E10 strange clicking

E10 for over a year now and I've noticed a strange intermintant fast by clicking on, someone had the same noise and if yes what is it?

Hello

Did you think the disk by clicking on?
Did you hear it for the activities of HDD, backup of data, for example?
If it is that a HARD drive, so be careful. You should always make a backup of your data since this strange noise could be a headcrash

  • Rattling Equium A100-007

I have an Equium A100-007 (there don't seem to be many positions directly related to this model) that I bought in April 2007. I'm running Ubuntu 7.10, which normally works very well. But, sometimes, I'm a clock strange clicking sound coming under the keyboard near the upper right speaker, when this happens, the system freezes and the only way I can back to work is to turn it off with the switch.

I have not found something strange in the system logs and my sessions of firefox (and others) restorable after reboot without problem. It happens more or less at random, but is perhaps more likely when I download something, or watch a dvd, but it seems not directly related to have many applications running. It's happened a couple of times a week lately (but I have my laptop on almost all day every day), even if it has occurred previously. The temp runs between 45 - 51º C... I think it's a little warmer than before.

I can't find anything on this problem in any thread. And I don't know if it's a hardware or OS problem.
I would be very grateful for any advice on troubleshooting or resolution of this problem.

It is not easy to say what the problem may be here on this forum, we can only speculate on the possible reasons for this. Try to do some tests to see what this trigger occurs. Try to play MP3 and see if the click comes from speaker directly (without optical drive running).

Also try DVD movie playback, but without the sound to see if this clicking noise has something to do with optical drive running. Sorry, but it's really not easy to say what can be the problem. You can also ask for professional help and contact the nearest authorized service.

  • Drive hard/warranty Questions

I got a 2000 HP Notebook PC for Christmas, so he was not yet a year. The other day he started making strange clicking noises and I googled the cause finding that most people thought it would be the fan or the hard drive. Shortly after, it froze and the screen went black says:
    Not found boot device
Please install an operating system on your hard drive.
    Hard drive - (3F0)
Then I did the memory test that happened. I went to Hard Drive check that came back as:
    INTELLIGENT control: Not installed
    Long DST: not installed
While this means? Is my hard drive broken? Is there anything else I can do?
And if my hard drive is broken is this covered by my warranty? I had the laptop for less than a year and the guarantee that comes with it says 1y1y0y, which means 1 year parts and 1 year labor no on-site service. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hello

Looks like you may have a failing hard drive. Try to update your product Web site system BIOS then perform a hard reset and try to rerun the test pressing F2 to turn on/off.

    To perform a hard reset

Shut down the computer by going to the menu start and select shut down. (If you have no display, hold the button for 5 seconds); (if the computer don't market, go to the next step)
Unplug the adapter from the laptop.
Remove the battery from the bottom of the laptop. There will be a switch/battery eject button.
Wait at least 1 minute with all sources of power disconnected.
Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter, and then try to turn on the laptop.

If the laptop is under warranty, you can order the new HDD replacement & recovery disks to reinstall the operating system to the factory settings, for free.

If you have completed the recovery of HP recovery disks manager in your system, you can go ordering him to come.

You must write the ID of the failure of 24 characters if test hard drive fails again & contact HP in your area.

  • On Qosmio G10 106 HARD drive failure

I have a G10-106 and you had for about 18 months. About 6 weeks ago, one of the hard drives began to fail - asked checkdisk all the time, and found errors. I have saved and replaced it with my old 40 GB of old toshiba laptop hard drive.

Yesterday the computer started making strange clicking noises and I assumed it was the fan. Today it is squeal - sounded like a drill. I had checked it by a friend who fixes PC and he said all seemed well and it was a little more quiet - no screeching.
2 hours later, it seems that the d drive disappeared. I used an adapter and tried to read it in a desktop computer, but it cannot be found.

Surely if he failed he would always see as a disc? Also is there a way to recover my files? I had everything backed up on this 2nd disk and am now feeling so depressed as it seems that everything has been lost or destroyed. I don't know what to do now.
Anyone else had problems with hard drives?

I think buying a new laptop. My last laptop broke after 2 years with graphics and remedial failure could not be a part.

    Hello

I had HARD drive problem on my old 1900 satellite. One day, that the HARD drive had died suddenly. I wasn't able to boot up the laptop, even in safe mode. The HARD drive makes strange as noise running the Defragmenter tool. Connecting as external HDD on my second phone it was the same situation.

