"Deleting" a file does not actually delete it marks just the space
also available to be used. There are third-party programs that can
sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by
the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and it makes
    the unrecoverable file.

So your chances of successfully recover this file are decent if you
Try it again immediately after the deletion of it and go quickly
downhill from there if you write other files on the device.

But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop
written on the memory stick immediately, if you did not
already. Download an undelete program (and here's one:)

  • Windows Vista does not recognize the removable storage device

    ISSUE INITIAL 2010-03-03)
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Insert the card compact flash.
2 computer recognizes the removable storage (that is, it is assigned a drive letter and appears in disk management).
    3. use the icon remove the device safely in the taskbar to stop the machine to remove safely.
    4. remove the card compact flash.
    5. Insert the compact flash card.
    6. the computer does not recognize removable storage (that is, it is not assigned a drive letter and does not appear in disk management).

The only way I can get windows to recognize the drive is to restart my computer. How can I get windows recognize the drive without having to reboot?   This problem does not occur with USB flash drives.

Windows Vista Hame Premium, 64-bit, Service Pack 2 operating system

    UPDATE (04/03/2010):
I have more information, I hope this helps to reach a solution.

-J' repeated the steps above 1 to 3, with open Device Manager.  In step 3, in the Device Manager window, the icon for the question USB mass storage device becomes the exclamation point in yellow triangle icon.  Check its properties on the tab "General", in the "Device status" box, it says: "Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been established for"safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)  IX this problem, disconnect the device from your computer and then reconnect it.  Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »
-J' then removed the card and rest of the error state.
-J' I re inserted the card, and rest of the error state.
-J' I then tried to update the driver by accessing the tab "driver", click on "Update driver", click on "Automatically search for an updated driver", and the result was "the best driver for your device is already installed."

I found the solution on this hp web page:
    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=bph07910&tmp_task=solveCategory&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&product=3876397&lang=en#N1074

Basically, it says NOT to use the function "remove the device safely.  Instead, just right-click on the drive in the Solution Explorer, then choose "Eject".  Works perfectly.

    Some excerpts...
"Memory card readers are devices that use the icon remove the device safely in the notification area in the taskbar). Do not click stop in the window, remove the device safely. Doing so can disconnect the card memory reader for Windows. In this case, restart the computer to reset the memory card reader. »
"An alternative to the restart of the computer is to use the option optimize for fast moving functionality in Windows.

  • How can I transfer downloaded internet files firefox 'downloads' in the menu to another file or removable storage device.

Many of my internet downloads went to "downloads of firefox" and I do not see how to transfer them elsewhere.

    Hello

In the "Downloads" one window entry right click and choose 'open containing folder '. This will open the folder where the downloaded file is stored and you can copy it to the desired location / device.

Choose "Tools" > "Options" > "Général" you shows the path to the folder where Firefox is save the downloads, but does not open the folder itself. You can see the downloads folder path near the entrance "save files to" around the middle of the window. If the full path is not visible, click "Browse". Here you can also change the location where Firefox is save downloads. For example you can replace your removable storage if the unit is installed and always available.

  • hard drive internal, now recognized as removable storage device?

everything was fine until I updated my motherboard drivers. I have an Abit NF-M2SV (Nforce 405) and after the updated drivers (chipset, storage, etc.) and my second hard drive which is SATA, arose in the removable storage as if it were a memory stick. If I stop the device it tells me to unplug it now, but it is internal and the system is always on. Anyone know what may have caused this?
    Thank you

    chris1991,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

If this happens when you updated your motherboard drivers, then you need to contact the manufacturer of your motherboard to see if they have a fix for it.  In the meantime, you can try restoring your system to a point in time before you updated the drivers from the motherboard.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    Click Finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

If this does not work, you can try to roll back the motherboard drivers, but it's very risky, so you should back up your system first.

Check that the automatic run settings are correct:

    1. Click on the Start orb
    2. Select Control Panel
    3. Select auto play

You should see the card reader that you use for the Sandisk under devices. Select the action you want to take in the drop-down list.

  • Impossible to safely remove external USB HDD - ejection of mass storage device problem

    Hello

I have a 250 toshiba external hard drive. "When I go safely remove device and click on stop, guests me that ' ejection of mass storage device problem and try later.

Is there a reason for this? As I have heard it is dangerous to pull the cord without stopping it first.

This happens usually when something is always access to the USB - HDD.
Yes, it s dangerous to pull on the cable, because you can lose some data and the file system may be damaged. But if you have a situation where you need the drive to take with you and want to just get out the cable to the USB port there is a little trick to disconnect the security apparatus:

Do right click on 'My Computer'-> click on Hardware-> click "devicemanager"-> go into "diskdrives"-> then you need to click on the drive that is your USB - HDD-> with the right button and then click on 'Properties'-> in the menu properties of this drive, you must go on "policies" and click on "optimize for quick removal"-> and then click OK and exit this menu and all-> perform a reboot-> closing information fact. :)

After that, it s safe for remove you your drive even if it s not ejected. :)

    Welcome them

  • Problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device [Unlocker doesn't work]

    Hey everybody,

Just like everyone else, I get a pop-up message when trying to eject my external hard drive WD: "problem ejecting USB Mass Storage Device. Windows can't stop... "and so on." This does not work when I've only sailed on the disk, but it does, for example, when I made a mistake - check or make a backup. I already checked the forums, but unlike everyone else, third-party programs do not work for me.
    I did the following:

    -closed open task

    -disabled virus scanner

-used Unlocker and Process Explorer, but he can't find any process that locks my drive. What happens here?

    -rebooted in safe mode

    -disabled indexing

It makes me crazy that I have to restart whenever I want my drive to eject.

Oh, and I use Windows 7.

Can someone help me solve this problem?

    Hello

    (1) is limited to any specific USB device?

    (2) did you try to connect the device to a different USB port and check if you are facing a similar question?

This problem may occur if there are handles open with all the files in the USB (Universal Serial Bus) mass storage device are in use by another program. Follow these methods and check if that helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter to check if it helps.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

    Method 2:

I suggest you to check and clean the boot if any third-party program is causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Warning: After you used the clean boot in order to solve your problem follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Connecting and disconnecting USB devices:

Most USB devices can be removed and disconnected at will. When you unplug the devices of storage, such as USB flash drives, you should be sure that the computer has finished saving all the information on the device before removing it. If the device has an activity light, wait a few seconds after the light has finished flashing before unplugging.

If you see the icon remove the device safely in to the far right of the taskbar notification area, you can use this to ensure that devices have finished all operations in progress and are ready to remove. Click the icon and you will see a list of devices. Click the device you want to remove.

You can use any USB port when you plug in a device you have installed beforehand. However, the first time you connect a device to a particular port, Windows will install the driver for this device again.

  • How to remove safely from the external storage devices

I don't know how to remove safely from ports usb storage devices.

    Hello

When you have a USB drive connected and turned on, there will be a USB plug with a green show check ICON on your taskbar clock and stuff.

Click on it and select the device you want to eject.

As a warning... Win 8 has something that I was not able to figure out yet.

Instead of the usual "Safe To Remove Hardware" message, I get "Impossible for-disconnector is in use" even if it is not.

I was just clicking OK essentially and unplug then... I've yet to lose any info.

You may or may not have this problem, but I thought I should give a heads up.
