E8350 - no internet when connected to bridge modem

Hello

I put the modem from my ISP in Bridge mode and plugged into the internet port of my E8350. Then, I connected the E8350 to my PC to configure WiFi settings. It turns out that all is well... except that there is no internet connection.

Strange thing is that when I plug the modem LAN cable directly into my PC, I have no internet. So the problem seems to be with the E8350 and not with the modem of the provider.

I used the automatic configuration (DHCP) in the settings of internet connection of the E8350, which is the default setting for my provider (ZIGGO).

Any suggestions what might be wrong here?

This topic can be closed - I found a solution: for some reason, the MAC address of the E8350 was not accepted by my provided. So when I used my PC MAC address (address MAC Clone option) the ussue has been resolved

    I have mobile users using the Cisco VPN (4.0.5B) connection to a 837 customer. They can connect and access resources network in-house/remote ok. However, they are unable to access the Internet at the same time. I also had this problem where some users were connecting in a PIX, but managed to settle only by using the vpngroup tunnel of splitting and appropriate ACL commands. All I can find on the Cisco site is that it is possible by specifying an ACL, bit I don't know where to specify them this and that. Thank you.

    That's the problem of split tunnel. In general, the VPN tunnel can be configured on the client side (as the native client VPN PPTP in Windows for example) or side Server (like OpenVPN for example) to force all traffic through the VPN tunnel or not. If all the traffic is forced through the VPN tunnel, which is what your description, internet access is controlled by the VPN server. It is a safety precaution to isolate the network side server from your local network.

    I would check with your network/VPN to help admins simply because may fall you on a server-side config that may or may not be changed according to their network security protocols.

    HI I have an Ethernet cable modem BEFMCU10 model v3 connected to a Netgear n100 v2 wireless router. The modem works only when it is connected with the wireless router. When I try to connect Ethernet. Modem to PC, it does not connect, there is no internet access. My ISP is Comcast (Xfinity). It's really weird because how is it possible that theres internet via wireless, but when I connect my modem via Ethernet, I have no internet access

    I remember the first time I activated my modem there is xfinity software that did something to my modem but I don't think it has to do with anything he just install something in my laptop. I did a clean install of the software or anything has been removed.

    You will get the same benefits and an easier time using a wired connection to your router, rather than the modem.

    You can check this with your cable provider, but probably not.  Unless you have a very high speed (usually of company type) cable plan there would be no advantage.   You also must be sure that any modem you purchase is compatible.

    All right-_ - I tried a lot of things with this so I get irritated sorry. Here is my info I have a Linksys Wireless Router with SpeedBoost Firmware Version 7.2 WRT54GS (latest version). I'm trying to use it with a Sprint 645 series Modem. My IP address when you are connected to the router and the router connected to the Modem is 192.168.1.100 who my ISP said was ok to make it work. While it is just connected to my modem, it's the same thing except replace the 100 by 1. My ISP uses a measure of security where The Thing DHCP is 192.168.1.1 and so is the DNS server and default gateway and im not sure if this has something to do with it. I used the ping at a command prompt to make sure that I am connected to the router when its plugged up and it is. This is a new router. I have internet with Modem just perfectly. I tried to reset the router and that does not work-_-. I don't think it is important more because I tried to fix the many way people have told me and it didn't work, but I'll tell u in any case. When I put up the first router time I hung and lit everything at the beginning. Then I noticed that it says Run CD before to connect the cables... those who were not in the instructions but wtv... anyway resetting should have fixed or so I was told by other people on this forum. I use a laptop with Windows Vista, and I don't have access to a desktop computer in case I need a XD. I can connect to the router fine because I can access the Setup page... and I can connect wireless... The ONLY problem seems to be that the router will not connect to the Modem... for some reason of wtv-_ - I think that its because the entire security measure on the way to the DHCP and the DSN and the bridge are all 192.168.1.1, but that's just me.     When you connect through your router that you have two instances of DHCP past... one is your DSL modem with router IP address on its WAN interface. The other is the router that gives your computer an IP address via the DHCP server on the router. The IP address of the modem gives your router is in the 192.168.1.0 network. Unfortunately, by default, the reange of Linksys routers LAN IP address is also in this range. For that to work, you must set your router 192.168.2.1 LAN ip, so that the LAN and WAN router interfaces are in different networks.

    To do this, unplug the DSL modem router, power it and your computer, and then connect the computer to the router by an ethernet cable. Turn on the router and the computer, and then go to 192.168.1.1. Change the LAN IP on router 192.168.2.1, save the configuration, and then restart the computer. Once the computer returns to the top, navigate to 192.168.2.1... you should be able to get to the router GUI configuration.

    Turn off the router and the DSL modem, connect the router to the modem via the Internet port using an ethernet cable, and then turn on the modem, then the router... you should be good to go...

    I have the same problem.  My internet connection seems fine.  I can connect to the internet on my laptop to the company, xbox 360, roku and my cell phone, but not my laptop from Sony.  When I check the connection it says its fine but when I run a diagnostic it says "the DNS server is not responding."  I checked with my cable company and that they 'refreshed' my signal, but it would not connect.  Even than your wi - fi network or directly with an ethernet cable.

    If someone could help us both appreciate it.

    8. Backup the device to iTunes - restore as NEW (no) - see if solves problem - if yes - restore backup
    9. An appointment of 'Genius' to an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider.
