DV7-6195us, a 15mm high hard drive adapt?

I have a laptop DV7-6195us.

I want to upgrade the hard drive in the drive Bay Second to a Western Digital WD20NPVT, 2 TB hard drive. This drive is 15mm high. My current drives are 9.5 mm in Bay 1, 12.5 mm in bay 2.

The larger hard drive will fit inside the bay, with or without secondary hard drive bay changing? If the change is necessary, what is involved for the mod?

Thank you.

Dave

Dave1290,

Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion dv7-6195us Entertainment Notebook computer. Here is the HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide for your computer. According to the "maintenance and Service Guide", Page 6 - Chapter 1 - "Product Description", only the following drive formats are supported;

Hard drives - Supports 6.35 - cm (2.5 in.) 12.7 mm hard drives (.50in), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and 7.0 mm (. 28 - in.) thick

According to the information above, the answer is that a 15mm disc does not fit into your computer. Change can allow the reader to adapt, but could compomise the drive and/or computer. I wouldn't recommend any change to this effect.

Please send Bravo

    Hello

First of all, you need to use the HARD drive adapter selectable right Bay which is compatible with the Portege S100.

I found an and it seems that the HARD drive adapter Bay selectable PA3408U-1ETC is the right!
Case Interface is serial ATA (SATA). And the Serial - ATA 80GB HDD Kit PA3407U - 1 H 80 must be compatible with the select Bay case

  • Pavilion dv7-4000 1 replacement of hard drives with more

I have a dv7-4000 series double portable hard drive running windows 7 64 bit. One of the drives died and I am looking to buy a replacement and want to upgrade, but I'm not sure if I have 2 hard disks of different sizes.

    (1) can I replace factory bad HARD drive with a larger 320? (I'd then 1 factory 320 GB drive and 1 car again, more)

    (2) is the brand of the material of hard drive (Toshiba courses)?

    (3) are there any specific specs I should look for or avoid (ie. rpm, Gbps, etc.)?

Hi wweksjk! : Yes, you can have 2 HD with different capacities for example on my PC of Xion MSI, which was built in 2006, I had 2 HD Western Digital, respectively 160 GB & 250 GB divided into 3 partitions

the brand name is not as important as the number of turns faster the car turns your computer will be faster

also look at the size of the buffer on the disk as well because the more it will speed up the boot time as well

However install a new drive as boot drive will be complex, but if you follow the instructions that come with the HD installer it is possible

for example, a 7200 RPM drive is faster than a 5400 RPM, but not as fast as a model k 10 or 15 k

    Good luck

hope this helps to & help

  • HARD drive adapter vs autonomy...?

    Hi guys,.

Forgive me if my question have been discussed before, impossible to find all threads...

I think with the purchase of the HARD drive adapter for my T410 so that I can place a 2nd HDD optical drive, thought to 1 TB. My question is, how much battery life will be affected if I go that direction?

All input will be greatly appreciated

    Omar

Generally, it will be as much as relugar HARD drive inside. Usually going to have impact on battery life 30-60 minutes-depending on the use of the HARD disc.

7200 RPM hard drives drain more and are often noisier and definitelly get a little hotter than 5400 prm. So I would suggest with 5400 RPM HARD drive.

I have a HP ENVY dv7 - 7398ca. The original hard drive crashed. I replaced it with a Kingston SS drive and plan to add a second drive slave 1 TB.

My question is, the stock fan will be able to handle the heat of two hard disks.

    Thanks for any response.

    Hello

Should be ok. The machine is designed to manage two HDD mechanical (or normal).

  • W520 Ultrabay second hard drive adapter

    Hello

I just bought a W520 and I would had an SSD.

The idea is to remove the current HARD drive, place a SSD in place, remove the optical drive Ultra Bay and place the (deleted) HARD drive. I would like to know if I should order an adapter to connect the HARD drive in the Bay of the Ultra.

    I found this: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/frweb/LenovoPortal/fr_FR/catalog.workflow:item.detai...

I called Lenovo French support center but they say clearly.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello BGI:

Personally, I don't think it's a problem that the UltraBay tape for the hard drive is shorter than 3 mm slot.  My guess (strictly a guess), it's that there are other models of laptops Lenovo out there who cannot accept a high 9 mm UltraBay object and makes Lenovo a deliberate choice to ensure that the UltraBay tapes would fit into all different machines - rather than having a second version that only fit in series W520.

The tape drive does not come with the computer (the computer comes with a CD/DVD player, except if you have ordered a RAID instead).  The tape drive is an option that must be controlled.  I ordered mine as I placed the order for the computer.

  • Tecra M5: Need for a Slim Select Bay HARD drive adapter

I bought the Tecra M5 last week and I'm very happy with it, but I also bought the disc adapter HARD Slim SelectBay (number PA3134U-2CTE)
I already have a hard drive to go inside, but upon arrival, I found that they are not compatible, and I need a caddy / adapter plate so that it all works!

