I can only connect to the Internet in safe mode
I tried - virus checks, HijackThis, disabling services and startup. I have three tabs for House (CNN, Yahoo and Gmail). Gmail connects but I can't access any other sites. Outlook 2007 connects to the MS Exchange Server. Everything has been fine for years and then suddenly it happened. I have excluded router and other connection issues.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T300, under XP SP3.
Here is the HijackThis log. Nothing jumps, but I'm not an expert. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I was going to run a HiJackThis scan. I follow the promts until now, and here is the log that is the result of the analysis. Can someone tell me what to do next. They suggest I ask someone until I try to delete or fix anything if I'm here and I'm asking! :) Here is the report that was generated after the scan:

Disk Cleanup file does not remove...
When running Disk Cleanup (Vista 32 bit) it the next file is shown in "Downloaded program files".
{E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7}It presents in the form of bytes 'Zéro' and has status 'damaged' against it. Cleaning never take it off.
If I found the file in C:\Windows\Downloaded program files, the only action available is 'properties' that appears under the "dependency" three files that depend on the above, two are "C:\Program files\... damaged, and one that says"Windows system 32\ATL. " "DLL."He has no problems with the PC... only that file which is displayed.
Google throws up a lot of hits too, that's the problem here,
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic277940.htmlI wonder if it's just a thing of Windows and is not really a problem at all.
Last update on this... My intuition seems correct. This issue seems to occur when you install Adobe Reader 9 and remove the 108 MB folder that he left behind him on the desk. I proved it by using a disk image (Acronis) of Vista fully updated, but no drive on your computer. Install Reader 9 and all is OK... remove this folder and the problem appears.
I studied this "folder" in time and the general opinion (even on the Adobe site) was just to delete. And that causes this problem of damaged file. -
Microsoft Network Framework 3.5 SP1 vs 1.1 and deleting damaged file ActiveX problem
Hello. I am running Windows XP, SP2. Until today, I had MS Network Framework 3.5 SP1 and 1.1 is installed, but due to problems with the download of update 1.1, I deleted 1.1 to reinstall a working version but I wonder if I still need 1.1, since I'm already running 3.5 SP 1?
Also, I have a damaged ActiveX file in my Windows/Downloaded Programs directory named, {E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-9522-AC9BF37916A7} files that it references seem to be missing and it is damaged, but I can't remove it from my laptop, using all the utilities to Delete, cut or cleaning included with Vista. What can I do about it?
Hi Dean Erickson,
You can install .net Framework 1.1 only if prompted by windows updates. Windows updates will decide if your computer requires 1.1. You should not install .net 1.1, unless you are invited to.
You cannot delete ActiveX controls that you have downloaded and installed. You cannot delete ActiveX controls were pre-installed or modules of any kind, but you can disable the. To delete an ActiveX control that you have installed, use the add-on Manager. If the add-on cannot be removed in Add-on Manager, you might be able to uninstall it through the control panel.
To delete ActiveX controls you have installed Internet Explorer 7
- Open Internet Explorer by clicking on the Start button and then about Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools , point to Manage Add-ons, and then click enable or disable add-ons.
- In the Show list, click downloaded ActiveX controls to display all ActiveX controls.
- Click the ActiveX control, you want to disable, and then click Remove.
- Repeat step 4 for each module you want to disable. When you are finished, click OK.
I hope this helps.

I downloaded network diagnostic utility. When I run it it doesn't let me go beyond to find the printer. He wants to be hung with ethernet cable that ain' will happen. The printer is hooked up to a Dell desktop running Windows 7 is my wife. It works, I'm not playing with this end. fear? Not only needless pain so I don't understand where it doesn't. He puts a signal because the configuration of the printer screen says it's better than only two laptops running Windows 7 can get impression of her. I initially hooked up wireless and this computer (runningXP Pro 32 bit) could get to print a test page. Photos would be would break. Printer is maybe half a page and leave a pin 2 or 3 pages gibberish * beep * and repeat. You could hit the computer host printing and it may begin to print ten minutes or so on the road. While I hit the print button 2 or three times more. This thing was spit out pages of stuff half done half a day later. Price of the Photo book made me he USB wire. I blamed it on slow internet. If we get 20 k, you are having a good day. My apoligies in advance at Leroy and Cush line DSL. It's all water over the dam, but I am not happy so far. I'm tired and my eyes is burned ash reading web pages and I don't always know what to do. I typed all the combinations of computer names, network names, ip addresses in each place I know to do and I can't get XP to recognize. I had a program called hack that I will attach a copy. It means little to me, but more knowledgeable people understand. If anyone can help I would know you more. I have been using flash drives for my impressions, but it would be nice to be able to print a page or two from time to time.

