EA 3500 as a range extender

Hello

I have two routers EA 3500 wireless.  Can I connect two of them to increase my wifi coverage in my house?

I have one in the basement connected to my modem and the desktop and want to put the other on the mainfloor to increase my coverage to my third floor?

Is this possible with two 3500 EA?

Thank you

Of course, here's how.

I am trying to add a range-extender N300 WiFi at my home.  I have a router from apple.  I am trying to connect with WPS. I am looking for a WPS button on the router from apple (according to instructions), but fails.  Is it possible to use this extension?

The N300 has a web interface, you should be able to see the network transmitted the Apple it. Note that it may not work. Another unit of Apple would be simpler and better.

  • Apple makes a Wifi Range Extender

Did Apple make a WiFi range extender to mate with the time Capsule airport?

A perfect match would be AirPort Extreme... as a Time Capsule is actually an AirPort Extreme with a built-in hard drive.

A much slower alternative... performance wise... would be an AirPort Express.

  • Problem setting up WNR614 as Wifi Repeater / Range Extender

    Hello

I have a Modem ADSL2 + Wifi (Beetel 450tc1) that I use to connect to my computer. Recently I bought a new Netgear
WNR614 Wifi router and you want to use as a range extender. I have connected the netgear wireless cable modem Repeater and
another cable router netgear for computer. He opened routerlogin.net initially.

In literature, he mentioned that I should use the same SSID, channel, encryption method, and password of the netgear
router. As soon as I put the Repeater on the same channel, my computer shuts down opening routerlogin.net and it gives page not
    found the error.

Also the router to start up it gives message that ' to avoid a conflict with your ISP, your router IP.
address has been updated to 10.0.0.1'. My modem IP address is 192.168.1.1. So, when I try to change the IP address of the netgear router
address to 192.168.1.2, it gives me error "the conflict of ip address with the WAN IP subnet. Please enter a different ip address
address. Invalid starting IP address DHCP".

When I remove the use of router as a DHCP server, it gives me error - "the conflict of ip address with the WAN IP subnet. Please
    Enter a different ip address.

When I try to activate "Enable wireless repeating", it gives me erorr - "repeat wireless function cannot be.
used with Auto Channel". But when I change the channel of the car on the same channel from my modem (channel 1), my computer
stop opening routerlogin.net and I can't access the netgear router configuration settings anymore. The only option I have left with
    is to reset the router.

    Please help me.

    Thank you

OK, unplug the WNR614 of all, do a factory reset, then connect a PC to the LAN port and proceed to reconfigure.

  • Installed New Netgear Wireless Range extender but new network doesn't have internet access.

I just installed a machine net universal range extender for WiFi and the signal over the Wan is very strong, but when I connect to him he says that have no internet access. What should I change? I post what I'm on the Ext network.but when I try to access other sites, it won't let me.

I had the same problem as you and searched everywhere for a positive response and have not had a. I was about to return the netgear Extender when I, fortunately, has found a way around this strange problem.
In fact, it's really simple, and I encourage really all those who eventually get this problem complain to netgear not having their detailed in the guide installation process that they shipped with the product.

In my case, I have a WEP encrypted network.

If you can't access the web interface of the Extender, you need to reset the device by inserting a paper clip in the small hole next to the WPS button (if you don't know already).

When you are prompted for the encryption key and password for the network existing (the original one), you MUST WRITE THE PAST ON THE INPUT FIELD KEY word select and not the field the password. You can choose one of the 4 input key fields, but you MUST write the password on one of them and leave the field blank password (I think it's just for the WEP encryption, which is my case).

I also changed the encryption type for the new network "_EXT" from WEP to WPA/TKIP but kept the same password.

After the connection is complete the Extender successfully verified updates and all the IP addresses are assigned automatically via DHCP.

I hope that I answered in the time before returning the Extender because I don't have a kind of complained after doing this.

    Good luck
    Marlon.

  • WRT54GL router and WRE54G Range Extender

    Hi all

Can anyone shed some light on the link between a range extender wireless (WRE54G) with a router (WRT54GL): -.

