E4200 Linksys print server

Hi, I have a simple question; The E4200 has a built-in print server? I have a usb printer, I want to join the router so several computers can print to it. The printer does not have ethernet or wireless.  Later I'll upgrade the printer but as to work with all my computers, at the present time.

Yes. With the latest firmware.

  • HP DeskJet 812 C & Wireles Linksys print server

When I try to configure my printer HP DeskJet 812 C as a network printer, it is connected via a wireless (linksys) print server, I get all the way to the Panel in which I am to set the driver but there are only a couple of mess of the printers listed there. Two, it's because there's only so many wireless printers and Windows 7 did not account for the printers to the print server connected. My 812-C is not among them, because it is not natively a network printer.

Maybe if I could install the drivers as a separate Act, then I could set up the printer even to work to an IP address. I print on the parallel port. Windows 7 supports parallel to print to the HP DeskJet 812 C printer?

Problem solved. You did not put the nail on the head, but you got me going in the right direction. There is no way to make Windows come out for windows update driver but I had a feeling that you were just that if I could install the printer on the regular port, I could change it to a network port after. Trouble has been, Windows doesn't recognize the printer via the parallel port. So I got the USB cable from my DVD, plugged and he went out to Windows update, or somewhere and got the drivers. It took almost ten minutes to complete, but most of that was probably downloading. So, after I had it installed, I changed the port to a tcp port and ran a test page, it came out beautiful and listed as 1192.168.0.100. He was good looking. Then I unplugged the USB cable and tried again, no joy. So, you know, I rebooted the machine, ran a test page and it came out great.

So, he took a long trip around, but my problem is solved. Thanks again for the help.

  • Wireless print server has no WPA encryption

I have a WPS54GU2 print server which works well on my network wireless for a couple of years.  However, I now have a new wireless router and was advised to use WPA instead of WEP encryption.  OK, so I'll change the encryption on the print server and all will be well... isn't it?  Evil.  The print server has no choice of WPA encryption.  All I get are WEP choices.  Site Web of Linksys shows I should be able to select WPA Personal in the wireless security menu, but he's not here.  Any suggestions?  I guess I can put the entire network to WEP, but I'd rather have the extra if possible security.  Thanks for any help!

WPS54GU2 print server only support Wep. If you want to use this device set the WEP security on the router.

I just got credit working mine in the answers above with a few small differences.

    1. Add the appropriate printer from the control panel > printers > add printer

    2. Select local printer, and then select [Create New Port] > [Standard TCP/IP Port]

    3. [device type] > [TCP/IP device]. Host name or IP address must be the IP address of the print server device.  I use a linksys router and difficulty mine to 192.168.2.10.  Check and are not [query the printer for and auto...]

    4. once nothing is detected, select [custom] > settings

    5. Select LPR, L2 the name value in the queue for a USB printer.  Turn on [LPR active of counting bytes.  Queue names are distinguished by the printer and I think as Mfg ("queue name" search and replacing your printer for queue names.)

    6. Select the Mfg and printer

    7. If the test page does not have a last thing, it is turn on [Control Panel] LPR Print Services > [programs and features] > [activate Windows features ON OFF] pane.  Go to [Print Services] and check on [LPR Port Monitor]

Hope that makes the magic for you.

  • Wireless router WRP400 WAP54G Point Wireless WPS54G print server Wi - Fi

I have a router broadband wireless Linksys WRP400 with 2 phone ports and a Linksys WPS54G wireless print server. Unfortunately, the signal is too weak to detect the wireless Print Server 20 meters/yards away at the other end of the House. (Works fine when they are close together).

Linksys Help Desk told me that a WRE54G amplifier is not useful to extend range, because they will have only a helping hand signal by 50% compared to a WAP54G wireless access point that they recommend.

Can you suggest the best way to increase the signal between a WRP400 router and a wireless WPS54G print server? Would a WAP54G wireless set to halfway between the two (or in some other way) is working to boost the strength of the signal between WRP400 router wireless and wireless WPS54G Print server?

I don't want to have to wire all devices.

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.

The printer model that you gave in your post, HP Officejet 4500 G510A made unsupported wireless or ethernet connectivity.  Without one of these methods of connectivity being available, there is no way taken in charge for the printer to communicate with a wireless device using the HP ePrint app. I've included a link to your printer's specifications.

  • Assessment capabilities of Windows print server for a large company automated printing solution...

    Hello

I need a solution to print server for a large organization. Need your help in evaluating Windows print management for this purpose.

    The case:

A centralized system correspondence generation will produce a "zip of PDF files" to print in various branches around the world. I expect to send the zipOfPDF to a centralized, Windows print server. From there on, it should be forwarded to respective branch local windows print server. I expect the following system:

    1. the centralized windows print server must be able to read zipOfPDFs and associated metadata.

2 centralized windows print server must be able to route (spool) the zipOfPDF to respective branches (metadata will include details of the branch). (Indicate if the custom coding is necessary for her or can be supported out of the box?)

    3. local windows print server receive the zipOfPdf and extract the metadata.

    4. extract the zip file and extract the files PDF.

5 read the metadata and move to designated PDF printer files (metadata will be printer details)

6 set the priority of print according to the metadata set. (The metadata will be priority printing details).

    7. create a record/report after printing the zipOfPDF.

    Indicate if

    1. it can be supported by the Windows print server instead of first? What operating system/printing system will be necessary?

    2. If so, is - all of this can be supported by out-of-the-box configurations?

    3. If no, what any custom coding may be needed and technology?

4 propose a scheme of it if possible.

    Thank you and best regards,
