• BIOS DOES NOT SEE ANY SATA HARD DRIVES

  I recently (about three weeks) ago added a 250 GB Samsung SSD EVO 840 to my desktop HP Pavilion a6437C PC 2008.

  This SSD has been configured with a clean install of Windows XP.

  The original 500 GB HARD drive (on which I kept the original, fully functional installation of XP on one partition and all my data on another), was retained and was used primarily for the storage of data... even if I left the XP partition instead of use as a backup OS.

  Once I have everything configured, up and running, both drives worked fine in their assigned duties for at least two weeks.

  The PC is on when I left the House earlier today.  I came home and the power of the PC was turned off (I don't know if there was a power failure or other event).  When I turned on the rear PC, I got the dreaded "Disk Boot Failure" message.  Restarted, press F10 to view the BIOS, and I noticed that only two CD/DVD drives have been detected.  Ni the SSD or HARD drive have been detected.  A ran Diagnostics PC - Doctor F9 and got BIOHD-2 (no drive detected)... what I already knew.

  I've been Googling vigorously, and my guess is that, since the TWO discs are not recognized, and the problem that manifests all of a sudden, the problem lies with the SATA controller or motherboard itself.  I think that it's extremely likely that both discs would fail completely and at the same time. Can anyone suggest what I could take so I can verify or disprove this?  Also, it's an old PC so it prob'ly is not worth starting to replace the mobo... is possible to replace just the SATA controller (assuming that it is the culprit)?

  Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and get a new job.  I discovered that I can't use many of the features of my new SSD fancy, because the material a6437c and firmware doesn't support them.

  Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.  Thanks in advance!

  Laiki, welcome to the forum.

  You did a very nice job of explaining your situation; nothing left out.

  Because the computer is older, I go to this from a different angle.  I recommend that you check the power supply (PSU) to see if it has failed, because the computer turns off for no apparent reason.  If there is no power to the system, you will not get a boot.  The power supply can cause many problems we don't necessarily attach to it.  Here's a guide to help you troubleshoot it.

• 5.1 ESXi does not see any number of logical unit after restarting both MD3220 and R820

  We restarted our host R820 ESXi 5.1 and table connected to SAS MD3220.  After the reboot, the HBA on ESXi shows no device.  We turned on the MD3220.  WAITED 5 minutes before feeding the R820.

  FYI... the complete Setup includes two R820 connected to two MD3220 through SAS.  The two R820 cannot see all devices on two HBAs after reboot.  We have redundant RAID controllers on the MD3220s and redundant HBA on the R820s.

  On the MD3220, the status of host interface ports appears.

  We found the problem.  On the MD3220s, we noticed some "unidentified host identifiers.  For a reason unknown to us, the host port identifiers changed after turning power off and power on all R820s and MD3220s.  To resolve this problem, we replaced the identifiers.  It seems that someone swapped the SAS cables.  I don't think that someone made.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.

  There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

  If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  If this isn't the case, then you should first update the BIOS!

  The latest version of the BIOS is on the European driver Toshiba page and it can be modified running Windows OS.
  As far as I know, you must use 2.5 or later version BIOS.

• RALink RT3290 does not "see" the 5 GHz networks (802.11n)

  I just bought a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC (number of product F9M00UAR #ABA) with victory 8.1 x 64 installed and the wireless card does not 'see' any 802.11n networks.  The driver installed is 5.0.37.0 with a date of 25/11/2013.

  I've seen problems with upgrades to 8.1 affecting the adapter, but nothing works not properly out of the box on a new machine from 8.1 to WIN.  Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to force it to see 802.11n?

  The WLAN RT3290 card is only a single band (2.4 GHz).  He can not find the 5.0 GHz band.

• Power mac g4 does not recognize the DVD/CD drive.  It has worked very well in Leapard

  I just newly installed Tiger on my PowerMac G4, and now it does not recognize the DVD/CD drive.  I did all the updates and it does not see the DVD in the DVD drive.  It works perfectly before a new clean install DVD of the Tiger.

  Hi Ciroamos,

  I understand that you're having trouble to open a document Pages 5.6.1 on your MacBook Pro.  Have you recently updated or changed on demand?  Have you tried to open a Pages document on icloud drive, in addition to your computer? One thing I would try is to use Time Machine and go back to an earlier date and see if you can open a document.  If you can't, then you must uninstall the application Pages and re-download from the Mac App Store.
