DV6 - 6153cl drivers for biometric devices missing after system restore

Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6153cl Entertainment PC with Windows 7. I used the fingerprint reader, since I have my laptop. The scanner has stopped working.

Background: two weeks ago, I downloaded the latest version of Norton 360 (Version 21.1.1.7), which caused my laptop to keep crashing every few hours. After much time consulting technical support, I did a system restore to a few days before the new version download then downloaded the version of Norton 360 and active. This solves the problem of crash.

Problem: After restoring the system, my fingerprint reader no longer works. By control panel > all Control Panel items > biometric devices, "Windows do not have the biometric devices on this computer. You will need to attach your device or install device drivers. "Can someone tell me what are the correct drivers that I need and where to find them?

Thanks for your help!

Hello

First of all, download and reinstall the driver Validity Sensor on the following link.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe

Once completed, restart the laptop.

If it still not works, you may also need to reinstall HP SimplePass on the link below.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp54501-55000/sp54680.exe

Yet, when it has installed, restart the laptop.

Kind regards

    Dear Sir.
Today, on a tecra M2, I did a system restore, but suddenly, the message came that I had to re - install the following file: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe :

How can I do this: put in the recovery cd or just make a formatting the drive with the restore cd?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

System Restore is a very useful tool, but it is not the miracle solution! :-)

Your "ntoskrnl.exe" file seems to be corrupted and this file is very important as you BONE!
You can try to start Notepad, and then press the key "F8". This will take you to a menu and you can choose the 'last known good configuration"and the VGA Mode.

If you are lucky your laptop work after that, otherwise you can only recover the portable whole! But if you have important data on the NB you safe to an external drive!

Before uninstalling anything technology Bluetooth, Device Manager was as follows:

I uninstalled the BCBT7 (Broadcom Bluetooth) of the control panel. However, the Bluetooth drivers are still intact.

I tried to uninstall the driver by clicking on "right click" on the Bluetooth device on Device Manager, and then I chose 'uninstall '.   Then, all Bluetooth entries disappeared.

However, when I restarted my PC, the Bluetooth entries were once again:

How to remove all components of a register Bluetooth device and everywhere on the system to get a clean install of it again.

I checked the registry and found some Bluetooth entries below are still exist along with the icon in the notification area.

Should I delete all of the above entries manually?

    Cooperator Hello,

It seems that the generic drivers provided by Microsoft for your Bluetooth device are the cause of the problem. That is why, even if you have uninstalled them before restarting your PC, they have been re-installed again. To stop Windows to install the drivers automatically, go to Start, type "change device installation settings" and select to open the corresponding window. It should look a little like this,

Change Yes, this automatically (recommended) settings to No, let me choose what to do. Select never install the software driver from Windows Update. Press save changes and restart or disconnection of your PC. Now, install the Bluetooth drivers provided by the manufacturer of the device and see if the problem still occurs.

Let us know what happens. Hope this helps,

  • Adapter network missing after system restore...

I recently restored my old XP due to a massive system failure system. Restoring a drive hard new, reformatted, is well spent, except that now I can't connect to the internet. Diagnosis of the error indicates miss me my "network adapter".

It seems to me that this should have been on one of the restore CD I got with my computer, but I have gone through each of them and can't find anything else to restore. Since then, I cannot connect to the internet, is there another way to get a network adapter? And how do I know if I have the right?

Thank you, haaruun. It turns out that there was another restore disc I had trouble loading and had set aside. I went back to it and was able to find a folder named 'PILOT' on this subject and has moved to my system and that did the trick.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand your annoyance that you cannot update the driver hub USB rot. Please follow the steps below to help you to solve the problem.

I would like to inform you that a Code 28 error is caused by a driver missing for that piece of hardware.

There are all sorts of reasons that a driver could not be installed for a device, but your troubleshooting the problem will be the same regardless of the root cause.

    • Remove or reconfigure newly installed unit.
    • Restore the version before your driver update.
    • Use system restore to undo recent changes in Device Manager.

Step 1: Roll back the driver to the version before your update.

If you are having problems with your computer or device after upgrading sound driver, you can restore to an earlier device driver. If you are having problems with your computer or device after upgrading sound driver, you can restore to an earlier device driver. If you are having problems with your computer or device after upgrading sound driver, you can restore to an earlier device driver. When Windows 7 starts up again, it will load with the device driver of this material that you had previously installed.

I suggest you to uninstall the driver from hub to rot Fresco Logic USB Device Manager and install the most recent on the manufacturer's Web site.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers to 7 (update drivers manually using the methods above is preferred
to make sure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

  • a trick to find the drivers for "unknown devices".

I see a lot of messages on the forum in which users try to find the drivers for "unknown devices" in the Device Manager.  That's how I usually go on the search for drivers for these users.  I thought that the community, this may be useful.

I use a site called pilot identifier.  However, I do NOT use the stand-alone application.  I'm NOT suggesting that do you.  I have not used the app, so I can't speak to its usefulness.

I use the site to determine exactly what is the material element.  To do this, the site doesn't have a search function, I use a updated Google search the.  I will now give the steps with examples.

First of all, you need the hardware ID for your hardware.  To locate this information, follow these steps.

    1. Click Start, type "Device Manager" and press ENTER.
    2. Look for the device that needs a driver.
    3. Right click on the device and select Properties.
    4. Go to the tab "Details".
    5. Select hardware ID from the drop-down.

Here is an example of a hardware ID:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_10EC & DEV_0662 & SUBSYS_103C3047 & REV_1001.

I then use this Hardware ID and Google to determine what the hardware item by searching for the use of the site: modifier for Google.  So, my research looks like this

    "site:www.driveridentifier.com .

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_10EC & DEV_0662 & SUBSYS_103C3047 & REV_1001.

When I go to the first result, it will be, in general, identify the material at the top of the page.  Here is the page for my research above.   The page identifies audio material like "realtek high definition", which is correct because it's the hardware for my sound card ID.

Now, on this page if you scroll down it gives you a list of all OEM drivers for this piece of hardware.  However, you cannot download the drivers from them without having to install their software.  What I do is so, note the name of the driver for HP.  In this case, you will see that she is named "sp59642.exe".

Because I can not download the driver from the website, or even be directly connected to HP's Support site from there, I still use Google.

This time, I use a search of "sp59642.exe" in Google, which returns this page as the first result.

I can't always find the executables that are listed by pilot identifier.  For example, I can't locate sp59660 or sp59662 who are both on the same list.  So it may take a few tries to find a driver, but I had some success using this method.

I hope the community finds this useful tip.  Have a great week everyone!