Autour Googling, I found an interesting also called HDD Regenerator. He found many bad sectors on the HARD disk. If you want to try to do the same thing. I hope that you will be able to start HDD Regenerator because in my case, it was not able until I've erased the two partitions using partition magic.

  • Satellite A350-13D PSAL6E; sound rattles

    Hello

My Satellite A350-13D (bought in July ' 09) makes a strange clicking off the speakers sound.
It is intermittent and it looks static interference or when the HARD drive is reading or writing. Someone at - it an idea before I go make return to the workshop for repair (maye a new driver/bios?)

    Thank you
    John

    Hello

Hmm. Pensiez_ you that the HARD disk emits the sound treble?
That s wired because it would mean something would be well wrung out with HARD drive and this means that you should backup your data if you have important files on the HARD drive. In the worst cases could die your HARD drive and you will lose all data on the HARD drive

  • Microphone of international satellite A355-S69403 does not

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A355-S69403.
When I try to use the internal microphone located at the top of the lid in the open (side) position, it will not work.

I tried to do activities such as talking with friends on MSN Messenger.
I tried to use the speech recognition program that came with my laptop, I tried to use accessibility in control whether Panel if my microphone is the problem.

When talking with my friends that they could see talk me on the webcam, but no noise near my voice was detected, instead they compared to alien-strange noises, because it makes strange clicking noises and others.
When I was with the sound recorder I heard the same thing, there is no interference of background noise or anything, it just clicks and sounds very restless and strange.

    Help, please

    Hello

The internal MIC is part of the webcam.
First, I think you should check if you can update the software of the webcam and the audio driver.
Satellite A355-S69403 is a Toshiba model that drivers should be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page we

I'm not sure if this will help, but I had some problems of its due to the WiFi.
The sound was choppy, and I got some interference.
After the update of the WLan driver, everything was ok.

When I restarted it, it wouldn't load so I turned off and it took me to the recovery.

When the recovery was finished it restarts again and began to start, but after a few seconds he projected blue. I tried safe mode. Nothing. I went back to recovery and he told me that the recovery did not work.

I don't know why it crashed because I hadn't let fall or hit it.
I remember him making this clicking sound weird, as he would be repeatedly click 8 times rapidly and then stop for a second and start over.

I don't know what the problem with it?

    Hello

    > I remember making this weird clicking sound, as he would be repeatedly click 8 times rapidly and then stop for a second and start over.
This sounds like a HARD drive problem, and I think that HARD drive crashes while it causes this strange clicking noise.

In your case, I would check the HARD drive by using a special diagnostic as Drive Fitness Test tool. use Google to find this tool or another. It s freeware and easy to use. If you download the iso image, it creates a boot disk where you can start this test of.

Alternative, you can try the Toshiba recovery disc. Normally, the recovery disk still works.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate computer seems to have stopped, head HD not seeking chkdsk errors

Last week, I look at a the news on Youtube.  Turned away from the computer, came back and heard a strange clicking noise.  I listened closer and could hear the hard drive heads look back.  It sounded as if the head arm was moving inside the trays and then swing to the outside several times.

Click on the reset button and the computer would not start, error says no bootable disk found.  Turned off the computer, went to retrieve another new drive and create a bootable stick from my WHS server.  Come back I would try once more thought, and the started computer.  A ran Chkdsk with the option of scanning and repair bad sectors.  He found a no mistake.  A few days later the computer slowed to almost a complete stop, (non-response) error in the program I was using (Firefox).  A ran chkdsk once more on the C drive and found 24 index who needed compensation, but that it has been.

It is an i7 2600K cpu @ 3.40 ghz 3.39 Ghz, 16 GB ram, and two 3.5 "HGST (Hitachi/Western Digital) drive 500 GB which is about 5 years old now.

Even if Chkdsk reports no errors, I always suspect that the drive has failed.  As I looked at the scan of glomeruli that it suspended or 20 seconds in two places.  First to around 1100 groups then back to 14 000 clusters.

I have a new Seagate drive custom quality company.  The chkdsk seems to mitigate the problems, but I know now that I'm running on a ragged edge and she will soon be a serious failure.

I suspect it's the same story horror IBM-Hitachi again.  Readers are not mounted tight, there is a lot of space around them.  I don't think overheating is the problem.

