  • Install Yosemite along side El captain

My friend has a Macbook Pro of the retina not and currently El captain has installed. Her school then to use called LockDown browser software preventing him from cheating on quizzes online, test etc. He however; is incompatible with El Capitan, so she has to downshift. My question is, is it possible to repartition the drive and install a version of OS lower alongside El Captain like Yosemite? or should I just go the traditional manual way and wipe everything and do a fresh install of Yosemite. My reason for wanting to do it is because it has a 500 GB drive which is almost full, so it would be easier to have to back up your files, I can leave this partition in tact and whenever it requires the software of her school she may just start in Yosemite.

    Thank you

On the model of Mac, it is possible. Back up the data anyway; the computer's internal reader will fail eventually.

  • security update 2016-001 safari and mozilla, not loading pages

After updating my Macbook with security update 2016-001 and Safari 9.0.3 update the two Mozilla and Safari browsers are extremely slow. Some pages won't load at all. I tried to boot from a boot on an external hard disk drive before the updates and the browsers work, I tried to install El captain in Yosemite and the problem persists. I cleared caches and the problem still there. Does anyone else know this. Any ideas on how to fix this without reverting to an old copy of the Yosemite Backup?

If you have any third party anti virus applications running uninstall them. Same for all the apps claiming to clean, driven, manage your computer.

  • New engine audio speakers are volume levels asymmetrical, even if I double checked all the connections and checked through balances of speaker system preferences. Help, please?

I have an old desktop iMac to less than 1 year, I've upgraded to El captain of Yosemite.  Just fine, except the quality of the internal speakers.  Yesterday, I received speakers brand new engine audio 5 +.  Hooked by instructions.  Between the speakers volume levels are completely unbalanced. His active in Preferences system - balanced in the Middle, 50-50.  Verified in applications/utilities-audio MIDI output, everything is correctly set.  I can get pay only by the reduction in volume of the speaker on the right to almost nothing, but then I have no more volume than offer the internal speakers.  Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

You use the audio output from your Mac an entry in your speakers or you cross an external DAC first?

I also have the A5 speakers +, and I also use their USB D1 DAC which then audio output runs to the speakers.  Yosemite was a constant headache with my setup, but appears to have been eliminated with El Capitan.  I installed OSX to El Capitan, as well as later make a clean-install of El Capitan purely for my wanting a clean and in both cases, the sound system was very good.  Those who speak of fantastic, better that I have owned yet.

Can you be more specific with how your output of iMac is done?  As usually, always check, then check your connections in your speakers and make sure that the audio cables are intact and not frayed.  If you use the headset, ensure that the headphone cable is robust and doesn't look like not to is damaged/twisted.

You can consider getting the audio DAC AudioEngine to manage your Mac, as it is much better than one built-in that comes in your iMac.  I use it on my new iMac 5K that I received a few weeks ago.

I recently downgraded from the el captain in yosemite.  I backed up my computer on el Captain not knowing I wouldn't be able to reinstall on a an earlier operating system (I had not saved my computer before decommissioning).  I need to reinstall my CSC, I have the disk is no longer, but have the serial number.  No indication as to how I can reinstall would be great.

  • Updating Yosemite 10.10.5 to El captain of evil

I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on a MacBook Pro of the retina. I tried to upgrade to El Captain but apparently failed, because once the download is complete, no changes took place on the system. All other attempts to upgrade again remained impossible: on the update page, Captain of El status is: "Downloaded" and the system to run away as if do not have access to the file, without error message.

The Mac App Store shows that OS X El Capitan is downloaded because the installer is in your Mac, but you have not yet improved. Go to the Applications folder and you will find the installer for OS X El Capitan, then open it and follow the steps. Be sure to connect the Mac to the power adapter before you start the upgrade to OS X El Capitan.

Apart from this, I recommend you make a backup of your files before the upgrade in case you want to downgrade to OS X Yosemite.

  • Upgrade: Yosemite or El captain

I have a MacBook Pro.  The processor is: Intel Core 2 Duo, CPU speed: 2.4 GHz, number of processors: 1

Total number of cores: 2, L2 Cache Memory: 3 MB, memory: 4 GB.  Right now I am running! 0.6.8 should I go to Yosemite or El captain.  (I read about a lot of problems with the captain of El).  Thank you!

If you need to update is 100% up to you. However do not forget 10.6.8 has no more security updates and also more you wait, the harder it will be if you use older applications which can be reached at the end of their useful life or supported.

No, but you can upgrade to El Capitan. At this point, you can go to Yosemite, but you can't make a mirror of the El Capitan system. You can't mix and match OS X versions.

  • IPhoto is possible on El captain

    My software:

    OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

    iPhoto v.9.6.1 (910.42)

Can I keep iPhoto, including all my events, albums, projects and library if I switch to El captain?

I tried the App Photos and find it more difficult and confusing to use.  RAW processing doesn't seem as effective and histogram does not reflect the changes.

Other users seem to have problems with the change of course.  Y at - it a special procedure?

You can, but it isn't really a wise decision. iPhoto will no longer develop and at one time may not work at all. I have just invest a little time and get acquainted with Photos. There are many many many tutorials available and there is also a dedicated Mac forum located pictures by clicking on pictures for Mac. You can use that too when you have questions or you receive a bit lost.

In short, it is much wiser to invest your time and effort in the future, rather than in the past.

  • Extremely slow download for the El captain

Hi did anyone know why El download Captain is still extremely slow - I mean it makes sense, while he was in high demand but now *?

I have a fiber optic symmetric 250/250 and at the beginning of the download connection, everything seems smooth, no estimated that about 30 min download time, then to about 300 MB, things are * upward. And the loading screen does move, it is estimated to take about 2 days to download. I tried 3 different times, 2 times today and there is a time in 3 days.

It is quite frustrating and I think to keep yosemite now.

Try to download it in safe mode, or another admin account.

  • El captain for an old Mac Pro?

    Hello

I have a 2009/2010 (not sure) Mac Pro upgraded to a base of 1 X 6, 760 GTX, 32 GB of Ram. 2 x 512 SSD Drives and still the oldest cinema apple display (aluminium) in very good condition. I have installed the Mavericks in one SSD and Yosemite on the second. My question is. The El captain is suited for this kind of older hardware that I have? Especially the monitor?

    Thank you

Sorry, it's a question that I should post the Forum of El Captain instead?
