DVD writer is recognized but cannot burn files

I am working on a friends computer and had to do a restore point to fix another problem.  After the restore point, everything works except the DVD/CD burner.  I can install a blank DVD or CD and Windows recognizes it and says I need to format it.  I have format it and give it a name and he accepts it. I put this drive on another computer, and it displays the name, I gave and I can use the disc in another computer.  I put the disc into his computer and it shows the disc with the name I gave to him, but I can't copy all of the files for it.  It does not show the ability to burn files when I select the files and if I try to copy or drag them to the DVD writer, nothing happens.  Paste function is grayed out when I select the DVD burner.  I can read files off other disks.  I tried to uninstall the DVD/CD player and reinstall the driver.  I uninstalled the IDE controller and reinstalled the driver.  Nothing seems to fix this.  The computer is an HP Pavilion Slimline s3200t with a built-in DVD/CD burner model HL-DT-ST DVD - RW GSA-H60L.  It runs Windows Vista Edition Home Premium with Service Pack 2. This drive was working properly before using the Restore Point.  I have not found any similar to this problem in the help forums.  Help, please.  Thank you.

Work Yes, but does not properly. Visit the forums to Evan and try the above methods
as sometimes running across these kick will begin a CD/DVD to work properly. As I said
a CD/DVD is 4 disks 1 and one or several parts can fail separately from the rest.

Have you recently added any software CD/DVD? What antivirus/antispyware/securiy programs have
NEVER been on the system - these and the remains of those installed since may cause strange problems.

Maybe a kind of corruption of the system:

Follow these steps to remove corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

Run DiskCleanup - start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Start - type in the search box - find command top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

  • Equium L20-264: CD/DVD player can read but not burn discs

    Hi all

I need help. My laptop cd/dvd driver does not recognize the discs inside. It only happens when I try to burn a disc. She can read but not burn the discs. What could be the solution? I tried different brands, the last time it was Maxell. The manual suggests Mitsubishi discs, but I'm not sure that it only works with the Mitsubishi discs. It can read any kind of disc.

So I'm in trouble, please help.

    Hello

In the manual, you will find a list of media recommended because this media has been tested and were working properly.
However, I use TDK CDs and DVDs and it works as well.
Juan suggested in another ad that sometimes 3rd applications or DVD copy locks are responsible for some driver problems:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=12497

What I mean is that it is not easy to give a generally the solution of these problems.
You should try different media, burning software and if it doesn t work so it s is a malfunction of the equipment. In this case, you will need to replace the drive.

  • Cannot burn files to CD/DVD more? (Windows 7)

This problem is everywhere on the internet but I have yet to see a solution that is tailored for someone else to do a system restore that is not an option. I burned the files on my internal drive by dragging and dropping them in the folder to the blank disc, then click on burn. A few months ago I went through the process as usual (insert a blank disc, he asks what I want to do and I choose to burn cd, it opens the folder to the blank disc) but when I went to drag and drop the files in the folder to the blank disc, nothing happened. I dragged and when I released in fall, they do not appear in the burn list.

    (1) I tried to use Windows Media Player instead, and I couldn't also do drag or drop files in the burn list here.
    (2) I tried selecting the files, then click on burn instead of drag, and they still do not appear in the burn list.
    (3) I got our admin check user for burning strategies and burning has been activated. We disabled and then enabled again just in case and still no difference.
    (4) I have not download or install something new on the computer or bring other changes to this computer before what is happening and neither did my admin, there may be something that we did it. The only changes that the computer would be crossed before that happens are automatic updates of windows.
    (5) it is not the disks. It does not work with the same discs I have always used so I tried six different other, different brands, and the behavior is the same only they are all burned fine on other computers. It also does not matter if I am on CD or DVD.
    (6) it is not the drive. When my admin logged into his account on my computer, he was able to drag and drop and burn as usual it seems there is something to do with my profile specifically.
    Any suggestions?

  • Re: Satellite A200 - DVD player can read but cannot write

    Hello

Some time ago my DVD writter has stopped working. I have Windows 7 with the latest toshiba drivers.

The DVD is very good playback of the inserted cd/dvd, the unit is OK in Device Manager, but when you write a DVD it fails somewhere over 50% with "unknown error."

I tried Nero and standard windows app.

    What do you recommend?

    Hello

Did you test different DVD from different manufacturers?
I had a similar problem in the past and since I use TDK R DVDs and CDs and these discs work correctly.

I also recommend cleaning the DVD player with alkohole laser lens and the tip of the batting.

  • Satellite P20: Device DVD Player reads only the DVD but cannot burn CD & DVD

    Hello

I have a toshiba P20, and I'm having a lot of problems with it. One of them is my DVD UJ811. I don't really know what is happening, the drive was already replaced and a few weeks later, it was exactly like the front, and the service provider made me pay almost 70EUR for a budget of 400EUR rejected.

