DVD player on the desktop iMac 2009 will not read the dvd whats the fix

DVD player on the desktop iMac 2009 went to play DVDs on Yosemite.  What is the solution?

The first thing to try is a disc cleaning disc. About US$ 5-15 in most computer, office supplies and electronic. Loading slot discs get pretty dirty and this dirt/dust can interfere with proper disc. The cleaning disc is an inexpensive and simple step that often solves the problem.

  • Workstation XW8000 with XP recognizes the new DVD player but will not read DVDs

I just added a DVD player for my HP xw8000 workstation. It is being prepared to try installing Windows 7. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor says that my machine calls brilliantly... all green. Also, because many new software products are released for MSDN on DVD, it is necessary for me to be able to use this DVD ROM.

I installed the DVD drive is recognized by WinXP Pro with all the latest service packs. Shows up as drive E in Explorer, it appears as a CD ROM In Device Manager it is listed as E - IDE DVD - ROM DVD-8212. However this player will not read a DVD!  I tested the DVD media in another more recent machine and it reads very well in a same DVD ROM.

Is there something wrong with the xw8000 it cannot read from a DVD ROM drive?

    Thanks for any help.

Weird that you receive notifications by email of responses. Usually, this is the default setting. When you type a response, it is usaully a box that is checked to receive notifications by e-mail. (Top right)

I agree, the DVD player seems to be defective. It should work with only Windows drivers. The only additional files that you need would be to play movie discs, etc.

Are your jumpers on both drives positioned same_If the cd drive is jumper as master, the other slave as you. If the other player is cavalier CS (cable select) the dvd player must be linked, CS. I think most of the HP machines are CS. Try that to see if it solves. If this isn't the case, maybe time to try another drive.

  • My dvd player will not read my disk of Windows 8 Pro upgrade

Computer laptop Dell Vostro 1500 with XP Professional, my TSSTcorp L632H DVD player will not read my Windows 8 upgrade disk.

By using Device Manager, when I ask him to fill the volume is the disk CD 0, Type DVD, free media, not applicable Partition Style, capacity, space Unallocate status and placeholder show all 0.

I also tried to use a separate USB TSSTcorp DVD drive and it will not also read the Windows8 disc.

My desktop (Windows, 8, 1) DVD drive Asus computer reads the disc of Windows 8, but I can't use it to load Windows 8 on my laptop - or what I can?

Can I connect my laptop to my desktop to upgrade laptop computer at Windows8 use of the desktop DVD player?

I managed to copy the disc of Windows 8 on an external hard drive using another laptop that can play the DVD.

Then I attached the external hard drive to my laptop and run Setup from there and installed Windows 8 to my old laptop to Windows XP...

    Can anyone help?
Does anyone have information on how to remove these disks of the computer? Im sure I can install a new one myself if I really need to.
Unfortunately the computer is just out of warranty

    Hi Robert,.

Unfortunately, your problem sounds like a problem with the hardware with the optical drive. The player itself must be able to refocus its lenses to switch between DVD and CD formats, and also to pass the pressed DVD and DVD burned.

I suggest you tyre remove the device from the Device Manager Control Panel, then restart your laptop so that the optical drive will be recognized as a new component hardware and Windows will then be re - install with standard drivers etc. If this does not work then it looks like a new drive will be necessary.

Unfortunately you say not what model of laptop you have (the removal procedure is not the same in all cases), but in general if the car is equipped with in-house it is held in place with one or two screws accessible from the bottom of the laptop that should be removed first, then the optical drive can be slid out of its location.

    Kind regards

    Hello, tyINtrouble

The device is listed as a DVD player?

You can check by clicking on start, click computer, and to check the label of the hard drive, he may mention DVD or DVD - RW etc.

You can also check your connections are secure.

If possible, you can try to test the drive in another machine, or another drive in your computer to see if it works properly.

If your hard drive and DVD/CD player are on the same parallel cable connection, it can cause problems as well.

We can't wait to hear back on your part.
