• Reduced speed with new XAC1900 wireless router

  I recently installed a new XAC1900 wireless router. My problem is that the download speed is much lower than expected in my fiber plan, which provides 50 / 20 Mbps. With my Belkin AC1750 previous I was getting very close to those speeds by wire and wireless. The problem with the Belkin is that it has become very unstable with the new configuration of fiber. The XAC 1900 seems very stable, but I get only around 14 Mbps download, upload is close to max about 17 Mbps, both wire and wireless. I have just connected a PC directly to the network fiber termination device and the speeds were almost to the maximum, 48/19. If the problem seems to be with the modem. The router has the latest firmware. Any advice would be appreciated.

  A network bridge is software or hardware that connects two networks or more so that they can communicate. You can create only a single bridge network on a computer, but a bridge can handle any number of network connections.

  You can try the steps at the bridge between two different routers wireless.
  a. determine the coverage area. When using two or more routers, the coverage area should be divided, and each router should be placed in a central location in each subdivision. If you add a wireless router to an existing network, this may mean moving the first router.

  I'm trying to get a few dlink wireless bridges to work with wrt610n, but not having a chance.  I left Wrt610n router with the IP default '192.168.1.1' and configured accordingly bridges with addresses "192.168.1.xxx".

  Wireless bridges is not happy.  Any ideas?  Bridges have been working well when I was with the IPS "192.168.0.xxx" with wrt610n

• Unable to join a homegroup Windows 7 with a network that spans a wireless bridge

  I have two Windows 7 machines that are at the ends of the face of a wired LAN network which connects via a wireless bridge and I am unable to get Windows 7 machines on each side of the brdige to connect to a homegroup created across the bridge.  Perhaps to better illustrate what I mean, here's my network configuration:

  Wireless router:
  Machine from Windows 7 1 (LAN wired to the router)
  Windows XP machine (for LAN cable to the router)

  Wireless Bridge (connect wirelessly to the wireless router):
  Computer Windows 7 2 (LAN wired to the bridge)
  PS3 (wired LAN to the bridge)
  TV (cable LAN to the bridge)

  I use the bridge wireless set up so that I can connect LAN devices wired to the wireless bridge so that they appear to be on the same local network as all other devices on the wireless router (stops to have at home and the bridge wire wireless allows me to expand the scope of all wireless devices I might have).  While all the machines can meet without a problem and I can't even set Windows Media Player to stream video to the PS3 and the TV through its capabilities of DLNA, Windows 7 network mapping server shows not the systems connected to the other end of the gateway wireless as being on the same network (although it shows them); so Windows 7 Homegroup does not see other machines as being on the same network.

  The only thing I can think to do with limitations in TCP/IP regarding a wireless bridge, from the perspective of wireless router all connected to the wireless gateway devices appear to be a device (they all appear under the same physical MAC address as the device only "wireless" that connects to the network is the wireless bridge - who just happens to have three other devices connected to it) even if they are assigned to different (numbers) IP that are in the same subnet, etc.).  So I guess what I'm wondering Windows 7 has a limiation to recognise the devices connected via a wireless bridge?  Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a work around?

  I had this same problem (unable to connect to a Windows 7 homegroup) on Windows 7 (64-bit) PC behind a wireless bridge using a D-Link DAP-1522 to a D - Link DIR-655 residing on the main network.

  The solution that worked for me was to allow for the "'wireless MAC CLONING ' with 'Source MAC = Auto" on the DAP-1522. "  It also had the beneficial effect of the side to fix a problem on PC behind the bridge where control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network card cannot display all the network devices.

I want to install a wireless bridge between this and an E1500, so I can connect my TV to the E1500 (via ethernet cable) and have access to the internet. Unfortunately, I can run a cable from the WAG120N to the location of the TV. Then she I can get the E1500 filled the WAG120N wireless, I hope I can work around this problem.

  2. either install 3rd party firmware like dd - wrt or tomato or buy a dedicated wireless bridge and connect the E1500 to the bridge. This way, you can also use the wireless in the E1500 for wireless connections.

  Regarding accurate features 3rd party firmware that we need to ask in the forums of 3rd party firmware. I think that dd - wrt and tomato two add configuration options to configure a WRT as wireless bridge. You would operate a WRT in the normal way (i.e. you don't need 3rd party firmware on that one) and the other as the bridge that connects to the first.