I would like to know what really should do, I can't read the CD and I can not burn CD/DVDs, I can just read DVDs, nothing else.

I have seen some forums on the net, too many people in the world has the same problem I have and I really need to know what is the best solution for me.
    Thank you

    Hello Rafael

I'm very surprised by your post it here because I've used Satellite P20-303 (a red) about two years. Laptop is now used by my brother and it works perfectly. I don't really know what problems you have, but I never noticed anything suspicious. Up to now I removed the cooling Grill on the bottom twice to clean the unit, and that's all. After that laptop computer cleanup runs a lot more quiet then before.

Back to ad: I have to be honest and say that I traded with TEAC DV - W22E DVD - rom. original drive was DVD - RW and TEAC DV-W22E DVD-RAM. My brother use it pretty extensively, but until now there is no problem at all.

I don't really know what the service is doing, but if possible replace the drive TEAC one. I can tell you with certainty, it works very well. Moreover, according to the description of your problem, I am sure that the drive is faulty.
You can replace one. It's very simple to do.

  • 2012 NAS server set full control for the Admin user, but cannot add files

Hi, I'm new on using Server 2012 (or any server operating system). I created a shared folder by using the files and storage, quick profile SMB services. I set the administrator with full access account. I added also a group of users with reading and only execute permissions, the administrator account is not within the group.

I have the drive mapped to my desktop running Windows 7 Home. I use administrator credentials to log on. I try to add files through the mapped drive, but does not have my permission to create or copy files ("you have authorized to perform this action"). I can't that speculate that the problem is caused by the run as account on my desktop do not match those of the server? Any suggestions on fixing this problem?

Note: I created a separate administrator account and a group on the server with a control total and still not able to add or modify files on the network drive,

    Hello

-Have there been recent changes made on the computer before the show?

If you have 64-bit Windows, please follow these instructions to install plug-ins in Photoshop:

    If you use Photoshop CS4 - CS6 64-bit on Windows 64-bit:

    a. copy the files with the ending _64.8bf in the plug-in folder of Photoshop CS4 - CS6. For example, to add the coloring plugin for Photoshop CS5:

    b. copy Coloriage_64.8bf into the corresponding folder C:\Program Files (x 86) \AKVIS\Coloriage in the Photoshop Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) \Plug-ins\

    c. then re - open Photoshop and check how the plugin works.

    If you use Photoshop CS4 - CS6 32-bit on Windows 64-bit:

    a. copy the files with the .8bf ending in the plug-in folder of Photoshop CS4 - CS6.

    For example, Coloriage.8bf to the folder C:\Program Files (x 86) \AKVIS\Coloriage corresponding to the Photoshop Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Plug-ins\

    b. then re - open Photoshop and check how the plugin works.

Note: If you set the additional Plug-ins folder in Photoshop (using the command Edit-> preferences-> Plug-Ins), to add the path to a folder with plug-ins in Photoshop 32-bit on Windows 64-bit, you can get an error from Photoshop, it does not know this kind of file. Happens if the record contains a plug-in 64-bit. Photoshop 32 bit try to download, but may not recognise.

To remove this error message just remove the 64-bit file in the folder used as the additional Plug-ins folder in Photoshop preferences. If you are using Photoshop 32 bit you need not file 64-bit.

For more information, see the links.

  • External hard drive is recognized but cannot see the content

My external hard drive PX1393E - 2 32 is identified as removable media, if I connect it with my laptop. But there is no possibility of access. Size is shown as '0' and you can't see the content.

I work with Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1. I tried to use the hard drive with a second computer (also Vista): same problem. If I connect the hard drive with a laptop that works with XP, I can see and use all my data.

Drivers and the operating system are the last level.

    Does anyone know a solution?

(I ask forgiveness because of my bad English.)

    Hello

You can see the size of the HARD disk in disk management?

Normally the external HARD drive should also work on Vista if it works properly on your XP computer.
You use different cables? Maybe you should try other on Vista laptop.

In addition, I would recommend formatting the HARD drive again. It's maybe something s wrong with the structure of the partition.

I have a problem with my DVD/CD drive, I can't burn files more. My CARPET * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S can always install things of CD and erase DVD/cd but I can't burn more.
Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

    cordially Egbert

To me, it seems that the lens of the drive can not calibrate correctly
The bed or write drive before the middle of the lens is calibrated in the right position.
If it fails, the drive is not able to manage the CD or the DVD.

Usually nothing help to wait for disc replacement

Oh wait maybe a cleaning the lens help
You can try to clean the lens. You can use a lint cloth