End of file - 14104 bytesIf the printer is connected USB to the Windows 7 computer, what you can do is share the network (assuming that the XP computer is also connected to the same network). In this way the XP machine can see the printer on Windows 7 computer and install it. The only downside is that the Windows 7 computer must be on for the XP computer can view and print to it. I've linked to a site of third party below for instructions on how to do it.

File for download to win program error
HI - this damaged file is the only file in this folder to download Win program and neither she nor the file will remove. What is - this and how it remove? Thank you. E2883E8F-472F-4FB0-AC9BF37916A7
File is in C: / / Windows/Downloaded Program Files - discovered it's damaged - http://platformdl.adobe.com/NOS.getPlusPlus.1 file.
I ran the fix - do not remove - then revisited the file and found the properties above - will attempt to secure boot. Had previous issues with Adobe, reinstalled and seemed to take care of him-, but from time to time once it crashes - maybe this is the reason?
Also, can 'never' open a word doc recently used menu recent without having already open Word - always shows an error code - file cannot be found - but if I open Word, it works. ??

I've updated, I downloaded and start everything to nothing is!
I'm and know my way around computers, but do not have any idea on how to solve this problem. Any help would be most appreciated because I have this rid of all computers before I use IE!Hello
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.
You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).
Then perform the following steps:
- Open the Firefox Options (Preferences on Mac or Linux) as follows:
- Click the menu button
and select Options
- In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
- You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
- Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:
This solve your problems? Please report to us!
Thank you.

Without internet (metered) either wired or wireless using HP Pavilion dv6-1375dx. Cables and other wireless devices work fine on a home network/router.
Found some flags on the NIC in "Device Manager" but uninstalled and reinstalled and flags went. All devices report now works without error.
Have tried to start in safe mode with network (without help).
Uninstalled the software Bitdefender Total Security 2016: malware, spyware, firewall, antivirus (without help).
Turn on the Windows Firewall WILL NOT!
Emptying the cache TCP/IP (without help).
Have tried msconfig (to eliminate any startup) and the minimal system of windows (without help).
Tried to update device drivers by downloading from another PC and copy the files (no help, even pilot).
Tried several fixes to 'Register' solutions (without help).
Scanned with several "fix connection" or adware/spyware/malware programs (without help).
Have tried all the above several times, so please do not contact me to "try again". If your idea is not new, it won't help.
I am subject to the point that I believe that the network card is bad, even if it makes good.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEFORE THAT THIS CELL PHONE FELL INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN!

My username contains more Documents folder.
Using Vista Ultimate. My user name in the Explorer no longer displays a folder of Documents. However there is a visible folder of Documents with all my folders and files available so I haven't lost anything. I tried to search in this forum, but no one seems to have had this problem that I could find. I tried the system restore, but that did not bring him back. I can Ctrl drag and create a new link in the user_name folder. So what I wonder is there a way to repair a user profile? And is it really important if he isn't a Documents in the folder of user name?
Hi Milo,
Please see the following thread similar with a possible fix:
I hope this helps!

Installed the wrong vista on the computer hard drive...
OK so here's... My girls to hard drive on his laptop crashed while I had it replaced the guy told me to reinstall vista (preinstalled) here and we were good to go. I came here and in an emergency I had the wrong bag and installed the software for my laptop. Now, after several weeks he won't let his diary so now I'm trying to reinstall his but there is no start button to follow the directions I've read on here, I also read to put the disc in, and then restart the computer and that it would start but no luck please help...