  I decided to use Directv and attached my wireless bridge. It connected and I was able to play videos but again once my network drive was not appear. I probed more deep - went to administrative privileges and found an article on multimedia. Unfortunately the box shares on the network multimedia player has not verified! Control which allowed me to be able to stream all my video to the TV through directv set-top box. the network drive appeared as a server and all is well.

  I use the wireless bridge to connect directly to the TV when I want to access account netflix to my husband or other internet offerings of SONY, but as a coil of general for my stored photos and video I'll stay connected to the directv because it works very well.

  I connected my 1536dnf LaserJet recently purchased by the Ethernet cable to a bridge wireless to allow printing and scanning from my wireless laptop. It works very well. However, for some reason any communication is no longer with the printer through box HP tools or ePrint, who both worked very well to install. My router main displays the address IP of the LJ 1536 as a connected device. Somehow, the bridge becomes a way? There not at the beginning. Is there anything else that could prevent these kinds of communication but not printing/scanning? Is there a setting to resolve that I've not found? I tried to put the default gateway of the LaserJet printer for the IP address of the gateway instead of the router, but that did not help. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  This router is brand new.  The only things I've done are:

  1. Perform a router unboxing conversion
  2. Ignored configuration wizard
  3. Try to configure wireless bridge mode
  4. Received the error saying I need to reset the router to the factory settings
  5. Reset the router to the factory with the red button settings
  6. Router connected directly to the link upstream (cable Modem)
  7. Through the Installation Wizard
  8. Update the Firmware to the official version: 1.1.8.164461
  9. Has crossed the Bridge wireless installation Instructions here

  I thought I would add another update here, given that the issue has been isolated and fixed:

  It turns out that plugging in the Comcast cable on the floor was very old, had a longer cable length, and was also on a split bar.  Called Comcast to help solve our problem, and they were able to test the intensity of the signal on the line.  Signal was not reliable on the cable on the floor, so we moved the modem more near the source of moving the cable (don't run, no separator, the best signal of shorter cable).  Upstream of the modem connection was immediately more reliable, moving router downstairs gives the best WiFi coverage for the rest of the House.  I have decided at this time that the extra router was not necessary and referred.  So, Detective Conan... problem was double: bad signal on the incoming line from Comcast and bad location for WiFi router upstairs.

  You can configure to be an access point but not a bridge wireless with Linksys firmware.

  If you have version 1 of material then DD - WRT is supported and very probably can turn it into a wireless bridge.

  I noticed Cisco released the 1530 Outdoor Wireless Access Point.  Has anyone used it successfully as a bridge wireless, and nobody knows if theres a utility for calculating range to work remotely approximate the 1530 cover with integrated or external antenna?

  The replacement for the bridges were the exalt r5005 which Cisco sold. This is the real external point bridges up to 160mbps half duplex. You can probably use the old calc or mesh range calc for you give a good estimate.

• Autonymous 1300 AP wireless bridge - BVI1 and bridge group Question

  Hi all

  I am setting up two 1300's as a bridge wireless, but I' am not going to use in the network, vlan 2 vlan 1 is my managent.  Does this mean that I won't be able to manage the wireless bridges because only the Group 1 bridge can route ip?

  I configured bridges wireless with the network infrastructure such as vlan vlan 2 on the SSID and I created a control2 on both AP quit my BVI1 on both sides.  AP associate between them, but I could not telnet or ping the bridge on the vlan 2.  I went then to the vlan 1 as the infrastructure vlan and I turned to BVI1 upward.  Then I could ping and telnet to the bridge wireless between the bridges.

  So with the installer, I want bridges will be managed locally via the console?

  The other issue I have is that I have a vlan 900 for the voice across the bridge but bridge-group # s only go up to 255, will my traffic vlan 900 still cross the bridge without the configuration of the bridge Group on the dot11 and fa0 subinterfaces?  Thank you

  No need to create control2... BVI 1 is sufficient and map the SSID of the Valn 2... This will be enough to get the operational wireless network. the switch port configuration must be a trunk allowing all the VLANS.