    Your contribution is appreciated.

    Hi Donald,.

Please answer these questions to better understand the issue.

    1. What is Windows 7 connected to Windows Home Server?
    2. Is the computer on the domain or server network?

You can deal with this problem due to the hardware failure.  Looks like a bad impact on the hard drive. If it is under warranty, save and send it for repair. (If the computer is under warranty, send it - withdrawal of the drive will void the warranty.) If it is not under warranty, reinstall the drive (after saving).

Make sure you do, save it before he gets defective.

There are two hard disk problem physical and non-physical. If your hard drive sound like it, its may damage on your hard drive. First of all, you should be do is keep and back up your data and then remove those hard with the new drive. Do not use again this type of hard drive that will cause the problem in the future.

Follow the steps in this Microsoft KB article and check if that helps:

  • Re: Click on Satellite A300 - noisy HARD drive - strange of sound while booting

    Hi all

I'm new and I would try to solve some problems with my new laptop * SATELLITE A300-1MZ * (with Vista) and * its hard disk * (a MHZ250BH of Fj-simens).

I noticed that he is very mechanical in the normal conditions of use, in fact, when I turn on my computer, I hear a clear rattling and his mechanic from the HDD at different times also when there should be no disk activity.
    * Particularlly every 3-5 seconds * I hear a very strange noise as a small but very distinguible mechanic "CLAC" (is not refer to number of cycle ordefrag or indexing workload). Ditto on my ubuntu LINUX distro.
    However the phone never crashes

_It first start Appareed and it's very noise_.
I would ask if this is normal... It appeared regardless of the AC or battery power source.

I just make a SMART software which is no problem, but I'm very worried about this problem.
By phone, I just say all this to the center of Toshiba in my country, but for them all right. The laptop works ok.

Not to mention that I found that * HDD * becomes * hot * also if there are no programs or processes that use it.
He begins to 29a ° - 31Â ° and it gets hot with normal use (35 ° - 36Â ° after finished booting and after 30-40 min temperature is become more warm-42a ° - 46Â °, when its average temperature is ° - 48Â ° 46a - imagine if I turn for example a virus scan or a very hot video coding software-It to become: 50a ° - 55Â °.) (I try always not to overcome this final temperature). What is the maximum?

    * I hope you can give me an explanation to the problem.*
    * I ask if this is a problem common to other A300 owners.*

For my personal reflection, that noise, it is very distinguible for a cooler quiet fan system (infact my dual core is 43a ° with normal use)
Infact I would like to find a system to enable more cool fan (I have just seen in the bios and utilities from Toshiba but found nothing to that effect)

Finally, I would like to know if the * battery time * 1h30mins (with the symmetric mode) is acceptable for a new laptop (with save mode is 1h40mins max).
    * I hope your support and I apologize for my language school *.

    Thanks y'alls.

    Hello

I think that it s nothing wrong with your HARD drive.
I have two cell phones and a PS3 at home.
The HARD drive in a laptop made similar clicking sound. In addition, I noticed the same sound in the PS3. Since the upgrade to 500GB drive HARD makes the similar sound as the HARD drive in my notebook.
I think that it s nothing wrong with the HARD drive and eventually it s nothing serious.

    > Finally, I would like to know if the battery of 1h30mins (with the symmetric mode) is acceptable for a new laptop (with save mode is 1h40mins max).
Battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
The battery lasts a shorter time when to implement applications performance on the laptop. Also if the brightness of the display is set to the highest level, the battery needed to dump a lot more quickly.
So I think 1.30 min is OK for the laptop. Of course, you can buy a stronger battery in order to use the laptop longer with battery power.

  • strange repetitive clicking TouchSmart 520xt sometimes

In the last month, my 15 months, HP Touchsmart 520xt all-in-One 23 "began to make strange noises.

    64-bit Win7 Home Premium

You know when your system is switched mode 'sleep', so when you touch the mouse to wake up the system, first of all, you hear a click, then hard drive starts and the display shows again.

It's this click I hear now, but sometimes while I use the PC.  It's looks like it's going through a cycle of restarting click, click, click break click on break for about 20 or 30 seconds.  Usually no other significant impact, but last week after a few cycles of rattling, the system went to a blue-screen-of-death (OMG I've not seen that since my old XT machine) with a message on the system stopped to protect themselves.

    Any suggestions?

