  I have a computer notebook hp pavilion dv4-2045dx. Unfortunately, the battery has stopped working, and so I want to buy a new hp original battery.

  There is no obligation nor a necessity to buy a HP OEM battery for your laptop.  If you buy a HP randed battery it will cost you much more than a battery that is not HP brand. There is no difference in quality as long as buy you one with a one year warranty.

  Having formerly operating Pavilion dv4-2045dx a friend.  When turned on, no screen activity is displayed.  Hard diving turns upward, but not for very long, so it doesn't seem as if Windows is actually behind the empty screen loading.  I tried to connect a monitor to the display port, but nothing appears on the external monitor or integrated display.  The command has been removed and the data seems to be intact.

  I guess the screen is dead and with it the computer.  Any suggestions before I tell him, is it time for a new laptop?

I'm not sure of the dv4 on top of my head, but some use laptops that are welded on the processors and you should replace the whole Board.   I currently have problems with my computer's CD drive.  He has been unable to read discs of any kind of music, DVDS and software programs for several months now.  The main problem seems to be with an inability to properly install the driver for the cd drive.

  When running "find and solve the problems" of section "Troubleshooting" in the Control Panel, I get an error message that says that there is a problem with the driver for the cd drive.  Whenever I try to install the driver, he is not able to do so and contact the manufacturer of your computer.  I also tried to download all the updates and I get essentially the same message.

  You will need to perform a system recovery to get this software. It is not available for download and I do not think that HP sends separately the installation media.

  If you used the recovery disks to reinstall the operating system (or the recovery partition), you should be able to reinstall the applications that have been uninstalled by going to the SWSetup folder on drive C:\ and has all the program installation files that are located in these folders.

  You'll just have to hunt around for them to find the applications to install.

  As I said in my header object, my laptop is unable to start. He blinks at the HP screen and then takes me to a black screen telling me that there is no boot device. OLEDS (caps and Num lock) Flash 4 times throughout the process. When I try to restore my system with my recovery disks, it loads up for Win7 but fails to reinstall/recover by ending the restore process and gives the error message:

  You tried the good things so far.  Errors are pointing to hard drive failure.  You can try to remove/reset or replace the hard drive.  If a known good hard drive is still not detected, then you can have more serious problems.
