E520 dead - 4th of 5!

Hello

We have 5 Edge E520. Three of them have died with exactly the same symptom during the warranty period, which is for me pretty much looks like a common problem. They have been repaired under warranty and I asked several times about one proactive solution for 2 others as long as they are under warranty - I never had no answer to that.

Now, the 4th E520 died with exactly the same symptom.

Is there a chance I get that fixed for free because of known issues?

Sombody know what is the cause?

Can I order parts to be replaced somewhere (I'm an electronic engineer - can I replace parts by myself)?

I couldn't find any at all.

So, this leaves very mixed feelings - especially because I wanted to fix the known issues in a proactive way. I don't know on the 5th of these E520 will display the same question so soon and I'll have to "recycle" this as well.

Anyway, next books we buy for our company certainly will not fix a Lenovo logo. We usually use HP and these 5 were the first time that we tried to Lenovo for the service group... bad move.

  • Apple TV 4th gen junk? -The distance dead and menu in Chinese/Korean

    So I bought 64GB 4th gen Apple TV for the family as a Christmas gift.  A lot of excitement, right.  You can imagine the scene.  I followed the directions and the plug, it and pops up a menu in Chinese or Korean.  OK, I think I can work my way through it at random and change the language... but the remote does nothing.  I tried not matching and re-twinning of the remote control and I get any flashing lights on the Apple TV device.  I have reset all mutiple times and I tried a bluetooth connection with my iPhone but not the bluetooth option still appears on my phone.  Apple TV is 4th gen junk?

    Take it back to Apple for testing or from another unit.

    Sounds like the menu remote synchronization and the battery being dead in the remote control.  Try reloading the remote: load your Siri remote or Apple TV Remote - Apple Support

    Note that you use the provided cable and a USB charger, or a USB port.

    Note also you can try and use the remote control that plugged while and do not need to wait three hours to fully charge.

  • Dead button, mini home iPad does not

    I left my mini ipad charging for a whole day yesterday and was just dead when I arrived home (connected at about 07:30, got home around 22:00).

    I tried locking push button and the "home" button and went into account before that, my home button works well so I think that there is no guarantee that I can perform the reset in this way. The last time I had similar problem last year (the case was also dead after left load for a long time), I took to a third party service center and was functioning properly shortly after. I plugged my ipad back into power source, nor any laptop computer. Is it possible that I can try to solve this problem before coming back to the service center? Since it costs me a lot of money.

    Turn on the AssistiveTouch

    When you turn on the AssistiveTouch, you will see the AssistiveTouch menu. You can drag it to any edge of the screen, then press the menu to open it.

    There are several ways to turn on AssistiveTouch:

    • Go to settings > general > accessibility > AssistiveTouch, then turn on the AssistiveTouch.
    • Tell Siri 'Activate AssistiveTouch.'

    AssistiveTouch allows you to control your device

    You can use AssistiveTouch to find and adjust some settings on your device as Volume, screen, lock screen rotation and more. Click on the AssistiveTouch menu and click on the parameter to be modified.

    2. Touch and hold the lock screen until "slide to power off" appears.

  • Podcasts won't load again 4th generation iPod

    I just bought a new iPod shuffle (my 2nd generation is dead).  I am familiar with how to load podcasts, but I can't get it to load more than my first.  I have 7 unplayed episodes and 5 different podcasts.  I tried to sync to load automatically - it is said that they are all in sync and eject the iPod.  I have to eject and when I listen to only the first podcast is here!  I restored the iPod and tried to manually load and I get the same result.  Only the first podcast will load.  When I click on my iPod to see what is on it, it shows that all unplayed podcasts are loaded.  What is going on?

    4th gen shuffle works a little differently the 2nd gen shuffle.  2nd gen shuffle is a very simple device.  He keeps a list of audio that can be played in the order of the list or in a random order.  4th gen shuffle is more like 'big' iPods (but without display).     Like the shuffle gen 4 can have multiple selections, you load ideally with a combination of songs and podcasts.  For example, you can a playlist of songs for the year and a "favorite songs" playlist, as well as your podcasts.  Use VoiceOver to select what you want to hear.

  • 4th generation shuffle does not illuminate or fresh

    I have the 4th generation shuffle, I think that medium 15 version. All of a sudden it just stopped working. The red light turns on for 5 seconds, disappears. Accused for hours, no green. Never appears in iTunes either.

    Performed troubleshooting:

    -multi-port USB (version 3.0 and 2.0)

    -2 laptops the different, a 10 Windows, other Windows 8

    -Charger usb (.5 amp)

    -(2A) usb car charger

    With the car charger, I read a tip where you unplug, plug back in until the red light stays on instead of disappear after 5 seconds. After about 5-10 trials, it remains lit only on the car charger. But, I charged straight for well over 45 minutes and it remains red. I unplug, turn on, but nothing. Not anything clear, green. Dead.

    What could be? Worked perfectly for a long time.

    You did a good job of troubleshooting to eliminate more possibilities, except defectiveShuffle.  It is less than one year from the date of purchase, you should have your shuffle looked under warranty.

    The problem may be a faulty USB cable, if it does not have good contact for recharging. So don't forget to take along.

    I've seen several similar posts on communities, but I tried everything I could see, but could not solve my problem.

    My shuffle is not lit, it may not be recognized by my iMac when it is connected and it shows no light.

    I've tried several things:

    1. reset (several times) by turning off for 10 seconds, then on again.

    2. load via wall charger for an hour... still nothing

    3. apparently, someone said that we could plug it in and out of the charger until it has enough power to kick start something where my battery is completely discharged. I tried too much for about 5 minutes, still don't see no signs of all the lights.

    4. I tried 2 original ipod shuffle strings and 2 also bought Internet, no difference. And Yes, they are pushed inside.

    Is there anything else I can try before giving up? Mine is a little over a year, so is no longer under warranty.

    Looks like you have tried many things.  Even if the battery is dead, you should get a reaction (like a red light) when it is connected.  It could be the USB cable, but you have tried two Apple.  The "made from the Internet" can be suspicious - they might be for the shuffle gen 2, which has a different connector and would not work with 4th gen shuffle.  You tried to load a USB power adapter, so the problem isn't a bad USB port on the Mac.

    My guess is a problem with the headphone jack on the shuffle. It does not have a power supply.  Or it could be a defect on the logic board.  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make an appointment with the store Genius Bar (tech support staff), even if it is out of warranty.

    If you do a search on the Internet for the independent repair companies in your area, you can find one knowing well Apple that will make the replacement of the battery.  In this case, the technician didn't need to be "certified" officially by Apple because it is not a warranty repair.  Technology needs of having an experience.

    I need to figure out if there is anything special/different regaurding how ATV (4th Gen) made the resolution DNS when wired to a Comcast cable modem only (no wifi and no router)?  I notice that my ATV selects a different subnet when ATV is set automatically resolve IP and DNS.  Example of my Dell PC Tower and Sony laptop automatically use a subnet of 255.255.255.0, but ATV uses the example below:

    Hello. You say there is no router, but I guess that the Comcast modem is also a router and DHCP server. Are you using IPv6? You use a static IP address?

    Yes, it works. This looks like some weird glitch. Using the new application ATV 4 remote control (black), or the older version, now called iTunes remotely? Try restarting the ATV using the settings > system > restart. Then try to pair it again.