    Hey PCfamilyguru,

I'm sorry that you run on this issue. It seems that the hard drive may be on its way. I would say first of all, you back up important files on a flash drive or an external hard drive. The most reliable method is to copy and paste from C:\ for external disk, rather than the backup software.

Here is a video demo of the sound that you can hear as well as an explanation. A click occurs at 04:28. If the sound is similar to this, you can run a test drive of the HP System Diagnostics.

    1. Turn off the computer.

  • Strange things happening: opening on their own programs, mouse clicks things I click...

I had some strange problems on my Windows Vista laptop. He just started acting today. This time, I tried all sorts of scans, cleanings, controls problem, but nothing helped.

It is quite difficult to describe, but basically the computer seems to act as if the mouse is which is clicked when I even touch it not. Thus, for example, then I click on the start menu or right click to bring up a menu drop down, it flashes briefly upward but then disappears. Or I run an application, and a box pops up saying: 'Are you sure you want to close this program' when I have not pressed on what. In Excel, I try to type something in a cell, but before I finished typing the text disappears (exactly the same happens when I type an address in the web browser). Sometimes a window will close only on its own.

This is not the case all the time and even when it happens that I can still do a lot of normal stuff on the computer. But once it flows in the it does not seem to worsen progressively. Then, when it becomes too much and I have to restart the computer once it has restarted, it starts to get really loud constant beep, and I have to press F8 a few times to stop the ringing and bring up this menu of options (safe mode, etc.).

I'm not particularly computer literature and have exhausted all avenues, I know that to solve the problems. There is no reference to this problem in other messages of the forum here. Any help would be much appreciated.

My laptop has a touchpad, but I use a wired mouse. (And Yes, I tried a different mouse, the problem persists)

(P.S. not sure I posted this in the right part of the forum. Please let me know if I would be better to post elsewhere)

    Hi ComputerNerdDJMJ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities.

I understand how it could be frustrating when things do not work as expected. Please, I beg you, don't worry I'll try my best to resolve the issue.

Until we start troubleshooting on this issue please provides us with additional information by answering a few questions below, this will help us better solutions to the problems.

    1. have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

I suggest you follow the steps; It will help you solve the problem.

Method 1: your computer in a clean boot state and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 2: Mouse, touchpad and keyboard under Windows problems: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/mouse-touchpad-and-keyboard-problems-in-windows?T1=tab05

Method 3: Also scan your computer from the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Please follow these recommended steps and post if you still experience the problem.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Mouse click strange focus bug - Office steals focus?

    Hello!

I have a bug very strange, not so easy to explain.

Sometimes, when I click on a window he will LOSE focus and therefore each click will make any update to the point of losing application.
The only way to give a keyboard app at least the development of alt - tab to it, or activate other than by the keyboard.
Currently there is a click anywhere, focus is no longer.
On the desktop I can't click on the taskbar, it is as there is not the focus, but I can click on the icons on the desktop and can ' show ' this selection rectangle.

The only way I know to get back to normal (except reconnect or restart) is by pressing ctrl + alt + delete, then click on he evokes in this new 'window'. It's somehow "normal" mouse again, so I can click Cancel and continue the work.

First encountered this problem on Sunday while playing with Windows Movie Maker. Back then the only method I knew was reconnection, so I rather formatted the hard drive and reinstalled Windows7 (Professional), I was pretty shocked when he realized is always the same.

Could not say what makes it appear, it is while using different applications etc, seems fairly random.

I use a 2 monitor Setup. Disable the 2nd monitor does not solve the problem, after its appearance.

Any ideas what may cause this? Maybe graphics card failure? I don't think it's the driver because the error reappears before reinstalling the latest ATI drivers.
The similar problem only I could find has a post on the forum long long on a similar issue in Windows XP, and there is no answer at all.

    Thank you very much.

Certainly not a problem of material for me.  Things are better when I killed the explorer.exe (using the Task Manager).

In the Task Manager, I noticed that there are two instances of Flash Player running. Kill them does not solve everything, but once again, the behavior has been slightly less successful.  It turned out that I had both Flash 12 and 14 Flash installed. Then I uninstalled both and this is!  Everything was jake.

All the bad behavior had disappeared. Altogether.

I ran a few days like that and then reinstalled Flash 14.  Everything is always OK.

Why the Flash configuration didn't remove the old version?  Cannot answer for you. All I can say is I'm happy again.
