Eclipse Plugin 1.1 - What does 'Package projects' actually do?

Hey everybody,

I'm trying to make the change from the JDE to the glory that is Eclipse, but there are some differences that I'm not sure.

For example, if you select a project in the in Package Explorer (left), right-click and select BlackBerry in the context menu it gives you the ability to Package project (s). By clicking on this seems to yield some activities in the console, but I don't know what else.

Is it the same as simply the construction and running not the sim card? Or is it supposed to be some sort of usable output?

I was really hoping "Projects package" meant "gather all jad and cod files and put them in one place for you", but it doesn't seem like this is the case.

Any ideas?

Package projects creates the cod, jad, alx, and jar files for you and place them in a folder depending on the OS, you're targeted.

If you are targeting 4.7, your files would be under deliverables/4.7.0.

    People:

I'm not a Linux guy, so forgive me for this question "junior."  When I 1st started with VMware I loaded ESX 3.5 and thought that the default partitions proposed by the GUI should be good enough. 1 year later, 2 guests ran fine without any problems, everything should be OK. Recently, I upgraded to ESX 4.0 via the Update Manager Vcenter, so always good. Of course along the way, I found many, many opinions on what "partition" best sizes should be for ESX. OK, I was able to understand some issues, as if the default location for the unannounced dumps core is full, he picks up the file system in the partition.

Study for my VCP - 410 exam, there are many references to the size of 'minium' partition to install ESX4.0. My experience in the world of Windows "diskpart" was a subject that you didn't really want to play around. So today, I decided to 'see' what were the partitions on my server ESX4.0 (pasted below). Using fdisk-lu, df-h and vdf - h, I realized that "dev/cciss/c0d0px" partitions are on the system drive local (locally for this ESX host boots), which is a HP Smartarray RAID1 72 GB table on a server BL680. I can deal with that, I see 7 partitions, which I can understand the VMFS file would be based on the size of the partition.

What I can't understand where is the/dev/sdax "disks/partitions" coming from? It seems that/dev/sda5 = / dev/cciss/c0d0p2 &/dev/sda2 = / dev/cciss/c0d0p7 (I assume that on the size of the partition). Can someone tell me what the "decoder" secret of ring, it's that I'm missing here? Is there a 'physical' of 'logic' device name mapping device that I need to understand?

PS: Yes I'm not run cleanup ESX3.5 script (/ usr/sbin/cleanup-esx3) yet. Had only 5 days on ESX4.0.

So you say to the COS ESX uses this VMDK 'reader' divided into partitions/dev/sda1/2/3/5, Yes?

Right... are partintions of a single vmdk file.

dev/cciss/c0/d0/p7, 2 = the 'old' partitions COS divides for ESX 3.5?

You must read the point of editing... for example with the release of df:

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p2 4.9 G 1.7 G 2.9 G 38% / esx3-installation

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p1 99 M 71 M 24 M 75% / esx3-installation/boot

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p7 2.0 G 900 M 962 M 49% / esx3-installation/var/log

As you can see also/dev/cciss/c0d0p1 wore on old ESX installation

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p5 = ESX 4.0 Kernal partition?

    Yes... to exit fdisk:

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p5 143091018 143299799 fc VMware VMKCORE 104 MB 104391

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p6 = swap for ESX Kernal?

Yes... but is not used by ESX 4.0, it was former swap space

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p1 = the boot partition?

    Yes... output of df:

    / dev/CCISS/c0d0p1 99 M 71 M 24 M 75% / Boot

As you see it is as well the boot for ESX 3.5 and 4.0 partition... It is usual

Today, I found the solution to my problem... rapc.exe does not make use of the Configuration of virtual machine JAVA Eclipse - this means that rapc.exe will use the javac.exe & jar.exe located 'somewhere' (in my case the Microsoft stuff)...

as a workaround, I added my favorite '... \jdk\j2sdk1.6.0_06\bin' & '... \jdk\j2sdk1.6.0_06\lib' at the beginning of my system PATH environment variable.

I hope this will help others with similar problems

  • CAP and images in the construction and the line of command vs eclipse plugin

    Hello

I tried to get the CAP to compile our project from the command line with a lot of frustration.  All I want is a COD compiled with images (/res all inclusive)

First of all, the eclipse console output doesn't seem to work exactly when run from the Windows command line, so there are many more things in the background that makes the plugin.