1.) is it compatible with each other?

(2.) what distance will be extended the range? Currently the router itself has a range of about 10 to 15 meters

If you would use the WRE54G, otherwise, how could I extend the range?

    Thank you

    Heinz

    Cool... Thanks Klatch!

  • Computer "is" more low-signal router instead of range extender

I've seen a few similar posts; but nothing seems exactly like my problem; or I missed it.

I have a router WRT54G and WRE54G range extender; seem to be working well and talk to each other.  (Took a while, but I got it; and it has been fine since.)   I connected to the signal stronger WRE fast when Internet and slow Internet when WRT connected to the lower signal (which is further) - just like one would expect.

The problem: my computer (only place Office) will be unrelated to the stronger signal "Range Extender".  I'll work some time or leave and come back - and the link will be back signal Extender, fast router signal slow, lower.  I can click on my profile; Connect and sometimes come back on the most powerful signal.  (If not, try again and again until it crashes into the most powerful signal.)  [Even with "site survey" - I select Connect to the stronger signal, but it seems to connect randomly either.]

    - & - Another post, I think I could do something with the MAC addresses - for example, block my USB MAC of the router wireless receiver, so he 'only' to connect to the Extender.  (Better yet, I can say my network connection to connect only to the MAC of the extender?)

    Operating system is - 2000

Here's something I put in place earlier - for the most part just repeats above:

    Equipment:

LinkSys wireless router; WRT54G; 6 worm.  Firmware 1.00.7 (now 1.02.7)

LinkSys Range Extenders;  WRE54G; Firmware Ver 3 3.01.01 (now 3.04.01.)

USB LinkSys network adapter: WUSB54G Ver 4

-WHY it keep coming back to the lowest signal from router?  (The big question).

-Why, when I do a site survey, select the strongest signal and select Connect, enter the WEP code, he still occasionally connect back right at the lowest signal from router, even if I've highlighted the stronger signal Repeater when I hit the Connect button?

-If I create profiles with the most powerful signal, it is always the same (that is, sometimes it connects the signal the most powerful signal "Extender" and sometimes the Repeater weaker signal, except that I do not need to enter the WEP code if I connect to the profile instead of the signal of view survey.)

-According to information online, I found that the router must be on 'Firmware version 2.02.2' to be compatible WRE;   But - if I check for the latest version of the firmware for WRT54G version 6, it is 1.02.7 - does that mean the Extender is incompatible with my router?

-Are there a way to "force" the wireless network connection to bind to a specific MAC address - so I can restrict to a stronger signal of the Extender?

Scrooge, thanks for the suggestions.    Earlier, I tried the following solution, based on a similar condition a few - this on another post:

Solution: Configure the router MAC filtering does not to allow connections to the MAC address of the wireless USB network card.

Since I tried this a few days ago I was followed and it worked.  So, before he would keep switching to the smaller Repeater link.  In saying the Repeater from the heat to let the link not only the Extender to post a link and it is now to stay connected to the Extender and the speed remains constant.

  • Printer wireless B109n-z Edimax Range extender access point

I can't get my printer to connect to the range extender.  It's an EW-7416APn V2.  All my other iPods to computers etc. all find and connect fine it's just the printer.

The printer connects to my router (netgear Sky) so I know the side of the printer wireless works.  IV ' e been through the implementation of many times and failed to get the connection.

Network test report suggests the SSID is not found, but everything it is no problem.

    Any ideas?

I also tried the button but WPA setup routine that will not work either!

Sort the problem.  There was nothing wrong with the Edimax Repeater or the printer.  I had placed the printer on the shelf under the TV in the winter garden.  Above the plateau is an area of sky with a transmitter of Gig AV 2.4 connected to it (to send Sky TV for the kitchen).  Turn off the transmitter AV enabled a connection with the Repeater.  FYI, the distance between the transmitter AV and the printer was around 250 mm.  I have now moved the transmitter AV of the printer (connecting via a cable SCART, rather than directly to the area of the sky).

