  Hi Rickski, I've changed the discs on the a120 so many times I'm sure I could do it in the dark eyes bandaged, it's really easy and it only takes a few minutes.

  I m not 100% sure on the CD/DVD drive replacement on this laptop, but I assume that the procedure is very similar to other portable players.
  For the most part the ODD is secured with the screw at the bottom of the unit.
  You will need to remove this screw to get out and to swap the drive.

  But be careful and don t there if you have no experience!
  Moreover, not all readers are compatible and supported in reason parameters master/slave/c-salt. If you n t know which drives are compatible you should ask the ASP in your country for advice!

• New installation CD-ROM/DVD-rom on Satellite 4030

  I replaced the cd rom on my 4030CDT with a generic DVD/Cd-RW (it's a TSST) and I am running XP (a little).
  The DVD works fine in windows, but I can't boot from the CD more as the machine does not seem to recognize the DVD/cd rom when starting.

  Can anyone suggest how I can get the machine to recognize before loading windows.
  I want to switch to xubuntu and have the disc but can not start. I guess I could replace the old cd rom but this is a last resort.

  Or maybe the BIOS recognizes the drive CD/DVD correctly, but the recovery CD is not fully compatible with the new inserted CD/DVD player?

• Can not use the output TV on Satellite A40 - 151 Win XP

  I'm going nuts. I have read forums for 2 days and I still can't my TV-out to work. My connection is S-video cable ends. I do not know my TV (LCD BRAVIA) see some signal because the connection symbol in the corner when I use FN + F5 on the laptop, but all I can get is a black screen and nothing else. I changed all the settings in several different configs, but I can't get any kind of picture in any quality.

  Please choose the right channel on your BRAVIA TV. I have the same TV and I tested it with my old Tecra connected with the S-video cable. It works perfectly. The only thing you need to do is to choose the TV S-video channel.

  On the remote, there is small button placed above the key with the number 3.

  I can confirm KD08 Pioneer and Panasonic UJ - 850 FWv1.10 are _not_ compatible, this last, I can't find any firmware for (trying to swap master / slave settings)... (Don't want to mess with the pioneer)

  I think the Ref. TOSHIBA DVD-RW/CD-RW COMBO SD-R6112 is compatible, if anyone can confirm this?

  I have an old laptop of my father (purchased in 2003). I clean the laptop to use it for surfing the Internet.
  Unfortunately, I noticed that the CD DVD rom (with signature of driver of Aplix Corpation) doesnot read the Cd or DVd.

  2 questions.

  1 can someone help me with troubleshooting?
  -J' already checked the Device Manager and the device SCSI DVD Rom SCSI Cd rom works / is enabled;
  -Tried it lot the driver (version 5.1.2535.0 Microsoft), but it does not;
  -He begins to read a Cd/Dvd (blinks) but I still don't see a drive mapping;
  -In the management of the computer the CD-ROM (Dvd - rom) doesnot appear;

  2. has tried to remove the DVD CD Rom of the computer laptop but cannot get 'live', who still holds the DVD CD rom on its place.

  I assume that you have installed Win XP on this oldi.
  Win XP and other systems such as Win Vista or Win 7 use the Microsoft CD/DVD driver and a STRANGE special drivers is therefore not necessary.
  The ODD (optical disc) must be recognized by Win XP automatically without installation of any other drivers driver update is not necessary.

  I recommend the removal of the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager, and then remove the upper and lower registry filters.
