DVD problem after installing Win XP Service Pack 2

After installing XP Service pack2 son of college clicked on a question about activation of WinDVD 5 for Toshiba and now my DVD does not load the program. How can I fix it, remimbering I need help step by step?

WinDVD is the least of your problems: WinXP SP2 should be installed no later than October 10 2006!

If the computer running Windows XP Gold or SP1 until earlier, may not be a critical functional application of antiviruse protection installed and 3 + years of security updates have not been installed.

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

HOW to do a clean install of Windows XP: see method 1 and http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978307

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 [1] needs to be installed).

  • problems after downloading windows xp service pack 3

I recently downloaded service pack 3 on my advent T12. It seemed to download very well and when it restarts automatically he started very well too, but when I tried to restart it then the log on screen did not appear; It started to load as usual and the screen with the windows logo appears, but then after that it was just a black screen, if the computer was still running. I was able to boot in SafeMode ok and took the restore point. After that it restarted again as usual, but I have no sound. I have a device high definition audio C-media. You can hear the sounds system, but nothing about DVD or music files. When I go to Device Manager it isn't even an audio device listed. I tried to download the driver from the microsoft update catalog, but I have no idea what to do with a .cab file once its downloaded. Whenever I restart my computer, looking for a PCI device it says that it cannot find the software. I've downloaded SP3 again and when I do it locates new peripherals - audio on bus high definition audio and successfully downloaded the software and I have her again but am back to the problem of having no log on screen! This time I uninstalled SP 3 in the Panel, and he warned me it would be it would cause a problem with the audio device. So I can SP2 with no sound, but the computer starts very well or SP3 with the sound, but it won't restart. I searched and searched on the internet and on the site of microsoft for some answers, but I'm a loss. Please can anyone suggest a solution? I'm not overwhelmingly technical. Thank you

  • Satellite A100-163: audio problem after installing Win XP - SOLUTION

    Hello

I reinstalled Windows XP on this laptop Toshiba A100-163 and had a little trouble, but the hardest thing was the audio, so I thought I'd post the solution in case anyone else is trying to do!

The drivers supplied by the Toshiba support site did not work. After a bit of research, it seems that the audio drivers are supposed to be integrated into Windows: "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio". But I don't it would work.

The solution was to install XP Service Pack 3!
I didn't not use Windows update, but instead downloaded and installed the "Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT professionals and developers. Then, after a restart, the Hardware Wizard found is come and properly installed audio drivers.

  • Satellite 2210CDT: two problems after installing Win XP

Hello! Maby it sounds funny but I found Toshiba Satellite 2210CDT inside my closet, installed Windows XP (oem supplied with the mouse, I bought some time ago) and it works!
The only problems I have are:
    * When the system is in hibernation, it is impossible to 'wake up' (I remmember in Win98 in this laptop there is problem);
    * I don't really have the tools provided with Win98 came with the laptop (ie.battery status and so...)

    Appreciate the help, Mike

PS sorry if I post in a bad place in the forum, but this is my first post (I hope you can understend...)

    Hello

Satellite 2210CDT is an ancient and you should be lucky that Windows XP runs on you laptop.
But this unit has been designed and delivered before the era Windows XP started.
I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and there is no drivers for Windows XP. I found drivers only for W2k and Win98.
Unfortunately, if you use the Win XP on your laptop you must do without drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities.

I found a utility to do Hibernation for Win98 on the Toshiba site. I think that this is a utility that is important to use the hibernation mode. But as I said, it is available for Win98.

  • Problems after installation with XP Service Pack 3 (screen please wait too long)

After the automatic updates is ready to install and upgrade to SP3 of XP SP2, I have selected only quick installation and the installation progress. For a few minutes, everything seemed perfect, and I could see "Validating license... blah blah components loading... create restore point etc..". And after that, I was responsible for "System restart" I did. And then, the system displays a black screen of "Windows XP" showing "Please wait...". "and the screen is left as it is around 6-7 hours and the 256 Kbps, the internet was still on. After that, I wake up, find the same on the screen and close by the computer strength.

After the reboot, I've seen the system configuration of Windows XP Professional SP2 to SP3. And one of my theme request then said that "he delivered a fall has resorted to previous settings.

