EliteBook 2170p: administrator BIOS password reset

I bought a used laptop on ebay and installed Windows 7 above. I am able to use it very well.

But the BIOS is protected by an administrator password that I can not understand how to clear.

I tried to reset/reinitting but TPM module which has not helped.

It would reset if I pulled the RTC battery for repair? I don't want to open up the laptop

and delete the parts unless I know this could work.

The only reason I want to reset it's because Bluetooth is disabled in the BIOS for a reason any.

Thank you is advanced!

Welcome to Dimitri.

Remove the RTC battery will not work!

There is no master password for ProBooks or EliteBook.

Sorry, but you have to contact HP support.

    Hello

Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

    Kind regards

Contact technical support HP... to the USA/Canada, call this number... 1-800-334-5144

Explain the situation to the technology.  I think that they can send you some sort of file BIOS that you can run to clear/unlock BIOS P / w.

  • EliteBook 820 G1: G1 Elitebook 820 BIOS password reset

    Hello

I've been updated BIOS firmware for laptop users, but I am stuck because of the absence of BIOS admin password. This has not been defined by anyone, and if so, I already tried a few passwords by default we use in special cases like this. Can you please help me with BIOS password reset please? I don't want to open up the laptop to reset the BIOS with the PIN, battery or switch... and I'm really not sure if this is possible with this model. Whatever it is, guaranteed disappears if I do.

Enterprise-class specifications are of a very different category than consumer laptops.

    Security is very strict.

Remove the password admin or start will require replacement of the motherboard or BIOS CMOS chip with one that has been programmed with a new copy of a ROM family file there is place of BIOS.

For the notebook to stay in coverage that must be performed by a service provider authorized HP.

"I don't want to open up the laptop to reset the BIOS with the PIN, battery or switch... and I'm really not sure if this is possible with this model." The old-school methods are not possible with this generation of modern models of laptop Elitebook.

  • Administrator Bios password does not work on HP 4420 s XT940UT #ABA Windows 7 64-bit

Someone please help me with this!

I bought this laptop from a friend (have receipt) who sell it to me because the screen was cracked and spidered all out when you the activated. And everywhere he went to ask to get the screen fixed it is very expensive ($250 - $350) and he said that it would be just a newer laptop. So he sold me this which is a model Probook of HP4420s XT940UT #ABA. About a week after I bought this Probook friend who sold it to died me suddenly. It was sudden and terrible. Some time later, I had the time of the purchase of the LCD for this model, replace it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition. After installing all my software and using the laptop for a while now, I wanted to get into the Bios that I've never done. So when I started the laptop, click ESC, then F10 to enter the BIOS, there were two places to enter a password is different then all Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees I put in place using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/administrator. Well I can do most of the changes with the one I put in place with my password but my password does not work, nor can I get in some very significant changes that I wanted to do using Bios/administrator, as kindling the LoJack, namely the blocking of the hard drive etc. , turning on turbo boost, fan, etc. Well, since the person I bought is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to the answer to this question of administrator/BIOS password / problem.  I tried to take battery Rtype and restore that way, didn't work. Several times, I called HP and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS, I have already, would not let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and do not put anything in BiosConfigureUtility.exe happens, said just a wrong command. When I try to enter the BIOS through the C: file in the files of the SSM, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open it and it just flashes a way small order page to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop thinking I have a lot of time and money invested in it now. The problem would have something to do with installing the 64 bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 32 bits I suppose initially that he came with? I have all the manuals and they say that this laptop is compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Pro is what I installed. I'm mixed responses from many different people on this and would like an answer from HP someone who has experience in dealing with the BIOS in the Probooks business models if possible please. I really like this Probook and have since become big fan of most HP, Dell and Lenovo.  I intend to buy two probooks, one for my wife and one for my daughter because this one is like a MacBook, but better.  Thank you for reading this and I hope someone can help.

Once you open a session with the service the customer of HP one case of pension, they will provide once the utility you and steps to execute it. who can capture the UUID. BTW - UUID is a unique ID for each machine (16 digits or more) stored in the BIOS itself.

Once the results of the utility (UUID and other info) in the log file, shared with HP, they can generate a key file (SMC) to reset.

Well, depertment of technical support can help you in it, no need to ask for anyone in particular or the Department.

    It will be useful.

  • EliteBook p 8460 - unknown administrator BIOS password

    Hi all

I have an Elitebook 8460p with Windows 7 and Protecttools Security manager installed.

When I entered the BIOS, there was my user account and a present guest account.

If you use my own account, most were grey, but using the comments into account all parameters were available.

Some time ago I updated Protecttools, but now the guest account is gone and there is a BIOS administrator account. It asks for a password but I never put a!

How to enter the BIOS now?

    Problem solved.

I opened a support call at HP, they asked me for a couple of details of the system and prepared a special folder. During the power on sequence key must be pressed, the file has been read and the BIOS has been released again.

Then I did a reset to the default values and creates a new BIOS user with admin rights, a new administrator and sparekey BIOS password.
