DVD player doesn't work after installing SP3 for Windows XP.

DVD player doesn't work after installing SP3 for Windows XP. That it disappeared from "MY COMPUTER". Device Manager sees it, but there's a yellow exclamation mark over it. See the BIOS of the motherboard and it still works in the BACK. I know SP3 is a collection of updates, but I'm not sure that is my problem. I suspect it's one of the more recent cause I have Windows automatic updates is turned on. Thank you.

Hi, my CD/DVD drive has stopped working after I installed an update for Roxio Burn. Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause strange problems, especially if they're loading of parts of them.
Selves at the start because they will be competing for resources. This does not mean that this problem was caused by
These however is a possibility depending on which and how many you have installed.

Definitel check with the help of Roxio and their forums - you may need to uninstall Roxio to see if this
allows the reader to work (not re - install until the issue is resolved).

    After the foregoing:

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

  • PC will not boot after loading sp3 for Windows xp__

I loaded sp3 for windows xp and now the system does not restart.  He is caught in a loop.  It is now trying continuously restart.  I tried safe mode and it just scrolls the file names and stops.  I tried the last successful reboot option known and that no longer works.

    A. you must have only one 1 antivirus installed and to load at startup. If your McAfee subscription is updated, uninstall AVG & reboot.

    B. then you will need to treat the Norton "remains". Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    C. now try to install SP3 by the following recommendations:

WinXP SP3 - read all the prerequisites for a successful installation

  • My CD/DVD burner does not work after installing Windows 7.

    Hello.

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop (about 2 weeks ago), initially delivered with Windows Vista.

The facility is perfectly, and I enjoyed the simplicity of the new operating system.

Everything was going well for about 2 weeks.

I was able to burn CDs and DVDs.

But today, when my father asked me to burn a CD for him, Windows Media Player 12 says that I had to connect a burner and restart Windows Media Player 12.

I restarted the program, which did not work.

I restarted my computer, that didn't work.

I uninstalled my CD/DVD burner drivers and reinstalled them back on and I thought that WMP12 had started working.

But when I put the blank disc inside my laptop and started the burn, my computer gave me a message there was an error in burning the disc, and I had to close WMP12.

When I got the farm, WMP12 and then tells me to connect a burner and restart the program.

After that, I looked for the drivers online set to level, or to the bottom of the slope to.

    But none of them worked.

After that, I talked with a HP technician who told me that it is better to stick to the pre-installed operating system that comes with a computer and not downgrade or upgrade manually.

She also said that because my computer was made for Windows Vista, it was the compatible operating system for my internal hardware.

It gives me no drivers or anything to install.

I should have come to Microsoft first, because now I realize that HP has nothing to do with Windows 7.

    If Microsoft, I ask you:

When you install Windows 7 on an original Windows Vista laptop and that your CD/DVD writer works for about a week, then it stops working...

What should I do next to fix this? :(

    Please help ~!

    Hey Kyo - San,

Given that the troubleshooter could not see the CD DVD drive, you can try to navigate to the following location in the registry editor and deleted the upper filter and lower filter keys and check if it helps you get the job of CD DVD player.

    1. click on Startand then click all programs.

    2. in the start menu search box type regeditand press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    3. in the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    4. in the right pane, look for UpperFilters and UpperFilter key and select it.
Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters . If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry.

    5. on the Edit menu, click delete.

    6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    7. exit the registry editor.

    8 restart the computer.

Note: Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.

Thanks for the reply and the information updated. Check the link to your model and you will keep. Thre is no specific driver for Windows 10 for this computer for now, but there is a Bluetooth for Windows 8.1 driver.

I could start with the HP Support Assistant, as I mentioned and see if she can find something for you. It is useful to have, as it will seek new pilots as part of its function.  If this does not work for you, then you can try to install the driver Windows 8.1 of the support page.  Broadcom Bluetooth driver

Try to install such what, first and then Bluetooth test. If after the test, you still have trouble with the Bluetooth does not, try the method of this other link I posted on how to install a driver using compatibility mode, and then see if it will work for you.

  • Windows Update or automatic updates no longer work after installing SP3?

Recently I photographed two XP machines. A a Latitude D600 and also an Optiplex 745 with Windows XP SP2. I can deploy SP3 in our process of the image. First run I did. Once installed SP3 updates no longer work. I found this article KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 and tried the suggestions here and FixIt MS, no luck. Then I thought why not try again maybe all the trial and error messed up something. I reimage but this time choose to do not to install SP3 immediately. Once done I run Windows Update and it works, until it installs SP3 then is no longer functions. I tried the above steps once again, no luck. I then leave the PC for 48 hours to see if the automatic updates the shot but they do not have. By other suggestions online I wrote a small batch file that updates several components of Windows Update (dll) which made no difference, and yes I'm in the last WindowsUpdateAgent. Please any help on this would be welcome. We move away XP but we have still a few dozen or more systems deployment running XP and this question slows down my work courses as I spend time troubleshooting instead of being able to finish and move along.

  • DVD player does not work after upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Original title: you stole my DVD player?

    MS,

I bought a HP with Windows 8.0 a couple of years.  At this time, Windows Media Player played drive E: movies very well.  Apparently, the 'free' Windows 8.1 'upgrade' deleted the DVD player.  None of the DVD players free on the App store will play a movie from the drive.  Worse, some of them want a 5 stars before you try to play a disc, then don't play not the DVD at all AND want money for features like an equalizer, this or cela.  Misleading and contemptible, on their role and yours, but I'm sure, not illegal.  I buy a Chevvy, 6 months later in the middle of the night the dealer removes my air conditioner and then offers to sell me an air conditioner.

Please give back me the DVD drive you removed.  (I don't hold my breath however).

    Sincere greetings.

  • McAfee Internet Security doesn't work after may not update Windows

After automatically installing a dozen Windows updates in these last days I noticed that I could access is more of McAfee Internet Security.  Whenever I clicked on its icon, it displays the error: -.

I tried to restore the laptop and McAfee has worked once more.  I then went through the painful process of re - install the updates of Windows one at a time to determine if any of them were the cause of the error.
After having installed and restoring, I finally managed to get all, but it updates to install without the problem of training at McAfee, determining as the next security update will cause the problem experienced: -.
    * Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 (KB2847204). *
In this case, I do not use Internet Explorer 8 at all – I use Google Chrome, but I don't know if McAfee Internet Security uses IE8 somehow for its own purposes of display.
For the moment, I've forced Windows updates not to install KB2847204, but if someone could let me know, a proper fix, that I would be grateful.
    Thank you.

Very well. Your answer tells me that the specific IE9 version of the a Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer published on May 14, 2013 (e.g., KB2829530) was included when you installed IE9 manually.

The version of IE8 specific KB2829530 have been installed. If so, using the system restore to solve your problem (uninstalled vs KB2847204) probably "screwed the dog."

    That being said...

-Online manual installation of IE9 may have included the specific IE9, "defense in depth" version of KB2847204 - especially if it is not available when you run a manual check for updates now.

-Online by definition, Cumulative Internet Explorer security updates [1] include the changes introduced by all the previous updates security (e.g. KB2829530 & KB2847204).

-Online if the next security update is provided & installed via automatic updates (even if IE9 can be turned off) and no problem (with the application of McAfee or something else), all should be well.

=>, It would seem that the IE team has abandoned its policy of about four years of the release of IE Cumulatives every two months so if expect to see the following out on Friday, June 14, 2013 (if not earlier).

PS: even if he can prove that KB2847204 was a "buggy" update, I would never advise anyone to NOT install security updates.
