  Click with the right button on the speaker near clock - recorders - right click in the box - check see the
  Disconnected devices and show disabled devices - check your micro - highlight
  then on lower right properties. Make sure that the appropriate injector is selected and check
  other parameters - levels tab make sure that MUTE is disabled and APPLY / OK to change.

  Also in the search for some Audio Manager Panel (perhaps named after the manufacturer of the sound driver). Mine
  is the RealTek Audio Manager, yours can be quite different name if you have one.

  I guess that since the keyboard usb outboard reacted the same the problem is not the computer keyboard - good or bad?

  A possible clue in this area shows looks like on a couple of key tasks - maybe one spill - I read somewhere to burst the CAP key and maybe to clean the area with a cotton swab with alcohol?

  A number of things you said indicate that this could be a really serious problem...

  (1) you said the keys have been colored, and (2) to which to connect a USB keyboard has the same problem.

  If it was simply a minor spill on the keys, then (2) would not be the case, and a connected USB keyboard would work without any problem.

  But, given the second, everything that has been spilt on the keyboard seeped inside the laptop and did damage.

  At this point, your only recourse is to take the laptop to a cell phone of reputable repair shop and have them run diagnostics and, if necessary, disassemble to determine how much damage has been done and what it will take to fix it.

  IF it was bad, you're probably looking at a higher cost to repair than to replace.

  Press the sleep/wake and home buttons and keep them for at least 10 seconds.

  About a month ago, I spilled pepsi on my laptop and had sent for repair. I came home today and he had a new keyboard installed, among other things. But the new keyboard does not work properly.

• Lenovo Slim Portable USB DVD drive burner does not work

  I had previously portable Slim USB DVD burner, and it worked perfectly with a Thinkpad, I had. However, the device doesn't seem to work with my new Lenovo twist (s230u). There is absolutely no response from the computer. I checked the DVD and it works perfectly.

  This device needs a driver for it to work? I checked the Device Manager and there seems to be an 'unknown device', but WIndows is unable to find the proper drivers. I also can't seem to find anything on the Lenovo Web site. Any suggestions?

  I'm on OS x using indesign cs4.

  in indesign, all shortcuts involving numbers like spread fit to window, etc. do not work. I can assign shortcuts for numb keys but not modifier. but also when I enter the key instead of '1' appears, it says "Num 1". Illustrator and photoshop work as expected, but no InDesign. This has been a problem since I was maybe cs2, I've just never bothered to inquire about this. several years later, another computer different version and I'm still the same issue.

  ID keypad keys are reserved for style shortcuts. You must use the numbers on the line from the top of the touchpad qwerty for everything else.

  Hey guys and girls!  I just got my new laptop today, but the fn + F1-12 keys do not work.  The FN key works, chrome it registers itself as opening it's own help page when you press fn + f1, but the volume does nothing, done nothing, flight etc.  I looked on the site to download HP drivers and cannot find anything.  Can't find any missing software help software.  Does anyone know where to download the software or activate the button fn?

  What happens if you set the keys fn in the bios to disabled people?

  Normally this setting would mean that just pressing f1 - f12 to run the secondary function (i.e. f1 for help, browser f11 full screen etc.), while the primary functions would require that the fn key is held down (IE fn + f4 to view display output options, fn + f6 to mute the volume, etc.).

  Should now behave this way or the bios setting has no effect?

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
  contacts data with a pencil eraser.

  Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
  manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

  Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
  Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
  do it right.

  Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
  the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

  Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
  the correct registry entries for your car.

  Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
  as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
  the parameters.
