  Solution to change RAID AHCI on an HP EliteBook 840g 1

  My EliteBook 840 g 1 does not have a CD/DVD drive, so I put my software available on a USB stick and this worked great.

  1. back up your PC or important documents.

  2 put the software available on CD/DVD or USB depending on one you plan to use.

  3. close all programs and restart your PC.

  -C' is where it gets difficult.

  4. enter in the Bios by pressing the ESC key

  5. make sure you change your boot order / put USB or CD/DVD first in order - depending on what you are going to use

  6. once in the BIOS go to the 'Advanced tab' and then 'Device Configurations '.

  7. go to RAID/AHCI and switch to AHCI

  8 save the settings and exit.

  -C' is where it gets trickier.

  9. THIS CRITICISM IS - after save and exit the BIOS of the PC will start start - don't let it throw - back in the BIOS before it starts

  10. once in the BIOS, go to the boot options and select the option that you put your software available.

  11. now booting from USB or CD/DVD, you have your software available on

  12. your PC will now go through the re-imaging process and when it's done, you'll be in AHCI.

  13. you can check by going to "Device Manager" > double-click on ' controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI "and below you see"Intel 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller '.

  14. He verifies that you are in AHCI

  15 take advantage of the improved performance

  The extent of the change RAID on AHCI by using registry settings I couldn't get it work. I changed the starting value of several channels (msahci, istorA, istorV, etc.) and couldn't make the change happen. From my experience, I had to reimage my PC for that change to AHCI RAID. If someone has a proven solution, changing to AHCI RAID in registry settings without having to do a reimage would be what they please report them.  Thank you and I hope that all this information is useful.

  Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

  If you contact HP Business support, they may be able to file a custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  Hello everyone :-)

  When I'm at the office, I got my Elite Book 820 G1 docked to the Docking Station Ultraslim of 2013.

  If the laptop screen is closed and I can't access the keyboard and the keys of the laptop.

  How can I turn on/off, same strength, the wireless?

  The fact is I want to use the network local ethernet desktop in windows 7 and in a wireless machine virtual ubuntu, and if the ethernet cable is plugged in I have no Wi - Fi available in my taskbar and the virtual machine cannot recognize it and then connection via tethering with my smartphone.

  Hey, I recently got an elitebook hp with windows 7 and I went to install warcraft 3 on it. When I put the reign of chaos it installed fine and correctly but when I put in disc expansion throne frozen it says I have to install warcraft 3 to go forward and I uninstalled it and tried to put it in different drives on my computer but nothing seems to work, would appreciate any help in this

  1. What is the exact message?
  2. using 64-bit or the 32-bit version of the operating system?
   
  Installing the game cannot continue due to some reasons such as:
   
  1 game corrupt in the DVD.
  2. the stripes or impure DVD.
  3 previous World Of Warcraft installation files on the computer that could not be rewritten.
  4. any security or any other application program blocks installation.
  
  Step 1: Clean the disc
   
  Clean the CD or the DVD. To do this, use a disc cleaning kit. Or gently wipe the silver side of the disc with a soft and Lint cotton cloth. Do not use cloth of paper which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks. When you clean the disc, wipe from the center of the disc outward. Do not use a circular motion. If the problem persists, clean the disc with a damp cloth or a commercial CD or DVD cleaning solution. Dry the disc thoroughly until you insert the disc in the drive.
                   
  Step 2: If the steps above don't fix the issue, I recommend you contact the support of World of Warcraft for the replaced disk.

  I have a HP elitebook 8540w laptop with Windows 7. It is advisable to upgrade to windows 10?

  @Mrstenter, I don't think you understand the topic at hand.

  HP Support Assistant won't see 10 Windows is a viable OS for this laptop, so, it will not find something for her.

  While most of the components have in fact several updates, available from the OEM component, HP has been terrible to sustain this business 'quality' "Élite" mobile Workstation.

  The Support Site for the 8540w was a mess, and terribly inconsistent, almost all the time it was available, it's a big reason that when it was time for an update of the platform, I went for a Dell M4800 instead of the EliteBook/ZenBook/s comparible.

  Now, @Bredzy , insofar as Windows 10 is concerned; I leave the upgrade happens to mine:

  I tried 8 and 8.1 on it and went back to 7 times.

  10 has been good so far.

  All the drivers I have in place before the upgrade were still in place after the upgrade, which was nice, and same OneDrive is synchronization, despite the fact that I am not connect with my hotmail account.

  If you do not rely on the card mobile broadband, you'll be probably a bit stuck here.

  I have not tried the once again fingerprint reader, again, because even in 7, the weird mix of validity and ProtectTools jived never really for me, besides, PT integrated only with IE, which I almost never use, so it was pretty useless once the laptop is unlocked at the start.

  Just bought a used book of Elite 8440p.  I need to know what type of PCMCIA card that it accepts.

  No PCMCIA... those who have not been on laptops in 12 years. The laptop has a 54mm Expresscard housing that looks like a little to a PCMCIA card slot, but is a bit different. It is right above the headphone Sockets.

  My quick fix suggestion: roll back the BIOS by removing the BIOS password and reverse what you did with the BIOS before that and then try again later if you wish.
