Encryption ReadyChache SSD?

I installed ExpressCache and was wondering how to encrypt the content of ssd? BitLocker does not list the ssd drive.

My HARD drive is bitlocker encrypted, so if chached data is not encrypted, which would defeat the pruprose of encryption at all.

the data is exactly the same on the SSD as your HARD drive. all made CBS's monitor for use LBA and it copies the more PIF s used LBA for the SSD and redirect all read IO for the SSD instead of HARD drive. If the data is encrypted on the HARD drive it is encrypted on the SSD. the EC software decrypts not data.

    No, it shouldn't be a problem. It may be necessary first turn on FileVault and encrypt the SSD. But if there is no problem just turn off FileVault on the HARD drive.

    The SG300 series can't RIP. Only static routes (up to 32) are supported. However, models of SG500X support the dynamic routing RIP version 2 Protocol.

    Regarding the new firmware Sx300, he added a number of security features impressive including inspection IP ARP, DHCP snooping and encryption of SSD.

  • After that the SSD has been deleted, is it too late to use encryption for more security before selling?

    My goal is to make my data inaccessible to the person who will buy my Macbook opportunity. While I'm fully aware that this is an almost impossible task to delete really an ssd, I read that if you encrypt everything before you wipe the drive and reinstall the OS, at least, the recovered data can be read.  However, I read these seemingly wise advice AFTER I had already deleted my Macbook and reinstalled the operating system.  So, the question is with my 'deleted' data and the operating system reinstalled, activation of encryption at this point will achieve my goal, or still will remain unencrypted data previously of the ' erased '?

    I ran HP protecttool securty Manager drive encryption. The whole process takes only a few minutes. This means that all existing data will be not encrypted? Or it will be encrypted asynchroneously over time?

  • zBook 15 - SSD encryption problem

    Good afternoon everyone,

    I get the error message below.

    "An error occurred during initialization authentication pre-seed. (0x9a00).

    The problem is the following:

    1. Image, pushed to the machine using the Clonezilla software. It is a standard construction we have on most laptops.
    2. On-board HP encryption enabled. Recovery stored on USB key.
    3. Laptop has been used for a few weeks.
    4. Someone tried to install software of BeCrypt encryption on the machine.
    5. This, as expected (I wish they'd asked first), completely messed up the machine.
    6. When starting, we still got the encryption authentication screen. After the password, he would try to start windows and BSOD.
    7. To try to remedy the situation, I entered the password encytption and before she started windows, open a CMD window.
    8. Using DiskPart I wiped the drive and reinstalled Windows 7 from CD.
    9. The machine worked, would start through encryption (password entered as usual) and then in the new installation of Windows 7.
    10. Thinking that everything was OK, I relayed the Clonezilla image once more (without disabling the encryption)
    11. The machine now give the error at the top of the pole and the recovery key refuses to play ball

  • Editing a file to remove confidential data from a solid state drive (ssd)?

    I understand that El Capitan has removed the option "Secure Empty trash" because of hard drives (ssd) state how strong. So, I try to understand how I can work around it.

    Let's say I have a Pages or Word file with a list of names that should be kept confidential, and I want this file to the trash.

    What happens if I change the file to remove these names? Removing ssd data? Can I trash then the file as usual without worrying about confidential data remaining on the ssd?

    Or what should I do if I replaced the confidential names with something? For example, if I was John Doe on the list, what happens if I change to be John xyz? XYZ crash Doe on the ssd?

    No it doesn't, use FileVault to encrypt the contents of the disc.

  • Securely erase SSD using Filevault

    I am about to sell my MBP of 2009 with a 1 TB SSD.  I know that I can securely erase the drive as a traditional mechanical flat disc and if recommended someone following that sounds quite secured using filevault.  I'm aware that it can take a while to do but I am not hurry and eager to go through the process if indeed offers an additional layer of security if someone decides to hack.  I would that all expert opinion on it given that I don't consider myself a genius of Apple, or a guru on the SSD technology and encryption:

    1 turn on Filevault and implement a complex password of decription. (Note that it may take hours to encrypt the drive)

    2. once the drive is encrypted, start in recovery mode and erase the drive.

    3 reinstall the operating system and then turn on Filevault with a different password. (Shouldn't take as long to encrypt because there is very little data)

    4. boot into recovery mode, once more and wipe the drive.

    5 reinstall the operating system.

    Theoretically, all the old original data are an encrypted mess.  Also, the first Filevault password was erased and encrypted after the second installation of the OS.

    Probably no reason to go beyond 2 except to the reinstall the OS.

  • My Mac is hacked! Encryption help please!

