E8600 (E0 stepping) never confirmed to work in Inspiron 530 dual-core?

Looking to upgrade my Inspiron 530 (0RY007 mobo) to E8600 (E0 stepping) to run a sweet little dual-core as long as possible (other mods are already underway).  I've seen some posts around here like this - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/p/19333906/19702557.aspx - saying an E8500 with E0 stepping will work on BIOS version 1.0.15 and later, but just trying to confirm the e8600 (E0 stepping) BIOS v 1.0.16 working before we get into a situation of having to return one with the explanation that I was not sure it would work in my particular application.  I have never seen someone post back as the E0 stepping actually works (and what BIOS they run, because I don't want to 'upgrade' to 1.0.16 to 1.0.18 due to problems of DVI at 1.0.18).  Thanks in advance.

The relevant facts (for mods, see my signature below):

Motherboard: 0RY007 (530 variant with flexible connection, no a/b/c/d version)

CPU: 2.0 GHz E2180 Pentium dual-core

BIOS: 1.0.16 (not interested in version 1.0.18 due to problems with DVI connectivity)

This works.  After the Dell forums and Googling the whole web to research and finding no confirmation that the Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 would work in a Dell Inspiron 530 early vintage, I decided to take a chance and try it myself.

I use the BIOS.15 (not the derniere.18 version available on the Dell website) and the E8600 started very well and (Windows Vista 32 bit) reports that it is the Core 2 Duo E8600 and runs at 3.33 GHz specified.  Sweet!  Using the stock power supply and processor heat sink / fan Assembly.

I installed a new pair of bars of memory a few days I've been troubled havining of memory. Everything seemed fine for 2-3 days and then the laptop started running very slowly. I thought I'd launched a test of memory in Windows 7, is it on 2 pass test, so I started it again. Then the laptop is dead and when I rebooted (I noticed it was hot, so I left it 10 minutes) he said that he had closed the temp was at 90 C.

I had already tried to vacuum clean dust as I could, unfortunately, the processor and the fan is not accessible, so I ordered the compressed air and a computer laptop cooling tray.

Then I discovered that I have only 1 core of a double cpu work. Setting up operational Mamager didn't show a graph (should be one for each carrot?). I looked in Device Manager and saw the two entrances to mobile M620 AMD Turion 11 Ultra Dual Core processor. I then looked in msconfig \boot\advanced and which shows that I have cpu even using the drop-down list. So what explains the slow system.

Is it possible to get windows to see the two hearts, and if so, how can I do? I found a thread that says to d/l Easy BCD, but I couldn't see the option "Limit Windows to '0' (leave 0 to reset). Another person removed from the processor in Device Manager, but I don't know if it's OK to do so.

Having just reinstalled windows because of a corrupted registry is depressed me! I am considering buying a new laptop (on here 4 years), but this means that Windows 8!
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Everything has been fine since I was two hearts to work. I bought a laptop cooling tray and the temp got above 66 with a heavy workload.

so everything is good right now.

  • My speakers Altec Lansing ADA745 will work with my 530 s the new Dell Inspiron PC?

My speakers Altec Lansing ADA745 will work with my 530 s the new Dell Inspiron PC?

I watched updates of the audio driver for my pc and am not sure which one I need or you can even use it.

Although "4.1" speaker systems are very common, the ADA745 should work without problems on a new system.  I have no connection to the ADA745 info but I guess it would connect everything as you are currently connected to the old PC.  New systems PC audio supports up to 7.1 speaker (with the most common 2.1 or 5.1) systems.  There is no drivers for speakers, however, you need to define the types of speakers in the control panel (e.g. article 4.1, and if this isn't an option, try the 5.1 and see if works well).   Printed with the new PC installation worksheet should detail the audio connections and if not, there is a copy of the Dell manual loaded on your PC and it has the details on the back panel connections.

In Vista, the sound control panel is accessible by Start/Control Panel/hardware and sound/Sound.

  • On Inspiron 530 s fan will get stronger with upgrade to cpu e8600?

I have a 530 s Inspiron with an Intel Pentium Dual Core e2180 processor.  It was very noisy but once I cleaned the fan and the heat sink, he ran run quietly enough.  I read that the e8600 can run more hot.  The question is do you think that the fan will have to speed up (get stronger) to support.  I must say that I am enjoying my now quiet computer.  He was a fan of stock.

Thanks to Bev to answer a bunch of questions about the upgrade of the 530 s in the thread below, it was very helpful.

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../19372573

    Hello

This isn't a must for lovers of running strong, but yes, it will speed up intermittently (but will not strong).

As long as the machine is not overheated despite the heavy loads and the fan is quiet, nothing to worry about. But make sure its certainly go :-)

  • How to confirm HA works very well

    Dear the

I have configured HA on my cluster, is there some way I can confirm my HA works very well and it will take action if something goes wrong.

    concerning

    Mr. Vmware

In fact, HA will be well demonstrated when we simulate any host or a VM failure scenario, is that the purpose of HA.

If you can't simulate caused (by production env), you can check some tabs in VI client.

    1. click on host (from VI client) > summary > vSphere HA State > here you can find out if the host is master or slave.

    2. click on CLuster > summary > explore vSphere HA section (Please check each and every link available here)

This should give you idea that HA works very well.

If you have also allowed the DRS/DPM, HA there interop with DRS & DPM. E.g. When you have 2 host with less load in a DPM (without HA) cluster, DPM should recommend to for guests to sleep. If you enable HA, DPM must leave the standby host.

You can also check the configuration HA of Managed API or the object browser.

  • I've never seen Flash works correctly in TN

Flash always buffering for 5 to 25 minutes. Flash video stops and restarts, if I try to skip the part of the video. 3 years on 3 different computers and exact same comcast of problems with Flash. hundreds spend in computer repairs and upgrades of Flash and windows products now even with Linux. Any chance I can see a full video in a way to listen using the Flash?

It could be that I had Comcast for the 3 years to Tn my Dell has worked before moved me here. I get 30 meg of Comcast and even though I called and discussed many times with Comcast and explained that I bought two new computers they say still is not them. I think they have overloaded their equipment in my area and will not admit it. In two places that they have both worked on two of my computers had Comcast even resign and it worked great at the store, but has problems at home. I finally got Comcast to replace all wiring, but it did not help. My 30 MEG can be cut in and out.

  • Windows XP no longer allows the dual core cpu to work together

Among the recent windows updates (I think around October) caused my AMD core 7750 dual processor no longer work together.  What I mean by that is that when I use an application heavy processor as an anti-virus or a game it will allow only this program to use 50% of the total of the processor, when I use two of them at the same time, then windows allocates the other processor to the second task, also sometimes when you check the Task Manager I see that the CPU usage is 50% and has a 99% system idle process.  After Reinstalling windows xp processor works as it is supposed to, but I don't know what update is the cause of the problem, but it seems to happen after I get a rundll32 error if that helps any.

I managed to fix it but I don't know exactly how, all I know is that the problem went away after I reinstalled windows xp again.