    It's the console output:

    C:\development\eclipse-java-galileo-SR1-win32\eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpack4.5.0_4.5.0.21\components\bin\rapc.exe codename=deliverables\Standard\4.5.0\WCUL deliverables\Standard\4.5.0\WCUL.rapc -sourceroot=C:\development\blackBerry\workspace\Azimuth\src;C:\development\blackBerry\workspace\Azimuth\res;C:\development\blackBerry\workspace\Azimuth\test -import=C:\development\eclipse-java-galileo-SR1-win32\eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpack4.5.0_4.5.0.21\components\lib\net_rim_api.jar;..\MobileDBLibrary\deliverables\Standard\4.5.0\mobileDbLib.jar;..\MicrologLibrary\deliverables\Standard\4.5.0\micrologLoggerCore203.jar;..\AnalyticsLib\deliverables\Standard\4.5.0\flurryAgent12.jar C:\development\blackBerry\workspace\Azimuth\bin

Basically, which resembles CAP is executed on the precompiled classes.  This runs directly from the command line in the same environment:

    ...
    Warning!: No entry points found
    Optimizing
    Populating
Warning!: No definition found for exported static routine: .main(String[])
    No errors.

You get a COD in the output directory, no JAD and trying to load on the device is not successful (app does not seem to be on devicejava)

Many positions and from my own experience, it seems that the CAP removes all the binary images even if they are on the path (import, sourcelist, etc.).

    I tried a workflow to:

    * compile sources (javac)

    * pot of classes and resources (images)

    * preverify jar

    * the cap on the jar

This seems to work well, but running on the device - with all the loaded libraries - returns

    Error starting :
Module '-1' has verification error 421 at offset 42e6

This jar compiled Cap (checked all resources of the pot) does not contain any class - just the COD files - that is an anomaly of the release of eclipse Cap pot.

Somehow the eclipse plugin Gets a sliding Cap compilation successful with the resources at the right time.  I would like to know how.

    Thank you

PS I tried this with bb-ant-tools and command line.  about 1000 permutations of all the above

I couldn't get the jar solution works, but it's basically what I was doing with rapc.exe.

However, this post, has helped tremendously:

  • problem with creation of file resources Eclipse plugin (or 1.0)

I have problems with the creation of a resource file using the Blackberry for Eclipse version 1.0 plugin (later).

    (1) I which is the main project in the workspace, right mouse-click and click New | Others.
    (2) in the "Select a Wizard" dialog box, select BlackBerry | BlackBerry resource file and click Next
    (3) in the 'new BlackBerry Resource File' I click on the name of main project, which informs the "enter or select the parent folder" box.
    (4) I type a name for the resource-"res.rrh" file in the "File name" box
    (5) the following buttons and complete stay outside grey-ed.  Only the advanced buttons, back and cancel are available.

According to the online manual for the plugin, the finishing touch should be available at this stage.

At the top of the window, he said "Selected paretn should be under the source directory of the eclipse.  What does that mean?  I tried the project file and each directory in there.  This message does not disappear and the buttons remain out of grey-ed.

How can I create a resource file using this plugin?

    Pau

I discovered the solution.  Under the {project} \src directory, I had to create a new directory called Resources.  Then I was able to follow the steps I gave initially and could choose resources such as the parent directory.  The button become clickable.

No where in the documentation of BB he said I needed to create a directory under CBC before doing the steps documented.

  • Eclipse plugin problem

    Hi all

I was faced with a problem with the plugin for a while and I can't solve it.

The problem is any program that I run in the Simulator works in the start. To eliminate the complexities, I created a new project and just have the demo of HelloWorld HelloWorld class as the source. Still, it runs at startup.

I rechecked the file Blackberry_App_Description.xml. Auto-run at startup is unchekced and it does no entry in the "alternate Entry Points" either.

    Here are some details:

    Eclipse - 3.5

    BlackBerry Java SDK - 5.0

    Eclipse plugin - 1.1.2

    BlackBerry 9550 Simulator

    Thanks in advance.

I found my problem with always updated application running.  Found on another thread here.

If you go to the Debug Configurations there is a simulator tab.  There is a text box with the title

Application or URL launch at startup.

Make sure it is empty.  Hope that helps, this has been driving me crazy.

Note that the alternative entry point option is not available if the project contains all the java source files added to it.

  • Including external containers in a compiled file cod w / Eclipse plugin

I am trying to include a jar in my application using the Eclipse plugin.  I looked around forums and so far I got mixed messages.  On the one hand, there is a KB referring to the addition of a jar in an application in the present case:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800901/How_To_-_Compi...

The original thread (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&thread.id=6403) referred to in article, but response from the MSohm said then that it is not possible in eclipse still to include 3rd party jars in the application.  It was a few months ago and I was wondering... What is the authoritarian response?

Personally, I was able to relate the pot in my application in Eclipse (make the pot its own project and have a dependency of project on this issue) and the Simulator successfully to recognize that the two projects/modules are present.  However, once I have create the cod for my application file and load it into my device (via javaloader command line method), the dependent project was not deferred.  It seems that the Simulator just starts up two 'projects' but is not really associate them in the file of the Cod.