    My Mac Pro is hacked, and this is confirmed by the engineers. Because the Mail app and even online ISP mail did not work if good PSI hunted hackers. I found files fragmented on 240 and 480 GB Intel SSD drives into the slots of the T2 drive: files named "sparse disk image...". ' and ' package of rare records...' appeared in the root of the readers. I could easily remove them. But I never put there. At the same time, Apple Mail app kept resetting ports 993/587 (course) to ports 143/25 (very insecure). Post font size 23pt appeared, ads corrupted font, file extensions book would not appear or would disappear, etc, etc, etc. The internet connection was bad too, so I called my ISP. ISP found twelve 12 computers in windows using various applications on my system. None of the computers used found languages where I live. Pirates. I also have an airport with a cap of 2 TB, and it is probably also diverted. Nothing in my system is encrypted. I just use firewall, even if it does not get somehow.

    Advise main suggested Apple should I encrypt my records. But these fragmented files were already there. Which indicates that someone somewhere on Earth was already encrypt files on my system. The adviser said fragmented files are a pretty good indication that its time to get more proactive. If my plan is to use disk utility to wipe my internal drive OS, OS X Extended (journaled encrypted). Then install OS X on the disc encrypted EAS - 256 bit.

    2.) how to clear all present airport Time Capsule content, encrypt Time Capsule and use it with my encrypted system?

    3.) how to encrypt external disks and use them with encrypted Time Capsule and encrypted internal drive?

    (4.) how to manually copy files from encrypted disks (mainly SSD external drives) of other backup disks which are normally cold (disconnected) for monthly backups of cold. "

    5.) monthly cold copies remain unencrypted?

    I worked with Mac since the 1980s. You can ignore it, but here are my thoughts: encrypt just the disk won't do much. I am surprised that the Apple engineer suggested this. If your Mac is compromised (depending on the ISP see Windows for access to the you that seems reasonable) the things MOST IMPORTANT to do is eliminate the hack code. If you encrypt the disk with the hack still there it is more likely will always have access to the data. Before going that all keep in mind that you probably allowed the hack in installation of the software on the web or by opening an attachment with the hack. So everything you try to remember what helped you ensure that you wouldn't do it again.

    You should consult your application package to see if there is something that you don't recognize or recently installed before the problem and remove before you try anything because it is possible the cut is integrated into an application. Remember that almost all hacks are hidden in the system and not easily seen so you probably won't find it. My approach is to install a charge/clean OS X, then copy your applications and your data.

    There are many approaches to this problem, but here's what I think, this is the simplest approach IF you have access to a second mac AND hack code doesn't do not part of one of your applications.  You said not what type of Mac you have or the system or if you have access to other Macs. My proposal would be based on that. Since you are in a jam here are a few options:

    If you have more than one Mac and an external hard drive:

    1. start the mac infected in target mode: restart and as soon as it chimes hold "T".

    2 connect the Mac, because I know you can't tell how. You can google it.

    3 format an external hard drive to use as a target of installation for El Capitan.

    4 download and install El Capitan on the Apple App store and install it on the external drive.

    5. after starting upwards, when asked if you want to copy applications and data to another Mac say Yes and let it copy the applications and data from the infected Mac internal drive.

    6. Once installation is complete it should start from the outside, test your system for ensure that everything works, you have all your dataand see if the problems are eliminated.

    7. If it's good, when it is started from the outside:

    8 download Super Duper or carbon copy. (I use SD).

    9. use disk utility in the folder utilities to clear the internal drive.

    10. copy your external drive to the internal drive, it will be deleted.

    11. when the copy is complete, stop the Mac and disconnect the external hard drive.

    12. start the Mac, go to Preferences-> floppy boot, then selected your internal drive system, she might want to restart. This step is optional, but if the boots aren't made can be more slow that the Mac external drive first.

    If you have access to an external hard drive:

    Remember that although it would probably be fine, there is a slight possibility that this can infect a connected drive, this is the case, you must use multiple macs above approach. But it's something you can try if you don't have a second mac.

  • How do I set up FileVault on SSD on El Capitan

    I am running El Capitan on a late 2011 13 "MacBook Pro. Recently I replaced the drive with a 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD. I took out the old drive, plugged into the SSD, rebooted into recovery mode and restored from a Time Machine backup. Everything went well spent - the machine is MUCH more reactive.

    Now, I would like to turn on FileVault. I go through the guests first few and continue to hit and I get a dialog box that reads:

    FileVault cannot be enabled for disk "MacHD".

    Some disc formats do not support the required encryption recovery partition.

    To use encryption, reinstall this version of Mac OS X on a reformatted drive.