    Operational wireless printer!

  • Using 3500 as a Wireless Extender DHCP problem iPhone X 6

    Hello

If all goes well, a simple question with a simple answer.

    Background:
I stayed away from my DSL provider to a cable provider (VirginMedia). My new ISP is delivered with a modem cable (SuperHub 2 ac) and I connected the two devices together to extend my wireless home network. The cable modem, it's that the two routers are physically apart from others - connected through just their Ethernet ports - the technology of power line (Devolo dLAN 1200 +). Both routers have the same SSID broadcast, but on separate channels.

    Question:
All devices in my house, the tablets of laptops, phones roam between the two areas wi - fi transparently * except * the iPhone 6 (iOS8.1), this works on the cable modem wi - fi, but not on the X 3500 wireless. I also have an iPad Mini 2 (also iOS8.1) which works too - aptly / wrong I have excluded iO8.1 as the issue. Oddly enough, the iPhone 6 connects to the x 3500 but isn't getting an IP address (the cable modem's DHCP server). Even if a static IP address doesn't help.

    Comments:
If the X 3500 is configured as a DHCP server, the iPhoen connects (and gets an IP address), but then the default gateway is incorrect (gateway IP address of the X 3500 is not the modem cable remote). I can't find anywhere to specify a default gateway configuration.

    Question
I start thinking, it is a problem with the iPhone 6 (know all other devices work correctly), but I want to just make sure I am the X 3500 configuration correctly. I am particularly interested in it if I use the right to 'Mode' ADSL / Ethernet. I tried 'Bridged Mode Only' (ADSL) and "Automatic DHCP only" (Ethernet), but does not seem to solve the problem of having the iPhone 6.

any suggestions on how to fix / help would be most welcomed.

    Thank you!

Thanks a lot for the details... Now I have a config that works also for the iPhone6.

Basically, I connected the cable on the 3500 x port and the Ethernet port on the cable modem connected to the internet (via the Powerline). I then changed the network on the 3500 of 192.168.0.x x range (this is the range of network addresses used by the cable modem connected to the internet) to 192.168.168.x. Finally I activated the DHCP on the x 3500 which seemed to be the element that was killing the iPhone6.

The iPhone6 connects now (which he always did), but with DHCP running on the x 3500 on the new range of network addresses of the iPhone 6 also get a valid IP address.

Looks like that much just to get the iPhone 6 to work... never found a manual way to specify a default on the x 3500 gateway when you run DHCP (appears by default which is her own IP address - with no provision to change).

Anyway... This works for now... I'll keep an eye on the iPhoen updates 6, just in case where the anomaly is something specific to the iPhone 6, if something changes I will post here.

I have attached a picture for furture reference. Thanks again for your advice and support.

  • Airport most convenient that the range extender today broke up after that put 7.6.7 at level

I have two extreme airport connected with an ethernet cable, one for upstairs and one for down. One downstairs is set to extend the reach of the network wireless created by one on the floor. Also the one upstairs is configured in Bridge mode because I have a server that I use for DHCP and DNS, instead of using the airport for that. The server and the airport on the floor are connected to the same network switch.

Everything worked very well under firmware 7.6.4. But after the upgrade to 7.6.7 and without changing any settings, now my network is terribly broken. No devices can connect to the wifi network, and the network interface on the server shows errors like "has received the package on eth1 with own address as source address" and "Null supervisors, receiver of broadcasting not ready."

The problems went away by unplugging the airport down.  But this isn't a good solution.  I want to have both, and I want that they function as they did before.

When you have airports connected by ethernet... YOU MAY NOT USE EXTEND WIRELESS.

    The result is the following.

Server shows errors like "has received the package on eth1 with own address as source address" and "Null supervisors, receiver of broadcasting not ready."

You create a loop where packets are going around and around the system.

If you say you had it past 7.6.4 firmware and it was broken by 7.6.7 well, I can only say that he has never worked on any firmware with a switch or other device which is able to break loops.