So, is my Windows corrupted, or incomplete installation? How will I know that the installation is successful? Please guide.

    Thank you

    Hi xploreaj,

I noticed that often happens when a system has something like Norton or McAfee installed and that it has not been disabled prior to installation of the SP3.  If you encounter any other problems, then it is reasonable to assume that everything is ok.  However, you can also scan your system with Malwarebytes to see if there is no infections present which your current AV software has not picked up on. (how to use Malwarebytes: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/how-to-use-malwarebytes-anti-malware-tutorial).

  • Some problems after installing Win 2003 Enterprise on Satellite L310-4012

    Hi friends

I have a laptop L310-4012 and trying hard to install Windows 2003 Enterprise on this subject.
Went through many articles and has even had a long discussion with Customer Support on this one, where it was stated that they do not support Server 2003.

I did most of the installation on my own and most things work except for fingerprint and SD card. Have tried many things but I am not able to use it.

Apart from that, I see unusual things happening as

    1. I'm not able to close down the machine after uisng camera. If I don't use camera, it works fine
2 CTRL + ALT + DELETE. The task manager has grayed out
3 seems as if the laptop doesn't work that fast.

Need your help guys to decide as to whether I should use windows 2003 or not

    Ritesh

    Hello

I m wondering that you have installed Windows Server 2003 on a laptop. Why do you need a server on a laptop OS?

However, maybe I can help you:

    (1) If you have used the web cam, the software is already started and you should see an icon in the taskbar. Right click on that and close the software. Then you should be able to stop the laptop.

    (2) what you mean with gray? You can also start the Task Manager, if you right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.
But I believe that there is something wrong with the operating system. Normally this has nothing to do with the laptop or the hardware.

    (3) have you installed the chipset driver? I think the reason for this is why Server is not supported on mobile phones, and therefore you can t find drivers.

If you really need this OS to test something that I would install on VMware or Microsoft Virutal PC. On a virtual machine, you must not install any driver.

  • Hi, after installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 Firefox is no longer travels. I have not found server.

Gateway view traffic in and out. Windows and norton firewall
are temporarily disabled but no effect. Any help greatly appreciated

If ping works, then it means that the connection is OK.

So there seems to be other (routing) problems with the network configuration.

Have you checked the setting of the connection and the setting in your security software (firewall)?

It works if you start the computer in SafeMode (F8 at the startup screen), with if necessary network support?

Original title: problem after installing Windows Service Pack 3 on Windows XP Home Media edition pc

My pc runs Windows XP Home Media edition.  I installed Windows Service Pack 3 successfully, or so I thought. Whenever I turn on my pc a box opens indicating "files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions."  To maintain the stability of the system.  Windows must restore the original versions of these files.  Install your Windows XP Professional CD2.  I don't have any Windows XP Professional CD that I use the Home Media Edition. If I press Cancel repeatedly, the window disappears to return with the same information, but ask me to install Windows XP Professional CD3.  How can I stop this happening?

    Hello

Step 1: I suggest you perform the SFC scan on the computer and check.

SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    3. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

Microsoft Fix - It ran... computer & rebooted... closed repeatedly...

    Problem persists... Help!

    Lane

It is a common problem with updates of .NET. Here are the steps I follow

    First try this...

Download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool , then visit Windows Update and let it try to reinstall updates. Once it's done, scan again with Windows Update to ensure that they properly installed.

If the above does not make it...

Open Add or remove programs, click on .NET 3.5 and choose repair. I got around to test if this fix actually .NET 2.0 and 3.0 of the .NET also, but it's worth it. I do not know if it can also cancel updates already installed .NET. If so, they will reinstall when you perform a Windows update that is the next step after the repair.

If the repair does not fix it, will add and remove programs and uninstall the .NET Framework 3.5, 2.0, then 3.0.
Visit Windows Update, select Custom scan and under software, optional install this...

It must be installed by itself. Windows Update will not let you do otherwise.

When he did install (I forgot if she asks for a restart or what not), scan again and all updates for .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 of the .NET .NET must appear. Choose to install.
A new analysis to ensure that they properly installed.

If all goes well, that will solve the problems you face.