    It is in the format "Mac OS X extended (journaled). I guess I need a recovery partition. Is this correct? If so, it can be done on a 3rd party SSD and if so, what is the process? Have I messed up by not having things is not a recovery partition? Moreover, I still have the hard drive that I replaced (the original drive supplied with the machine) and I've not yet washed it.

    If you reinstall the OS X on top of your OS X existing, it will create the recovery partition.

    install a new copy of El Capitan from the installation disc.

    With the connected boot drive, start - or restart - your Mac by holding down the Option (also called Alt) key. This will take you to the Boot Manager. Choose to install OS X El Capitan of the reader. Select "Disk Utility" and your hard drive, and then click clear. Return to the main menu and choose Install OS X.

    This has two questions:

    1 capacity of SSDS faster for Fusion drive has been reduced. Therefore less effective for the reader of the merger. For example if I need to create a partition of 80G for my windows bootcamp partition, only 48 G will be left in the drive of the merger.

    2. ability of the bootcamp windows partition becomes very limited, cannot be greater than 120 G.

    3. even when I try to fuse out of the drive of fusion in the 128 G SSD and 3 TB of HARD disk, and then run the BootCamp assistant to create the bootcamp partition start from scratch to reinstall El Capitan only on the HARD drive (without drive Fusion), it won't let me do anything, it just shows an error that says something like "a person has created additional partitions on this drive please select. another disc.     After having worked on those weeks, I realized that I need very painfully (by first going back to Yosemite and bootcamp 5 to escape all the limitations of El Capitan and BootCamp 6) I want to share here. Someone at - it other smarter solutions welcome.

    Note these steps and mentioned drivers only work for my version of iMAC, retina 5K late 2014. If you have other material, please search on the web to see which driver will work first. And all of these steps are destructive and assumed that you first take backup. It is only shared for interest only. Readers will have to bear your own risk.

    A. take backup

    1. take a backup completes my iMac Fusion Drive using Time Machine. Then restart with a Yosemite USB installation and select Terminal from the menu on the top bar.

    B. fuse out of the merger in two physical disks drive: SSD + HDD

    1. in the terminal, type the commands in show what the logical volume group ID and the ID of the logical Volume of the disc fusion)

    Cs diskutil list

    2. in the terminal, type commands for the fuse of the fuser unit and separate them to an SSD and a HARD drive.  Note: All data will be destroyed in the drive of the merger. There are many articles in this community on how this could be done,

    diskutil cs deleteVolume Logical Volume ID

    CS diskutil remove logical Volume Group ID

    This should finish within 30 minutes. If you have taken more time, this means that your reader of fusion has been altered somehow.

    I hit this issue too.  To use this command to remove the fusion drive hung up, and I need to do the hard to scramble a few sections of data in the hard disk partition table using the controls to tell the OSX this hard drive is a new without partitions:

    Cat >/dev/random /dev/disk0 (where/dev/disk0 is the SSD)

    and repeat for disk1/dev/disk1 which is the HARD drive in my case).

    This command will not return anything, but expect to press Ctrl-Z to end after 1 minute.

    2 create independent partitions (non-fusionend) for the installation of OSX.

    Borne Terminal output, and select disk utility, in disk utility, select the drive to HARD disk (and not on the partition), you will see the error message and you will be asked if you want to fix the fuser unit, click on ignore. Then wipe the HARD drive to create a single 'extended OSX journaled"named"HARD drive".

    3. Repeat step 2, and then erase the SSD drive to create a single 'extended OSX journaled"named"SSD ".

    C. install on the HARD disk as drive didier autonomous not fusion.

    1. go to Yosemite install screen and proceed with the installation of a clean copy of Yosemite to the iMAC. then connect you.

    D. use BootCamp Yosemite f5 to install windows.

    1. launch Yosemite bootcamp.

    2. check the two checkboxes for creating the USB drive to install windows 7 or a later version, and to download the windows supports the Apple software.  Do not click on the last box to install or remove windows pie creating real bootcamp partition again.

    3. it may take several hours to complete this function of your internet b/w and also performance of your USB drive.

    4. If you install Windows 7 (like me), then the downloaded drivers will not work for you, this will cause the issue of the device driver appleDSS.sys does not like this driver and others are too recent for windows 7 to use.  Also, your keyboard and mouse may not work even if you try to plug in a USB external keyboard or a mouse. You need to replace the drivers downloaded by others (the Boot Camp 5.1.5769 drivers that I find in this link: Software Support of Boot Camp 5.1.5769.) (Note: this driver is material specific only works for my iMAC model).  Once you have downloaded it, copy the two files in the root directory of the USB installation to replace the original ones. It's specific and material available for download somewhere on the Apple Site.