Return to 7.6.4 and see if it still works.

I found that Wireless extend over 7.6.7 is more restrictive than the firmware as soon... I highly recommend 7.6.1 for it... as I can show 7.6.4 reproducible problems but it is also a case that former airports are losing just their WILL... I had success extend wireless who recently failed... and it's purely too big range... considering that it used to work properly. Which shows that the products are just slow decline.

I also get numbers of the absurdity of airport utility that I still don't understand.

for example. I got the link to work on a new Gen5 TC (refuses to bind on Gen4 TC)

If I click on the unknown link, it shows a link 450Mbps speed which is impossible. The RSSI is also what you would get with the two devices within 1 foot of the other (30 cm) No 20 M through several walls and a floor.

The end of TCgen5 by using the utility v5.6, I see the actual rate...

The link is showing 54 Mbit/s and a signal-78dB which makes much more sense. Unfortunately the other end does not record again... and the value 0 for the noise is also wrong.

Noise on the latest diagnostics wireless displays 0 for a lot of wireless.

Something rotten in the world of the Apple to the end... What with the CCMM giving a total mess to Airport utility if people use it...

  • Airport Express used as a range extender with a Virgin / superhub of Netgear does not work

I use Wifi around the House on three floors and in the back kitchen.  in the kitchen, reception is poor, probably because of masonry between the modem and the kitchen walls.

I bought an Airport Express 802.11n in January 2016 hub to extend the WiFi in the kitchen and I hope that the patio beyond.  The distances are not great - 10 to 15 m.  We have the Virgin as a provider with a Netgear Virgin Super Hub (490 VMDG).

Express to the airport moved and this is confirmed when to check on my Mac with Airport utility, the MONKEY shows and itself a steady green light.

Problem is that in using wifi designs in the kitchen the signal is poor to non-existent and when I turn off the EPA the signal isn't as well, which implies that the received signal is that of hub Super rather than the EPA.

I guess I can't realized overall upward to extend an existing network?

    Any suggestions?

The Airport Express is not designed to extend the signal of a 3rd party router, so if you try to have the Express connect wireless wireless and to extend the signal, he can not do with your Virgin Super Hub.

The Express is designed to extend the signal from another wireless only router from Apple.

The Express 'joined' your wireless network, it could be used to connect a compatible USB printer or for use with AirPlay.

If you want to Express to extend the signal of the Super station, the Express needs to connect to the hub using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.

Alternatively, another option would be to add another Express, install it near the hub and plug it into the hub with an Ethernet cable. Then, a 'distance' AirPort Express would be able to extend wireless signal of the Express 'main '.

  • Range extender WN2000RPT and iPhone5

Lately the connection keeps falling, when he used to work properly. It works very well with the computer and Amazon Prime TV

Could you try changing the channel wireless router/extender, for the 2.4 GHz 1, 6 and 11 band channels are usually the best choices? Do you use the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band?

  • RE6500 Setup\IP Address\Range Extender

I have a RE6500 used with a WRT AC 1900 as the router. The range is too far to reach the other floors and the pieces away from the House.

So the questions are: should I use a static IP address for the RE6500?

Should I Park the RE6500 and replace it with a Powerline Ethernet as the PLWK400 adapter?

Should I connect the RE6500 to a Powerline Ethernet adapter?

What I read on the Powerline Ethernet adapter, it is to be on the same circuit breaker. I guess that this circuit breaker is in the electric Panel. If I can't be on the same circuit breaker, and then abandon the idea.

Any other suggestion to reach the other side of the House?

You can use the RE6500 where it works better; with not too much or too little signal. I recommend giving it a static IP address so you can always connect.

Adapter PowerLine work at the level of the electrical panel, but may have problems between sub-panels. Of course, they work better on the same circuit. They work well with circuit breakers and the old or bad connection.

I recommend that you run a CAT5e cable (preferred) or by using the Powerline adapters. Then put an Access Point to the new location. I do not recommend combination unit PowerLine\Wireless bridge.