To answer my own question: the mistake that I did, it was that I was without specifying the COD files in the form of RIM-COD-URL-#. After the have rewritten the JAD file accordingly, everything worked fine.  Here's a quick example provided by Eric Giguere.

    MIDlet-Version: 1.0.0

    MIDlet-name: My Silly App

MIDlet-Description: wish he would do something
MIDlet-vendor: RIM should buy us fortunes, Inc.

    RIM-COD-URL-1: library1.cod
    RIM-COD-size-1: 15088
    RIM-COD-URL-2: library2.cod
    RIM-COD-size-2: 7963

    RIM-COD-URL-3: sillyapp.cod
    RIM-COD-size-3: 41923

    Hope that helps.

I guess that the bbwp.exe that calls the bbwp.jar was compiled in a latest version of java.

Java 1.6.0 update 11 doesnot work.

I tried the update of java 1.6.0 17, all right.

RIM just needs to update their http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/devbetasoftware/eclipseplugin.jsp requirements from (SUN JDK 1.6 or higher) update (SUN JDK 1.6 XX or higher)

  • Error installing the Eclipse plugin

Hi, I am installing the Eclipse plugin for VMware Studio. First of all, I downloaded Eclipse 3.5 and when that does not work I downloaded 3.4, but I'm having the same problem with 3.4 I had with 3.5. I'm just following the instructions posted here:

    http://www.VMware.com/support/Developer/Studio/studio20/eclipse_plugin.html

I managed to step 3, when I click on install in step 4, I get a warning:

«Maybe the software you selected is not valid with your current installation.» You want to open the wizard in any case to review the selections? »

I click Yes and a new window opens that says "cannot complete the request. See details»

    Details:

Cannot complete the request.  See the details.

    Unsatisfied dependency: http://com.vmware.studio.eclipse.feature.group 2.0.0.1017 - 185256 requiredCapability: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu/org.eclipse.wst.xml_ui.feature.feature.group/0.0.0

No one knows what that is this dependence and how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you!!

Make sure that the proxy server can be reached.

    After installation, restart your eclipse.

I recommend try first on Eclipse 3.4

  • What does it mean when accessibility.delay_plugins is set to false?

I keep having problems with Flash player crashing in Firefox, while Zynga Games. I have the latest version of Firefox, Flash Player, plugins have been reset: I jumped through all the hoops and continue to have problems. I realize realize that games Zynga race very slowly so I decided to start tweaking timeouts in Firefox. What does it mean exactly when the accessibility.delay_plugins parameter is set to false? Is - average access delay is disabled by default?

See the comments in this file:

    722 #ifdef XP_WIN
723 // Some accessibility tools poke at windows in the plugin process during setup
724 // which can cause hangs. To hack around this set accessibility.delay_plugins
725 // to true, you can also try increasing accessibility.delay_plugin_time if your
726 // machine is slow and you still experience hangs.
    727 // See bug 781791.
    728 pref("accessibility.delay_plugins", false);
    729 pref("accessibility.delay_plugin_time", 10000);
    730 #endif
  • What does it mean to select 'request to activate' for Add-ons?

What does it mean to select 'request to activate' for Add-ons?
It makes it safer, for example when using flash player?
Or, when this option would be desirable?
And I read this advice: "uninstall all versions of Java completely and see if you can manage without it. Otherwise, you can always install the latest version, when you need it. »
So I was wondering - uninstall it would be safer just to assign to, "ask to activate" and (I guess?) that he ask me any time, she wants to exploit (and therefore to put my system in peril?)?
    Thanks for the tips!

Request to activate is whenever Firefox ask your permission to run this plugin to make it safer.

Always activate = a time what you choose this option, the plugin works automatically whenever it needs

Never activate the plugin = never executed, until you change the option to "Ask to activate or always»

There is nothing else with the error (I see references to problems with the exact lines of the RSS, but I don't get everything).  RSS feed works fine in a different podcast player.

Please always post the URL of your feed, not its content. I'm assuming that your workflow is the one mentioned in the tag "atom: link".

    http://psychicreform.com/mosports/mosports.XML

Feed validators are complaining that this line contains a prefix of "independent". I think it's probably because in the second line, "rss.xlmns" it does not mention "atom", only "itunes" - the URL in this line indicates the feed reader RSS how to interpret the tags for this application. Without link for 'atom', the tag is meaningless to readers, and it is marked as an XML error, which is enough to cause the feed unreadable. There is no need to have this line (Atom is a very old RSS reader which I doubt anyone uses now) and you'd better remove that line altogether, either that or somehow insert the URL of the atom, which seems to be "xmlns:atom ="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"" so that the second line would read as follows: "

    http://www.iTunes.com/DTDs/Podcast-1.0.DTD"xmlns:atom ="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"version ="2.0">"

You will need to take one or the other or the feed will continue to be unreadable.