    -From the Finder, delete the $WinPE$ and the Boot Camp of the FLASH PLAYER files.

    -Expand the old drivers for Boot Camp 5.1.5769 (two records and another file) on your desktop.

    -Copy the $WinPE$ and records of Boot Camp in the FLASH PLAYER.

    5. open Boot Camp Assistant again and only select the third option, install Windows 7.

    It will show you the screen to select what installation disk, select HARD drive.

    For my case, I need only 500G for bootcamp and leaving behind 1.7 to for my MAC OSX partition immediately after the bootcamp partition and an another 0.8 T MAC OSX partition after him. 1.7 TB and the partition of MAC OS x 0.8 TB well exploited in the meantime bootcamp partition, will be merged into a fusion drive by Bootcamp. Thus, you will end up with total 2.5 TB of disk space in a logical drive - fuser.

    In my case, I want to book the last partition as standalone partition disk1s5 no-fusionend, so I can use it to raise the back, or format it in FAT32 to allow the exchange of data between the MAC and boot camp.

    11 exit the terminal, go back to OSX El Capitan install screen and select the name of the fuser unit 'Macintosh HD' proceed to begin the installation of the os x for installation.

    12. There will be a step in the installation ask you if you want to configure as a new computer, or restore from a time machine previous backup. Make your own choices it accordingly.

    13 once OSX El Capitan has been installed and you have finished restoring the data and custom configurations, you can enter the application of preferences to check if you see the icon of the "Startup" disk", and if you choose Startup BootCamp in the next reboot, you should be able to boot up to Windows without pressing and holding the button option when reboot and choose to start windows manually. Also, in windows, you should be able to click on the bootcamp Control Panel and select for a startup to OSX on the next reboot.

    14. one thing to be aware, if you install bootcamp in this way, the boot camp and the GUI utility disk in OSX El Capitan will not be able to adjust your settings.     My question is a little different, after trying to solve some problems on my drive via parallels bootcamp, it separates the EFI disk bootcamp and I accidentally thrown it. Since then, the drivers do not work correctly for bootcamp, I decided to remove and attempt to repartition the disk, but nothing helped. Now I'm stuck with 777 memory max and 222 GB of 'free space '.

    Is that what I can do in terminal to solve this problem? As I was informed is not good reformat your SSD and most likely will not solve the issue.

    I'm under Parallels on OS X El Capitan V 10.11.4 11.

  • BootCamp Windows does not start after you have enabled disk encryption

    Hello everyone, I am in a desperate situation and I need your help. Here is my sitatuaion.

    I have 13-inch MacBook Pro (early 2011). I put an SSD inside as my main drive and I also put an extra drive (HDD) in the optibay instead of my drive superdrive. The structure, I had was this:

    (1) my entire SSD was my OS X disk.

    2 my HDD optibay had three partitions: partition backup Time Machine, a) b) Extra partition (for stuff like media), c) Windows partition with Windows 7 installed.

    Had that Setup for a long time and everything worked very well, my SSD has been saved on the Time Machine partition on the HARD drive in my optibay.

    Then, I decided to turn on the File Vault 2. First of all I did for the SSD with my OS X on it. Everything went well and I could always start my Windows 7. Then, I decided to encrypt my Time Machine backup (because what's the point to encrypt the main system disk if you do not encrypt the backup as well?) -Here too everything went well.

    In other words, until I needed to start Windows. I have restarted my Mac, hold down option, the picker contraption came, but there was no windows to the choice. I came once before (but), so I knew I could always start in it.

    I jumped into my USB thumbdrive with fairing on it, he chose and he gave my start on the Windows partition option. But this time it did not work, I got an error message saying my there is no bootable device or something like that.

    I have confidence in turning the things of encryption for the partition of Time Machine (which is on the same HDD as my Windows partition) screwed disc here.

    The only question is: can I fix, start Windows, without having to install it from scratch? What I want is to have encryption enabled for both drive my main SSD where I have my OS X installed AND the partition of Time Machine that is on the disk in the optibay HARD and also have a Windows partition on it, but still be able to start Windows.

    Your problem is not related to FileVault2. Your question should have begun when additional Apple_HFS was created. Please after the release of

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk1

    If you have a problem with your Mac, you can potentially lose the SSD and backup TM. It is not an optimal configuration. A TM must be physically separated from your Mac, so you can restore the TM backup to a new Mac, if necessary.

    Also, since you removed the optical drive, re - install Windows on your 2011 model is a very rough road to travel.