Anyone have any ideas on a market after copy?
I spent the last 4 hours of the day on the phone with various departments within Toshiba and suppliers, of which none seem to be able to help. I'm going to spend 280 on a 100 GB HARD drive, when a 120 gig on his own is only 120, I think 160 for the plate of the evasive / caddy is too expensive!

    Cheers in anticipation.

    Nick

    Hello

I found information on the net that the adapter Slim Select Bay drive HARD PA3134U-2CTE is a really good part, and I imagine that you must now only a compatible HARD drive.
The drive HARD and any other compatible parts, you can order from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

Check this page for the basic options for Tecra M5:

I use 2.5 "external HARD drive, but I never tried with 1.8 HDD".

  • Need info on the HARD drive adapter and utility installation Vista on Equium A110

I am the owner of a satellite A110 - 233 (PSAB2E), and I've recently upgraded to Vista after installing 2 GB of RAM. However, I was somewhat short space hard disk and I dealt with a new 120 GB HARD drive. However, it seems that the computer has an interface of edge, like the current Hitachi TravelStar HARD drive connector - it's not like there's a plug of the adapter on the disk. Anyone know where I can get an adapter for my hard drive of 40 pins 'traditional '?

After I installed Vista and flashing my BIOS, I have ConfigFree reiinstalled and value added package (among other pilots). However, running ConfigFree always leads to a crash with the ID of BSOD "NO_MORE_IRC_STACK_LOCATIONS."
In regards to the PPV, I mainly wanted it for energy savings. However, searching for him gives only 'Power Saver help'.

Can someone give me guidance here? Thank you.

    Hello

Did you know that you have a disk serial - ata of your machine which is not compatible with the standard IDE (40 pins)? You won´t get a spindle adapter 40 to serial ATA, SATA is a completely different technology to the IDE.
You will need to return the drive, you bought and buy a disc serial - ata, that will fit your machine.

A small idea on my side about your BSOD:

Download the powersaver and the configfree for vista on the internet (it is a good address: http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp) and reistall that stuff, maybe it helps.

    Welcome them

  • HP dv7 6b51ea: hp dv7 6b51ea, install second SSD hard drive HELP

Yes, the cable's owner. HP recovery will not install the software from the factory to a 256 gigabytes as the SSD drive, you want to buy. I understand perfectly what you want to do and I try to help you to do so after doing it myself several times. In the hope of you help get through the common pitfalls.

This is the cable you need on eBay UK:

    http://www.eBay.co.UK/ITM/HP-Pavilion-dv7-6000-6xxx-series-second-hard-disk-drive-connector-cable-SATA-/221560484828?hash=item339608b3dc:g:0PoAAMXQQQZRzzaH

Now let's work on getting to the supported Windows 7 installation if you install it on your Virgin SSD. You are going to need some sort of media set as an external hard drive. We need to get the HDD 1 TB in the Bay of primary and get Windows 7 running on it. The HP recovery disk will work for this.

  • Envy DV7: What size/form factor hard drive is in my laptop?

    Good evening.

Well, my desire for two year, died the other day care of overheating the chronic problems that seem struck Envys at this time. My block of cooling died beforehand, that was probably the cause of the rise in temperature. Yep, that burning smell of rubber from the exhaust vents was kind of present that something was wrong, as well as the characters of ding strange wing that the display has been put in place and the intense heat of the keyboard who suddenly developed. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty. I really liked this PC, too.

In any case, I would remove the hard disk that is inside to retrieve the data using an external hard drive enclosure but I need to know what size or form factor of the hard drive is to buy the appropriate forum. I guess it's a 2.5-inch form factor. Is this correct?

    Thank you very much

    Bob

Yes, it is 2.5 inches. You can just buy SATA TO USB adapter:

It is unlikely that any local/repair depot/jobber provider has a part on the spot. They might be able and willing to order one for you. According to the manufacturer, it may be available through their web site. Sometimes, it takes a lot to dig through menus and searches to find the ads.

  • Hard drive adapter 5,25 inches

I have a HP e9280t.  It comes from the factory with two hard drives and a DVD.  I would like to add a third hard drive.  It sounds simple enough, but obviously, it will go in the single Bay empty 5.25 ".  I need to find an adapter for 3.5 "hard drives that are compatible with the Bay 5.25" without tool.  I was hoping that HP has sold a part, but if they do, they hide it of course on their website.  Can anyone recommend such an adapter?  Thank you.

Have you given up on the idea, or have you found a workaround?

I think putting the empty adapter in its place and drill a hole in the chassis and the adapter.  It looks like I can then use a self-tapping screw to lock the adapter in place.

    Thanks for the reply.
