive.  Now, the drive is very good; This works.  I put in a disc and it runs.  But that's all.  I go to Device Manager to see what is the problem and I find that the knot of READERS of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is missing altogether.  -What happened?  If anyone can help (not you, Rob;) I already tried everything in your list of suggestions), please.  I would appreciate.

    DT

    Hi Dtorres,

    • What exactly do you mean by it works when I insert the disk?

If the device is missing in the Device Manager, it may be due to hardware failure or if the drive cables are not connected properly. This can also happen if there is a damage in the drive cable, windows will not be able to detect the drive.

However, you can contact the computer manufacturer to verify if there is any firmware that you can install for the CD / DVD player and if you can run a diagnostic tool for the material.

You can also start the BIOS of your laptop and check if the drive is detected in the BIOS and post back the result.

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

my computer does not recognize the Device Manager cd/dvd/rom drive says corrupted or missing code 39

Try following the steps under "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" in the MS KB article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.

  • Satellite M - DVD/CD ROM missing in my device manager

My computer for some reason unknown to me, recognize or load content on any DVD or CD that I put in my combo drive. The disc turns and acts like it is loading, but nothing happens. I want to switch from XP to Vista. whether a disk of music or a dvd movie disc, it always does the same thing. I have a satellite M45-S2652. I tried the registration procedure and nothing has changed. Before that, when I clicked in my device manager and everything was ok, he read "(MAT *** un DVD) RAM UJ - 831 S."

I tried to use my windows recovery disk, but the computer does not recognize it. I tried the restore later, when I clicked in my device manager, under DVD ROM, I saw a bunch of script gibberish with a yellow exclamation point, but the same thing was happening. Y at - it someone who had that same kind of experience and solved. Will you please help me to solve my problem. I want to upgrade to Vista.

    Thank you.

Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.

    (1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
    2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart.

If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

This utility can remove the filters for you:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/content/support/bulletins/su2065061/RmvFltrs.exe

If it still does not respond, you may need to replace the DVD drive

If the drive is viable that these can help:

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    do it right.
