EBS R12.1.3 "Incremental Clone" as a backup Solution?

Hi Hussein.

I worked on a backup solution for Oracle EBS, which can be used in disaster (complete server failure). That's what I came with:

Week 1: complete Clone of the Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3 environment. The copied files are sent to another server (the target system is NOT configured).

Week 2: I stop the AppsTier source and DbTier and copy them over the other server using the rsync command to synchronize all changes (database and application). It is a crash.

So where we physically lose the Production Server, I can always restore the clone on a new server.

We can afford 1 week of data loss (users will need to re-enter the data).

Week 3: same as week 2.

This could work as a recovery after disaster? (The rsync command really will synchronize the content of the databases data blocks?)

Thank you, Hussein.

Hi Clamarion,

Your approach should work too long that your database is shut down cleanly before using rsync. Since you are using rsync and overwrite the data files, your destination files will be in sync with the source ones.

Outside rsync, you could use RMAN incremental backup database or EU data guard (which requires an additional license). If you are open to these options and you have any questions feel free to post here.

Thank you

Hussein

You must copy all applications and files nodes of level database from the source to the target servers-this is already explained/mentioned in the documents mentioned above.

No, it is not possible, the clone requirement is the source and target must be compatible to the binary format.

  • DMZ Instance EBS R12 - Login Page cannot be displayed

    Hello everyone,

Clone an instance of EBS R12 on RHEL 6 and put on 2 new DMZ VM for iSupplier. At through different files, change the server names to reflect the new DMZ servers, and headed autoconfig. When I try to hit the new url of DMZ, it runs for a few seconds and then said: cannot display the page. I decided to take the new balancer DMZ of the equation and just point all the URLs on the host name of the server and run the autoconfig, but still the same thing. In the access log, it says:

    [17/Aug / 2013:00:17:21-0500] "GET /OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp HTTP/1.1" 302-657-29 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible;". MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0 .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322;. NET4.0C;. NET4.0E; InfoPath.3).

I activated the Oracle HTTP Debugging and found something interesting. Whenever I try to view the login page, I get this entry in the log:

    payload of <>

    < MSG_TEXT > mod_oc4j: header of the response 3, key: location, value: https://internalLoadBalancer.gov:23799/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=XXXXX & resp_id = 1 & resp_appl_id = 1 & security_group_id = 0 & lang_code = US & Params = xxxxx & OAS = xxxxx ... < / MSG_TEXT >

    < / payload >

    The value of the location above is F5 url of the internal cloned EBS I replaced in all files. I expect it to be http://externalDMZhostname.gov:23799/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=xxxxx & resp_id = 1 & resp_appl_id = 1 & security_group_id = 0 & lang_code = US & params = xxxxx & oas = xxxxx.

  • EBS R12.1.1 database copy windows on windows?

    Hi all

I'm a developer of report. I have two servers (VMs)

    Server1: Win 2008, Oracle EBS R12.1.1.
    Server2: Win XP SP3, about to install Oracle 11 g R1

My goal is to copy the entire base of the EBS R12.1.1 Vision Instance (SCREW) on Server1 to 2 Oracle database... And please not that I don't need the data in these patterns - I use to run ETL scripts, so on server 2, I'm not going to run any Applications(Forms, or reports or others) EBS.

To do this I think using http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_db_copy.htm, or RMAN method...

    Now my questions are:
    1. can I use one of the above methods?
    2. If Yes, for the two methods above, during the installation of target (Server 2) database do I need select the option "Create Starter Database (additional 1482 MB)"? I'm in a crisis of large disk space, so I prefer not to select this option, but can I follow above methods clone with on the creation of a database of startup in the target system?

    Thank you and best regards.

Yes, but if you are not familiar with RMAN or backup/recovery methods is perhaps not easy (or simple) to you.

    2. If Yes, for the two methods above, during the installation of target (Server 2) database do I need select the option "Create Starter Database (additional 1482 MB)"? Even if you do not create a new database, you will eventually have the same size of database after you copy files or use RMAN (backup/restore). Size of your target on the target database database will be exactly the same size of database on the source database.

I would prefer that you use one of the following methods instead of RMAN:

    (1) quick clone (clone the node in database only layer and this is the best option for you) - cloning Oracle Applications V12 with rapid Clone [406982.1 ID]

    (2) the method in the link referenced by you

    (3) export/tax (which takes a lot of time):

    Export/import process for R12 using 11 GR 1 material or 11 GR 2 [741818.1 ID]
    Export/import process for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 using 10gr 2 [454616.1 ID]

    Hello

you have divided the services on 2 Application nodes?

If you have shared, you can follow the procedure below works

    (a) stop the application of services including simultaneous managers on both nodes of the application
    (b) run config clone on 1 node applications to run services
b cancel the registration of the 2nd application node
    Perl $AD_TOP/bin/adgentns.pl appspass = \contextfile= - removeserver
    (c) clean the table of fnd_nodes
    Log in as user apps
    SQL > exec fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean;
    SQL > commit;
    SQL > exit
d remove the second node for network applications (this is optional)
    (d) run the autoconfig on first level db
e run the automatic configuration on the first node of apps
    (f) to start the apps on the first node of apps services

  • ASIC can run on the same server/db like EBS (R12.1)

    Hello

We have an EBS (R12.1) environment and intend to use the CPSA. I've seen environments where the CAWC runs in its own environment/database, etc. and connects to an instance of the EBS. Which is the only type of available configuration or can CAWC run fully within an environment of EBS/instance on the same server? If so, what are the consequences of such a configuration, for example on the performance.

    Thank you

    NAT.

    Hi Nat,

ASIC can be configured in two ways:

1 centralized - where the EBS and VCP reside on the same application server.

2 decentralized - where the EBS and CRS are on two different application servers.

Basically the motor nucleus of CPSA of planning does all the planning in the memory of the application server (and not in the database). This planning process is highly require a lot of resources (memory) and requires a huge memory (according to the data, the type of plan and many other factors). If the application servers are not the right size, this led to the poor performance of the application. And if both the planning and EBS reside on the same server, there are possibilities that you slow the global treatment through the functions of the company. That's why decentralized architecture is preferred, where the planning process running on another remote computer of your EBS and it didn't there in not affecting transactional modules.

Beyond that, you have the ease of maintenance in terms of correction, update, addition of multiple of VCP modules, if you're on a decentralised architecture.

Centralized architecture is also not rare. Many companies run their planning and EBS on a single machine.

I hope that the above gives you a point of view, using which you can choose what suits your business best!
