DV6-6c15nr, "the system recovery media does not support this computer."

Hi all. I'm trying to reformat my laptop (dv6-6c15nr), but when I try to reformat to f11the recovery manager f, all options are such that the system restore and restore to factory is grayed out. The next thing I tried was a set of recovery disks. When I used the recovery disks, it showed the message "this computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore the system with the media. 0110 A601UA #ABA - A1U60AV. Why can I not reformat my laptop... I remember that I was able to reformat until I sent offshore to get the hard drive and the radiator replaced by hp year last April. Now I can't get to... that this has to do with anything? someone please help...

I also tried without the bios downgrade F.19 REV: a. which do not help either.

It seems that the motherboard may have been changed and the information system (tattoo) has not been updated to match that of your computer. While I can't fix this for you, I can suggest some possible solutions and I work to spare;

(1) you can contact HP Customer Support and ask that they correct the problem.

(2) attempt to control that recovery discs for the model of the motherboard is currently labeled as.

(3) If you can still read the Windows product key of 25 characters on the Microsoft COA affixed on the computer, you can install Windows 7 using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7 SP1, create the installation media and install Windows 7 SP1 using the 25-digit key from the COA Microsoft on your computer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I have a HP G7-1365DX and the hard drive (750 GB) is a failure.  I did a recovery file on a USB key from the recovery partition and then replaced the hard drive with a 120 GB SSD.  When I tried to reinstall the USB system, I get the message "the system recovery media does not support this computer."  Is it because the hard drive was replaced by a SSD?  How to restore the system if the recovery disk does not work?

    Hello

You are right about the source of this problem - HP recovery media often has problems of restoring the operating system on a smaller disk in quality than appeared on.

There are a few options available.

    1. if the 750 GB drive is still able to operate, use your recovery media to perform a factory reset and then use software (or Windows 7 own imaging utility) for this clone of your SSD.

2 create your own recovery media to use to run the installation - it would be my personal preference.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • Pavilion 23-b244 AiO: the system recovery media does not support this computer

    Hey all,.

I had a power outage (1 TB) HD material on me about a week ago and replaced by a (500 GB) SSD, not purchased from HP.  I then ordered the recovery disc from HP for this particular serial number.  Whenever I boot on the recovery discs, I get "this computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore the system with the media. "The Minsize argument in the instructions to build on the DVD file provides a minimum of 140 GB, so I don't think I have a new smaller drive system is the question.

Last month I have updated the firmware to v80.08, and in the bios "product name", 'SKU number', 'serial number of the chassis' fields are all empty.  In "System ID", everythign is empty except UUID and family name.

I think that's why I'm not able to boot to recovery discs?

Any help would be appreciated, I have use this computer for quickbooks and have bee unable to do accounting for a week and a half.

Figured it out! On my Pavilion, you press Ctrl + A in the bios then click on 'System IDs'. Then I was able to type in the ID to build my recovery and support the byte to feature on the sticker under my machine. F10 to save then the recovery media recognized the computer properly and booted up!

  • System recovery disks do not support this computer

Two weeks ago, crashed my HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 480 t hard drive model.  It is a 1.5 TB came with the PC.  I bought a WD 1 TB hard drive and installed.  When I used my recovery discs, I received a message, "the system recovery disks do not support this computer.  You are not able to restore this system with these discs. "Because I had never used these recovery discs, I assumed I had their damn so I bought authentic system recovery disks from HP.  Yesterday them - even received training as before.  I called HP tech support and I was told that those recovery disk works with a hard drive that is identical with the original hard drive.  Located between the two hard drives that the original HD had a 3 GB/s, and the new is 6 Gbps.  Is this correct?  They "graciously" offered replacing my new hard drive with a hard drive that works for only $180.  Seems a little steep, but I am confused.  Is system of technical recovery disks?  I would like another opinion.  If buying a new motherboard out me of this?  If someone knows a resolution to my situation, I would be very grateful.  Help!

    Hello

In fact, you have more options that will avoid spending more in $$. The first thing I would try is the utility that provides HP. It is used for when the set of recovery disks does not work with a new hard drive. Follow the instructions of this web document.

View your results. If the results are negative, we can install the operating system on your new hard drive with another method.

What is the WD SATA drive model you purchased?

  • Problem of Pavilion dv67023tx, drive damaged, recovery system recovery cd does not work

Hi all! I really need help

I bought my computer hp laptop Pavilion dv67023tx July 2012.  When I bought it, they gave me a set of recovery disks. January 2013, I did a system restore. It was fine then.

Later, after some software hp update my cd player began to eject automatically. The light of the hp on the lid logo disappeared also. My audio jack went wrong from the beginning. So for all these problems together, I took it to the service center, and as it was in warranty period, they sent to hp. 3 months later I have my laptop back, I was informed that hp has changed the hard drive, motherboard, cover, screen.

There is a month Itried to install some of my software I used earlier, but they were not working. If I had no other way than a system recovery using this link

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01867418

Then the main problem occurred. I couldn't do a system recovery from disk on my laptop. Then when I tried to do the recovery disks and he says, the system recovery disks do not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with these discs.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01868346

This link said, maybe its because hp has changed the motherboard.

Now what should I do? I need a factory. But recovery in my laptop drive does not work, my recovery disks do not work. Please help me out of this. Or give me email ID so I can contact HP directly with problems, I do not find anything.

Others suggesting me to install a pirated Windows 7, I don't want it. I had a real windows 7 pre installed, why should I?

I'm sorry but I can't help you with recovery disks not working is not on your computer, but I don't have an alternative. If you can still read the 25 characters on the COA affixed Microsoft Windows product key at the bottom of the computer, you can install Windows 7 Home Premium using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7 SP1, create the installation media and install Windows 7 SP1 by using the 25 digit product key from the COA Microsoft on your computer.

  • Portable CQ58, disk recovery "this computer is not supported by the system recovery media.

    Hello HP,.

I have a laptop CQ58-bf9WM, which had Windows 8.1.  The 320 GB hard drive died and bought a new SATA 500 GB laptop.  had no CD recovery, went online, enter all the important information, serial No., model #, then purchased through HP recovery disk, received the CD (manufacturer 708896-001, 708895-001 708897-001) and put #1 disc in the CD started and that's what I get: this computer is not supported by the system recovery media.  You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these media.  "Error: 0100-169-1855-188 b" then you have the OK, then when you press OK, the laptop shuts down.  I pressed ESC on POST, then I tested memory and the new hard drive and they both passed.  HELP PLEASE!  Thank you

Should not have anything to do with the new hard-both disk that is at least equal or greater than original ability, they work. It is 'possible' that you have received the wrong set of recovery.

Thing of OE to check. Enter the BIOS by pressing F10 immediately after turning on (have to press ESC, then F10 to the menu). Is the serial number, model number.etc all intact?

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

    Hello

You have problems with the laptop?
If not then why you want to do the BIOS? Just because the new BIOS is released?
I would not change anything if my laptop is running correctly.

However, the update of the BIOS requires the VAP (value added package).
So remember that this PPV is installed correctly. If this isn't the case, so far.
