DV7-6b75nr: Intel PROSet/Wireless Zero Configuration Service. Stopped working

In the last days, I started to see this error in the Action Center reliability monitor. If I check "msconfig" / Services tab, in my view, it is running and a tick the box on the left. A reboot does not see a new entry in the monitor. It seems to occur only on the first boot of the day.  Quick Compand "sfc" files are good. I am attaching a capture details

  • Error - the Intel PROSet/Wireless event log Service stopped working andwas closed

Whenever I am re-booting, I get this error window:

"Error - Service of Intel PROSet/Wireless event log stopped working andwas closed."

It started a month ago. I can't tell at all what I did--except that I installed a router Linksys Cisco Wireless (802.11 N), replacing an old Netgear device (802.11 G).  My wireless feature works well and I really do not notice the effects to receive this error message.  I don't remember having this error immediately after installation of Linksys.  I "think" some time elapsed before the error started - but I don't re-boot often, so it could be related.

I'm on Vista Ultimate OS, with Service Pack 2.

  • Wireless zero configuration service does not properly

    OK, here's what I did:

1A started with a fresh install of windows xp pro sp3

2 installed EDIMAX usb wireless adapter

3 downloaded all the critical updates available for the operating system

4 installed several other pieces of hardware, microsoft office, Photoshop, Avast antivirus, etc..

At different points along the way, the restore points were made.

Everything was hunky dory until the very last point to install a HP printer....

On his return from a restart of the system, cannot connect wireless adapter.

The window that lists the wireless connections available indicates that windows cannot configure the connections because some other wireless software apparently resumed its function.

He said that if I wanted to have windows set it up for me, I could restart it from services.msc.  When I arrived, I found the wireless configuration service was set to automatic, however she didn't start.

I then resumed, after started what it remained only for the rest of the session.  When the computer has been restarted, he returned to the same State as before.

I then tried all available system restore points, which could NOT be restored.

I tried to uninstall the faulty printer drivers and software, which also did not fix the problem.

In desperation, tried a Microsoft Fixit applet which is supposed to be a disable half dozen services known to cause this problem, but as far as I could tell, they have never been installed on this machine.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can resstore this system to work properly?

Number 1 (WPS2.0 HW PBC Service) is a service of Edimax associated your Edimax wifi card

Number 2 (Wired AutoConfig) is the built-in Windows service that is used with your wired (Ethernet) network card.  She appeared in XP service pack 3.

    Number 3 (Wireless Zero Configuration)
is the integrated service of Windows that configures your wireless adapter.  You can have only one service running to configure your wireless network card: is WZC or Edimax service.

"WPS" stands for "WiFi Protected Setup" and "PBC" is the term of Edimax for "Press the Configuration button."  These two relate to a method of security configuration of wireless networks that has been designed to allow 'users at home who know little of wireless security and may be intimidated by the available security options' to set the security on their wireless networks.  Unfortunately, WPS has found to have security holes (click the link to the Wikipedia article for more details).

In any case you don't need number 1, especially once your network has been configured with appropriate encryption.  As to why install a HP printer might have caused the problem, I can only speculate: is your printer a wireless printer?  If so, he may very well have included the version of HP of WPS... who have somehow damaged the Edimax installation.

  • Wireless Auto configuration does not work after that manual set up

Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) stopped working on my computer at random.  I went online found some resources how to click Run, put in a formula and get it up and running again. It worked... once. When I turned off my computer and turned it back the next day, WZC did not work again, so I went through the whole process, once again, but now it doesn't work at all. I guess I should just uninstall and reinstall the Configuration automatic service, but I assure you that I do things. Can someone help me if I can do my work on my computer again? Thank you

Yes, it's the process that I have lived, more than 15 times.  When you make my hours of searching, he had 3 different codes to use when using:

    Start > run

    1 %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s

    2 ncpa.cpl

    3, sysdm.cpl

Regarding the third party... my laptop is very old, but I took good care of her. This issue is literally something that started when I turned it on.  Wi - Fi, I have a "Broadcom" symbol (which was always there) in my quick launch.  Other than that there is no component of third-party wireless known on my computer.

The command symbol Broadcom wireless utility IS a third party.  Although you can have the icon in the notification area since you had the computer, it must have been turned off and is now activated.  Either click or right-click on the icon of Broadcom and see if you can find a section 'options' or 'preferences' which will allow you to disable for Windows order your wireless card.

  • Intel PROSet/Wireless on Pro U300 does not recognize, WPA2 or SSID

Hidden SSID) The Intel PROSet/Wireless client takes up more than an hour sometimes to recognize my wireless router, which is set to WPA2 security and has a hidden SSID. I share with a neighbor, who refused to resign from his security wireless. However, while simple clients such as Netstumbler can find the signal within seconds, the customer supported by Toshiba takes MUCH more time. Why Intel and Toshiba was so slow to update this client? Very simple (1 year) $30 Netgear Wireless USB stick my office connects immediately, without no questions, no problems.

Windows Windows Update) has just published an "update" that installed itself without my request, which makes now so that the customer of Intel, windows and the system of "configfree" all declare "another wireless control system" when none of them work. Windows now automatically connects to a local wireless router on my street that is not listed on my profile, and who he can't get an IP address because, naturally, it has set up no password.

First of all that this is a user to user forum and the question as why drivers update not faster is meaningless. What we can do is to provide some suggestions that may solve some problems

Back to your question; I think you should just check the Intel page and need to install the driver WLan last, available for this minPCI wireless network card.
    In addition, you can choose between 2 different WLan configuration possibilities;
    (1) you can use the clean Windows configuration option
    (2) you can use a WLan configuration client as Intel ProSet utility

If you use the Intel ProSet utility, then the windows own option should be disabled.
In last but not least you should check if all the parameters of the Protocol TCP/IP LAN wireless are set to automatic.

    By the way; If you are using XP then you must install this fix;

+ Wi - Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) / Wireless Provisioning Services Information Element (WPS IE element) update for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is available.

It is a software Intel Wlan (not WLan driver)
You can download it directly from the Intel page and it works since it worked on my laptop too.
